10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think a lot of kids are also shaped by what they watch, video game they play, or what LEGO they already grow up with, until a certain age when they can buy their own big sets of course. I know multiple kids who have 0 licensed sets. Also could be a continent difference, as City even now in 2022, tends to be cheaper in Europe compared to mainly being overpriced in USA (gap got bigger and bigger in 2022), in the past Star Wars and even some Harry Potter was a lot higher priced in some Euro countries. Of course times have changed, some kids grow up with licensed Duplo now, and even Duplo had a Castle era in the past. Out of my own experience, I had a 15 year gap of no-LEGO so I have very little (nostalgic) connection with the newer 2000s themes, so even adult's LEGO experiences can shape purchases.- 2,976 replies

Was quite surprising to see at least online LEGO.com still selling some sets that were listed as retiring, like the 2020 City police station , usually retires when a new one comes out , and it was on 2021 retirement lists / Brickset retirement date. Maybe there was some overproduction that yet still sells (it's not discounted) so they kept it around for another year. (it's labeled retiring soon now though on the official site) I remember the 2017 police station still being available for a while as well after 2020.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 23. Rumors and discussion
TeriXeri replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A new small scale carrot is nice to see. The current Carrot and Apple parts have had their long nearly 25 year legacy from Scala and Belville , but in some context are giant when it comes to City/Friends or Minecraft (mainly if it's sticking out of a farm soil) Not saying a small piece should be the 100% replacement, but it's nice to have a smaller alternative , as both large and small carrots exist, and this will scale better in different situations. -

City calendar character is Tippy Dorman from LEGO City adventures. The grocer is Mr. Produce , also in set 60347: Grocery Store I don't think it's linked to Winter Village in any way.

The future of Back to the Future
TeriXeri replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in LEGO Licensed
Now we know the DeLorean video did indeed show the 10305 Lion's Castle , that Brick to the Future appearing at the end, and now, becoming a trademark, could be an interesting mix of BTTF and older themes, as a followup to the 90th anniversary sets. -
I wonder if LEGO would make some terrain of a classic space planet, that it would be Grey, or Light Yellow or Tan , either way, it will be a different grey from the old baseplates. I know grey ships on grey terrain is the original, but when looking at Barracuda Bay, Lion's Knight Castle etc, those all use very different terrain and water colors. Of course parts of the base infrastructure could still be grey, especially something that would reference an old space road baseplate with yellowish orange stripes. Even before this 90th anniversary, many references to the classic space terrain are yellow planets , as is the logo gold or yellow , the only exception was Benny's Space Squad, and the latest 10497 is more sand/tan color and not as yellow. As for actual planet terrain LEGO made outside of Star Wars, 2019 / 2022 used Mainly Dark Tan for Mars rocks and stuck with a mix of grey for the Moon, but for something fictional, it doesn't have to be either of those.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set

I don't use them now, I was mainly comparing to a past time of LEGO where they made up large bulk of a set.- 2,976 replies

6036: Skeleton Surprise did not have the gate from 6059, but I did build wall section from it. It was a small set, yet it had 4 castle panels and one of those Castle Turret tops.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Baseplates are 25x25cm, or 38x38 for the larger grey ones. Closed, this castle is already 49x33cm, my largest official set was Enchanted Island with 2 32 stud baseplates, 1 raised , which would be 50x25 cm so would pretty much fit into that area. The largest castle baseplate was 48x32 studs , 38x25cm (Royal Knight Castle) , folded open, 10305 reaches 70cm. Not to mention the height, then the overall volume is much much larger to any official Castle/Pirate Island. Railways / Space Monorails have had large areas but rails aren't a good comparison imo (and the topic of price is another topic entirely) I'm not saying baseplates are bad , not at all, they helped a lot in making big areas of land, or big raised areas to build on. I do agree for such a big set, another horse would've been nice, but LEGO picked the ox cart instead, the V shaped cart and farmer minifig clearly inspired by 1974-3: Smuggler's Hayride design. More frequent minifig horses, including the return of the Black, White and Brown horses would be very welcome, at minimum, the return of horses/saddles to the new Pick a Brick. Built the Crystal King set, quite a nice build. Front legs can't really move but I still think it's a great, unique creature/mech that fits well into fantasy and especially the 2020 Ninjago Dungeon wave's style. I also like that the Crystal King minifigs are different enough from the 2 sets, the temple version has long horns and 4 arms, and the other version cow horns and 2 arms. Also the subtle difference between Vengestone Guard and Warrior, and the head mould for those is simply amazing.

Overall , the front wheel spacing looks 4 stud inbetween based on the black plate, but those wheels are a lot wider. For rails themselves, it's looks like 1x2 jumpers and then a 4 stud tile spacing (so 5 total). Very large set indeed but as it looks right now a very big static model.

