10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I wasn't trying to link nexo to Castle universe/theme (there's 2 sets I consider Castles, the rest are vehicles and monsters), just saying it was the most recent robin hood reference LEGO has made, in loose relation to forestmen , which again was very regional in the 80s/90s catalogs. I would never say that AFOL , Castle fans etc would have to consider Nexo as a Castle theme. I consider it standalone, not part of the Castle universe/canon, an alternate universe/timeline is probably best description for it.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
1988 UK catalog has Robin Hood in 3 set names: 6103 Robin with Friends and Foes 6054 Robin Hood's Tree Hideaway 6066 Robin Hood's Secret Cave https://images.brickset.com/library/view/?f=catalogues/c88uk 1990 UK catalog calls the theme Robin Hood specificly , and also adds 6077 to yet another Robin hood set name Robin's Lake Stronghold https://images.brickset.com/library/catalogues/c90uk.pdf Belgium catalog from 1988 calls it 6054 Robin's hideout in dutch and french. https://images.brickset.com/library/view/?f=catalogues/c88be In dutch , the Faction is called Vrijbuiters, which basicly means looters, which fits with the whole robin hood look and theme, and UK calls the figures outlaws. Forestmen seems mainly the American name In a time before internet , Regional marketing was all over the place for sure, I personally knew the LEGO sets only from the paper catalogs or store visits. Catalogs also differ per region as seen by brickset, some earlier catalogs had prices, and names, some just had names, and later ones didn't even have set names at all. Set names also weren't a thing on a box either. Larger sets also contained smaller mini catalogs or flyers. In context to 10305, I think it's great to have secret entrance and hideout incorporated into the set as it fits really well with the outlaw/bandit nature of the faction, even outside of Robin Hood naming conventions, which also makes the Black color of the trees a lot more fitting as a homage to the theme.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
LEGO also named the wizard from Nexo Knights Merlok 2.0 and the minifig version that came with a book was a blue wizard with white beard. Merlok is much closer to Merlin then Majisto. Also the same theme had a robot with a forestmen outfit (even a 1x1 printed tile logo), called Robot Hoodlum. UK catalog has the 1993 Wizard named Merlin. 6020: Magic Shop = Merlin the Wizard 6048: Majisto's Magical Workshop = Merlin's Workshop https://images.brickset.com/library/view/?f=catalogues/c93uk2 Then a Dutch catalog names the Wizard Pokus, and the workshop Hokus Hokus Pokus is reference to a magic spell. Swiss catalog just calls it Wizard, no specific name in multiple languages. Another polybag variant of the wizard cart calls it Wiz the Wizard- 2,976 replies

Is it worth spending the money on sealed MVR/MMV?
TeriXeri replied to woodford86's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
LEGO did visibly change the pearl gold coloring around 2019, and the brown/darkred fix was announced somewhere for 2018, wonder if that was the cut-off point where LEGO used new manufacturing method for those colors. Now I'm kinda worried for Nexo Knight sets from 2016-2018 which use a lot of brown/darkbrown in the first wave, and a lot more gold in the second/3rd wave. -
10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Currently there are a lot of Disney sets with Castle, Palace, Stables, or Courtyard in the name, just not really the type of sets most AFOL people desire here. I don't want to derail the topic too much, as I see those disney sets as a complete different target group, and also did not prevent a theme like Elves co-existing with it for 4 years.- 2,976 replies

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
TeriXeri replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Recent July had set 43205: Ultimate Adventure Castle release from Disney. Main interesting part would be the classic castle balcony in white, While not new (it was also back in Systar Starship from 2019 LEGO Movie), it's still a useful part for Pirate builders especially. Also the second set to contain rounded grey wall panel. Printed could be useful as well. -

TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I don't really put that focus on set names that much, even way back then, many catalogs just had a set number and a star icon next to it if were new. Like really , they call this 43205: Ultimate Adventure Castle I see the point of the name, as it's a disney set with small side rooms for each disney princess' story, but easily taken out of context if someone knows nothing of disney and read "ultimate castle" or something.- 2,976 replies

My thoughts as well, I think it's a fairly good basic parts pack if you don't have a massive collection, nothing really Castle specific, and yes animals/figures are the weak point in that set (the brick dragon is fine) , 2 falcons and the shields, extra armor/helm are ok, but not a typical populated castle. 3-in-1 still has had some good figs, with the pirate captain, or recent vikings. My concern with 3-in-1 is that the theme goes all sorts of directions, and especially recently, it's trying to fill too many shoes at once, Town, Theme Park, Castle/Pirate/Viking big sets, some outdoor/exploration sets, brick build animals and some space stuff. I'm not a long-time collector so my viewpoint is basicly from 2018 onward, so I do value this set higher. Still, there are other examples of a Castle being even less appealing to AFOL. A set like of the overpriced , uber basic 4+ 10780: Mickey and Friends Castle Defenders , "castle" where a lot of the budget went into special moulds+prints, parts wise it's nothing of interest. But maybe it can be a stepping stone to get such young people interested in knights again as this set, while very specialized, covers some basics. On the product page of the new lion knight castle, that 4+ set even gets suggested as other products, alongside 3-in-1 and Blacksmith.

