  1. Practise is the verb, practice is the noun, so: Practice (the noun) does indeed make perfect, but only if you do enough practising (verb). See also here. This is supposed to be a welcoming place for new members, so that they don't have to worry about people judging them before posting on the main boards. That's why older members are only getting a limited time here.
  2. From Dastan, first proper conversation with XX, so yes from you. And apparently "Nyx has never been in more pain as dozens of metal balls enter her skin and exit the opposite side", so I don't think a scar is overdoing it. It doesn't have to be a big scar, but it's associated with a significant and painful memory.
  3. Nyx smiles, although she also winces slightly. "I can focus on how useful you are now, and we'll talk about your other qualities over a drink later, my friend" she coughs just a little bit, clutching her old wound at her side where her scar burns, and finds she can't speak too quickly "I think... Abe shouldn't be any trouble thanks to you stunning him... so we can leave him alone... so could you keep the snake off our backs while I try a little healing please? You may... have questions about my actions, but please, trust me for now" she pants slightly, forcing the intrusive memories out of her mind. Clutching her Healing staff, knuckles whitening around it, Nyx keeps back and hits herself with it twice. Battle Order: Boomingham vs Sewer Cobra >Nyx vs Nyx with Healing Staff >Nyx vs Nyx with Healing Staff
  4. OOC: Thanks Zeph, I appreciate what you've said. "Larry my dear, if you weren't useful you wouldn't be standing up right now." Nyx winks and grins at her old friend, still poised with her bomb "Now, this bit should be fun."
  5. OOC: I'm going to put this OOC, as it is a personal sentiment as well as relevant to my character, but could you please give me some credit? I chose the attack I chose for a good reason (think of what would have happened if I'd rolled a Shield - most enemies would be dead and the others asleep, and consider that Nyx is immune to both that element and that effect, especially given the whole 'unexpected' thing), and I am fully aware of what I do or do not have in my inventory. This is not my first quest, far from it, as I've been playing longer than both of you, and whilst I appreciate you may be trying to help, it does come across as particularly patronising and this is far from the first time of it happening. So please, cut me some slack, thanks. Nyx turns on Barty with the kind of glare that could incinerate with the right kind of power behind it. The little imp should count himself lucky not to be a pile of ash at that moment. "Barty, seriously? Are you kidding me? How dare you be so damn rude! Do you think I've never fought before? Do you believe I don't weigh up the options carefully? And do you believe I have forgotten all the useful things I carry? If you don't get yourself into some sort of protecting position pronto, you're going to regret ever summoning yourself into existence. I've half a mind to leave him drooling on the floor, but that's no true way to fight now that I am able to get the bastard up. Now buzz off and do something useful you impudent pest." Nyx closes her eyes to calm the fury, opening them to stoop and use a Phoenix Essence on Boomingham. She helps the old man to his feet, and once he is back in the swing of being conscious and fighting again, she takes out her Rudra Bomb 'X2'. She looks wistful for a fleeting moment, as if losing one last memory, before casually tossing the powerful bomb in the direction of the enemies, all from the back row. Battle Order: >Nyx uses Phoenix Essence on Boomingham Boomingham attacks Abe >Nyx throws Rudra Bomb 'X2' at all enemies
  6. You can read this at your leisure. I am going to remind you that Brickdoctor was speaking to you as a Moderator of this site. I shall repeat myself one very last time: This is not about how you post your IC/OOC/whatever. This is about how you interact with other members on this site.
  7. Get Started! If you'd like to practise posting, feel free to do so in this thread. Nobody else will see it apart from other new people and Moderators and Admins. This is designed to be a separate space where you can get used to posting, and practise things like quoting or posting pictures, so go ahead! Please remember, however, that posts here will not add to your overall post count. ***An additional note: please use the Hello! My name is... forum to introduce yourself rather than posting here - only new members and Mods/Admins can read this thread!***
  8. Nyx swears coarsely and imaginatively under her breath as Boomingham falls. "I think you were right about the smelling salts, Larry." she mutters wistfully "I'll get you up soon, I hope. Right then.." She takes a deep breath, making sure she's standing back, and digs out her Smelling Salts, taking another deep breath to inhale them. Appraising the situation, she once more casts a Wind spell through her Lullaby Wand from the back row, but this time at Abe. Battle Order: >Nyx uses Smelling Salts >Nyx (Wind, Lullaby Wand) vs Abe