Same here, a bit weird it had LEGO Canada / US / Mexico adresses at the bottom, while it's an European order. Edit : Status just got updated, so it was probably just the weekend + a small delay, not sets coming from across the ocean.- 2,976 replies

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
While the 2020 Police Station and 2021 Shopping Street were on 2021 End of Life lists, they are still sold on LEGO.com , in Europe at least Could be remaining stock that's not sold as the police station wasn't very interesting compared to the 2017 option that remained sold for a long time and shopping street is a fairly expensive exclusive. Both are marked as retiring soon officially however, others are not yet. However, I still would not wait too long if a set appeared on such lists. -

So far out of the 2022 sets, only 4+ fire helicopter has a known retire date when it comes to Fire/Police/Medic themes. Don't take this as a guarantee, but I think the current 2022 released policestation/firestation/hospital will be 2 year-run sets until the end of 2023. Of course, never know what LEGO will do , especially in those times, of increasing prices, and shipment costs etc, maybe they'll cut on the total number of sets at some point. -
Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
In an ideal world the buildings are all 3-in-1 style and scale (mainly, without roads, and just plates and bricks, minimal panels and stickers, and larger vehicles would be seperate. But LEGO has tried multiple road systems in the past 5 year or so and now landed at this system. Of course 2 year isn't enough to tell if it's a long term, but LEGO had cardboard roads, and even Xtra taped roads briefly during/before 2021. I can see the road plates have a lot of potential on things like docksides or bridges, but I agree some actual sets with buildings try to cram too much into one set, usually multiple vehicles , roads and a small building. I'm not a huge fan of some of the simpler buildings (which vary a lot per set), but 2020 and before , without road plates had very simple buildings already, and some did not even have full roofs or walls either , for example the hangar in 60229: Rocket Assembly & Transport. But I fully understand City is often trying to work for a certain age group, the 4+ to 6+ sets are notable simpler then the 7+ sets. 3-in-1 sets go to 8+ and 9+ and have benefit of not having to budget vehicles most of the time into their Town sets, as well as Friends, friends is still very reliant on big wall stickers for details, and 3-in-1 has been using stickers in it's last Noodle shop. Still I think 2021-2022 city is going in a better direction compared to most 2020 sets. But there are some questionable things like Stuntz Loops etc, not sure how long that subtheme will be part of City, especially in north america those €20 sets costing $35 are not going to help sales, and the actual sets with loop just feel expensive because of large/very specialized parts and more like hotwheels and not LEGO, but have LEGO prices. I'll wait for 2023 to fully judge road plates' future, but so far Road Plate expansion isn't retiring, so looks like another year at least. I'm more wondering about something like Xtra, which is pretty much gone at this point, no new products for 2022, only some remains being sold off. -

1 week into august now , I doubt there will be anymore new City sets for this year (not counting Advent Calendar) While Main Square was revealed mid-august in 2020 (but discovered in a LEGO store before that), that was before the Road Plate era, I think there will be a replacement type of Roads+Buildings set for Town Centre instead in January. I assume some more locations with or without roads will be added as 1-2 yearly sets : Excluding Police/Fire/Medical sets, and subthemes, there were : 2021 (1 year): Skate Park 2022 (1 year): Picnic in the Park Beach Lifeguard Station School Day 2021+2022 (2 year): Family House Town Centre Shopping Street (altho retirement date on brickset says 2021, it's still sold on European LEGO.com) -

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Personally I think worst value 2022 City set is the Stuntz Double Loop. That set is will be €150 (after september) / $160 , even when considering 2 big loops made out of special parts, the vehicle build just is quite boring. The loops do work, jang has reviewed the smaller (€55 / $70) set, that's not even the issue. For a ramp or monster truck, one of the 2021 sets alongside the single loop set just offers more value. Also in Europe at least, the passenger train even at €10 more (after september) seems a much better value as well. But when it comes to regional pricing, those €20 stuntz set being $35 in USA is quite ridiculous, and % wise the worst regional price difference, and then second come some others like the farm/farmvan/chimp loop. Of course there's a difference between worst set and worst value, to me it's hard to seperate the 2 , but even then I think the 4+ cement mixer offers more relative then a double loop of 7x the price. This is before discounts are taken in consideration. -
That's a nice build for sure, first thoughts would be something from Hidden Side , blended with Apocalypseburg a bit, but without the ghost radars or madmax spikes.

Love it. Very nice choices of color mixing on the roof and greens,, and the small details are great, from the planks, the toy airplane, the eye and bird in the trees and the small stonework around the window, and the water. The shaping is nice , with no distracting gaps in the roof or walls. And it's hinged as well. Overall a whole lot of detail without feeling oversized.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I don't think that's sexist as even LEGO had an article about aiming of removing gender bias / stereotypes in 2021. An example would be , this year the Cargo train got a female driver, which was typically one of those minifig areas with mainly male figs before. -
I remember the 3-in-1 pirate ship build, they took that port/starboard coloring really serious in that one with the green/red being on their sides inside the main build (not even visible), later to re-use those colors in the alt builds. For this set, I think sticking to the original is the right choice, in space there aren't really fixed directions either so the colors of the lights relative to wing position are not a big deal to me