Lego City 2023 Rumours, Leaks, Information and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Izzynufc-2's topic in LEGO Town
Of course there's always the good old theory of a great vehicle leading to some subtheme. 2019 Diving Yacht - 2020 Divers 2020 Safari Jeep - 2021 Safari 2021 Tractor - 2022 Farm Going by that I'd choose Mobile Crane as a lead-in to Construction/Demolition, while mainly a 4+ theme lately, the last full industrial wave was 2018 Mining. For demolition, LEGO could re-use this print from 2022 as well : With Road plates added, it could also have a variation with roadworks, figures in high-visibility vests like this torso from 2022 : Of course nothing of this is confirmed, but this seems more likely then a horse-jumping theme (Horse transporter set) There's also the Space Ride amusement truck, and City did have a Faire People pack, so there's another possibility there. -
Looks like some of the Ninjago, City sets had some 1-month retailer exclusivity period but now starting to show up on a lot more online retailers since today July 1st .

Yeah seems there was some limited exclusivity, sets appeared on a lot more online retailers now. -
Double seal tape with numbers is normal on larger boxes, I just think they avoided the punch hole type of box for this special one because it has this vintage look 90th celebration.

Texas is bigger then all but 1 European country (only the European part of Russia is 15x bigger) so there's definately space to build bigger houses.

The codes can go well beyond 19 Here's a google image from another set that has number 644R1 :
-
It's a manufacturing code Manufacturing codes Before any LEGO® set leaves the factory, we make sure to put a manufacturing code on the box. This code lets us know when and where the set was made. The codes are 4 or 5 digits long and made up of 2 or 3 numbers, followed by a letter and then another number. You’ll usually find the code on the tape sealing large boxes or stamped near the barcode on the small ones. It might be a bit difficult to see at first, but if you tilt the box, you should be able to read it. The numbers aren’t just on LEGO boxes. If you look carefully, you’ll find them on the plastic bags that contain bricks, the Collectible Minifigures bags, brick buckets, and even on LEGO bricks! https://www.lego.com/sl-si/service/help/fun-for-fans/behind-the-scenes/brick-facts/manufacturing-codes-blt249035ca5f270042

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Easiest mod to the Blacksmith to put it more in line with MMV would be to put the wooden section (middle and roof) on a ground level base that would save about 6-7 bricks of height The floors are already modular / removable that way. It's not perfect solution but it's one that can keep the set intact.- 2,976 replies

Right now the really old sets are at a different location, the nexo sets are in a glass doored shelf, and the rest in open shelves, but need to take apart a bunch of sets (from other themes like City/Creator 3-in-1 etc) to have room for a castle the size of lion knight.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
TeriXeri replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The height of MMV looks great next to those Castle walls. Ideas blacksmith almost reaching the tower's height looks weird to me when it's right next to it, and I was planning to MOD it anyway to fit more with 31120. And I'm a bit biased by fantasy games like World of Warcraft's Stormwind City, which has buildings that look quite like the IDEAS blacksmith with blue roofs and the woodwork and white walls, but the regular buildings don't giganticly tower over the rest of the City's Towers, even while the city has some very tall landmarks like the Wizard's Sanctum tower, the Cathedral and the Main Keep. To me the Blacksmith really has the style of the Inns in WoW, in particular the garrison version, except the blacksmith set has another floor of brick below it, which makes it that much taller (the in-game buildings have a basement floor below it instead) 31120 when folded up reminds me a lot of the garrison barracks as well : Still really cool to see all those comparisons- 2,976 replies

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
If there are any September/October themes/sets, there's probably more info about those in July like past few years. Ski Resort 2019 had first official picture ~20 July 2019. Main Square 2020 had first official picture ~31 July 2020. Stuntz 2021 was an October wave but found earlier in June in a catalog, official pictures at the start of July. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
TeriXeri replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If LEGO adds some code back to packaging, they should just sell CMF figs seperately on their website as well (Limit 1 when the series releases) so people can get a specific figure or a set directly from LEGO. Right now a lot of the reactions on sites like brickset etc, make it seem every CMF buyer is a "feeler" , but there are many people who don't have access to stores that sell CMF nearby. -
Here are some Banana LEGO T-Rexes Top row middle actually looks like a LEGO T-rex with a banana tail.