  9. There's room for all of you; you're all added, welcome.
  10. Nyx bursts out in a fit of giggles as her spell fizzles. Seeing the look on Boomingham's face, she falls silent. "Sorry, I have no idea what happened. I think someone spiked my drink maybe. Let's, as you say, try this again, but this time I'll be more cautious I think." Nyx readies a Wind spell through her Lullaby Wand at the Sewer Cobra from the back row. Battle Order: Boomingham vs Abe >Nyx (Sapphire, Lullaby Wand) vs Sewer Cobra
  11. OoC: Nyx is immune to Confused, so I therefore assume the spell works perfectly?
  12. "I'm already wearing my helmet, Larry dear, but thank you. I must say, it's times like these I'm glad I wear heels." Nyx looks down with displeasure at the muck on the ground. "C'mon, let's plough through these jokers and head for the bar, yes? Now then... which gem..." Nyx eventually decides on her Topaz to cast a Lightning spell, through her Darksteel Dagger at the Sewer Cobra from the back row. Battle Order: Boomingham (Frozen Sabre) vs Abe >Nyx - Lightning (Darksteel Dagger) vs Sewer Cobra
  13. Nyx speaks quietly back to Boomingham as she follows. "If anyone will be fine, he will, don't worry. As for you, well it all depends on whether you're going to be dictatorial and bossy again, or whether we can actually work together as friends, like we have so many times before. For instance, you might want to let me do the heavy lifting from now on, you don't want to do yourself a mischief at your age. "
  14. And thank you for updating the thread, too.
  15. Nyx waits for the guards to move away to Atramor's distraction before attempting to enter the sewers.
  16. Yes, we have a universal policy across the whole of EB that discussions should stay on topic. It's not a new thing, and it's not exclusive to Architecture, and members already report off topic posts because they like to read about the subject they expect to read about. When topics veer off course, all that is required, usually, is a polite reminder from a Moderator, which is exactly what Rufus posted. It just happens that Rick expanded the answer first in this case, just as I am now, although you should be well aware of this policy having yourself been a member of this site for over 18 months. If you have any doubts, please refer to the Member Guidelines, a link to which is in my, Rufus's, and Rick's signatures, not to mention that of every other Moderator on this site.
  17. I didn't actually see what the problem was, as you've already fixed it. I assume you just ended up with a bunch of html? There are html converters around on google if it happens again, although I think this may have something to do with the amount of code you already have in that one post, and you may need to add in a few more posts to spread it out. Let me know if you'd like to do that, as I'm pretty sure I can help.
  18. "and I was this close to another drink... Yeah, that's absolutely fine Ellaria. Not that I'm a huge fan of sewers, but climbing and skirts don't exactly mix either."
  19. Sorry that Ru got there first, but a welcome from me too!
  20. Hello new member and welcome to Eurobricks! Here we pride ourselves on providing a friendly and inclusive AFOL community and the very best in LEGO news, reviews, MOCs and competitions. This is essentially a "how to" guide to help you get started and to familiarise you with our community. Any questions you might still have after reading this you can ask here in our "HELP! ! !" topic or you can have a look at our extensive Eurobricks FAQ thread, both located in the 'Forum Information and Help' subforum. A few important general points: You will only see this forum whilst you're in the "New Members" group. Once you've made 10 posts on the main forum you will automatically move to the "Vassal" group and many functions will open up to you. When you reach the Vassal group you will then, and only then, be able to send Private Messages (PMs) to other members. Once you reach the Vassal group you will no longer see this forum. Posts in this forum will not count towards your overall post count. You are able to change your Avatar (your picture in the box to the left of your post) by simply clicking the arrow next to your user name at the top of the page (top right), then clicking "My Settings" and the "Change my photo" option at the top of the settings page. General Posting Information Eurobricks does not act as an image hosting site. If you want to post pictures then they first need to be hosted on an external image hosting site such as Brickshelf or Flickr (there are many other sites too). We have a tutorial on how to deeplink pictures from Flickr here. We ask all members to post in English. We are a global community and we do not expect perfect English, but we have found that using English as a common language allows the vast majority of our members to understand one another. Additionally, we don't expect perfect grammar, however we do ask all members to pay attention to capitalisation and punctuation and to avoid using "text-speak". To add a general reply to a topic, just start typing in the white space at the very end of the topic. When you've read over what you've written and you're happy, hit post. If you want to respond to a particular post then look for the "Quote" button in the bottom right corner of the post you want to respond to. Clicking that brings up a text box just like the normal "Reply" button, but the text box has the quote already in it. If you quote someone, you can (and should) remove unnecessary text and pictures from their text in your reply. We ask that you don't quote pictures as it slows the loading times for pages and they are invariably unnecessary. If you want to quote more than one person then you can use the "Multiquote" button to select the posts you want to reply to. When you have selected all the posts you want, there is an option to "Reply to selected posts" and this will bring up a text box for your reply. It is best, when using this feature, to trim down the content of the quotes so other readers can see the relevance of your reply. If you post again in the same topic, within a window of 15 minutes and before anyone else has replied, then your two posts will automatically merge together. Each post has a "Report" button. This is to bring any posts you are concerned about to the attention of a Moderator, as it generates a report that we can see and then act upon if we feel it is necessary. You can report your own posts, for instance if you accidentally post more than one identical topic. The Eurobricks Community There's a great community feel here, and there are plenty of other groups you can join as a member. We strongly encourage every new member to introduce themselves in a new thread in the "Hello My Name Is.." forum. There's even a guide in the forum on how to make a great introduction. As you continue to make posts on Eurobricks your rank will change. More information can be found in this topic. We do, however, ask that members make worthwhile posts, and posting many short posts to increase your post count will attract the attention of a Moderator. Many people would like to learn more about the process of writing a review and photographing LEGO, and for this we have our unique Reviewers Academy; its signup thread can be found in this link. Are you a FFOL (Female Fan Of LEGO), and would you like to be identified as such? Then we have a topic here where you can identify yourself as such and become part of the Lady group. We have a number of community building projects for members to join in with, currently: "Brethren of the Brick Seas" in the Pirates forum, "The Great Brick War" in Special Themes forum, "Guilds of Historica" in the History forum, "Shadows of Nar Eubricka" in the Star Wars forum and "Andromeda's Gates" in the Sci-Fi forum. These are a great way to get to know the community and as a "jumping off" point for MOCing. We often have smaller, similar projects in other forums and you are free to make suggestions to staff if you have interesting ideas for community building projects and building games. MOCs We hope many of you will share your MOCs with us. "MOC" stands for "My Own Creation" and we have a glossary of other, similar terms here. We have forums for all aspects of LEGO, and having a good look around the different forums will give you a great idea of where MOCs go. If in doubt, post in the forum you think is most appropriate and a Moderator may move your topic if it fits better somewhere else. Please post pictures of (rather than links to) your MOC so people can appreciate it better. Often people don't click on links, or don't give you feedback if they do, so showing pictures from the start is the best way to showcase your MOC. So that we can see the very best of your MOC, we ask that members try very hard to take pictures with a plain background, good lighting and in focus. We plan to soon have a basic photography tutorial, in the Website and Forums forum, to help. We love to Frontpage fantastic MOCs of all sizes, and we're much more likely to do so if your MOC is presented well and maybe has a little text with it to add context. One last note: If you'd like to practise posting, head over to this topic. If in doubt, check the Eurobricks FAQ hosted in the Forum Information and Help forum. By signing up, you have agreed to read and abide by the Site Guidelines. This topic is locked, but If you still have questions you can ask them here in our HELP topic also hosted in the Forum Information and Help forum. Best wishes from the Eurobricks Staff, and once again we wish you a warm welcome!
  21. "I'm still more than happy to set fire to something, naturally. There just doesn't seem to be anything flammable in the right sort of place to get rid of the guards. Maybe Atramor's idea of using a bomb would be better." Nyx tries not to look too disappointed in the lack of arson. "Larry, I think I could walk in with you. Women do occasionally go to these places with men you know. Apparently, any way. I'm not sure it'd be all that odd, especially if I do the giggly thing and we both talk loudly about how much money you're going to spend on me. We can pretend it's just how you wanted it to be when you first walked into the Hall all those years ago. "
  22. Nyx visibly relaxes as Purple stops her and Ellaria. "Thank hell for that. The last guy who slapped my big behind without my permission lost an arm. Anyway, distractions I can do. Ellaria, what do you think about using our womanly charms in a different way - we could 'happen upon' the dead body and scream very loudly and make a big scene? Or I could just sneak behind those wooden barrels and planks and start a fire? I once did an impromptu stage show back in Eubric, with magic and stuff... maybe we could draw people out of the club and Atramor can sneak in? What do you think Ellaria, Purple?"
  23. They had the new sets in the Big Store at the park in Billund - the full range of the second wave. I hope to find some time very soon to make a review or two.
  24. Thank you for posting your Architecture MOC Cecilie! I'd really like to encourage everyone who entered to post their MOC in a new topic each in Special Themes so we can showcase these fantastic builds! In addition to deeplinking pictures of your MOC, please do also add a picture of the original building and a little bit of 'blurb' about the building (like CopMike asked us to present with our models on Saturday night).
  25. Do you have any other kind of weather than cold in Norway?
