Looks good. especially more smaller sets, but especially for the bigger sets, theme is still suffering from being full priced most of the time, only discounted when trying to get rid of end-of-life stock. That said, I do have some stand out sets that are unique and fun, the theme is quite varied , even next year.

LEGO Ninjago 2023 Discussion

Cole dragon would be a decent part pack for a Deathwing WoW Moc, at least at a somewhat cartoony scale, other then that, weird proportions, especially tiny wings on thick legs. Brick box buildings and training area looks nice, especially with the style of 2022 Dojo's roofs and training ground's expansion, vehicles are certainly simple , it's a 5+ set after all, but thankfully not using a big 4+ chassis. Mech looks great, very slender and very humanoid looking, also looks like a new shooter system, or a different sized spring loaded brick + new bolt design. -
I really wish they had made 1 more €10-20 set focused on the farm crops to expand this (LEGO has the €20 road plate set after all). Xtra theme would've worked as well but that seems to have disappeared with no further notice, or maybe a new version of a set like 40261: Thanksgiving Harvest with the newer crop pieces. LEGO keeps bringing out systems that can expand, yet it defeats the point a bit in sets like this when 2/3 is basicly vehice budget. (based on LEGO vans this size costing about €20 in the past) I mean, surely it inspires MOCing your own terrain expansions etc, but the crops in this set are well done imo and deserve more then just the half year lifespan it got, at least in the form of a bit more attention to the terrain and the new crop moulds. (surely we'll see the plant/corn pieces probably more often from now but still) Also the price in some regions it unexplainable high for the farm/grocery store sets.

I'd like to see more road plate expansion pack, with unprinted 16x8 parts, and generally more 1x4 and 2x4 tiles to connect. I mean, the glow in the dark lights, the plants, and crossing are a good start, but with sets getting parking spaces, half lane roads (8 wide), I hope those road packs continue. Xtra road signs or glow in dark lights etc would've been nice as well but that "theme" seems to have stopped.

LEGO Ninjago 2023 Discussion

Zane also got a spinner in 2022, just not a it's own small set (zane did get a small mech standalone set), but was included in the training center which is already retiring before the dojo itself, despite releasing 3 months later. The training center retiring could have different reasons, most likely a zane spinner + brick box training center being part of similar 2023 products, but also unknown reasons probably. I do like that the brick box continues the dojo style, with the darkgreen roofs and brown/white walls and red/gold accents, so you can make a larger layout. -
Yeah I see it now, new cabinet piece with built in shelves. Reminds me of the now 50 year old Homemaker cabinets, but of course at a different scale. Also there seem to be ridges in the cabinet itself for possibly sliding in drawers.

Looks quite nice, like a larger version of the previous versions but also those dome windows remind me a lot of Paradisa. Figures are certainly nice as well, love the flared pants look. More pictures on other already known sets as well, love the diner set, I didn't get the city burger shop(fire) set or more recent sandwich shop GWP, but this is a very nice alternative. Interior on Autumns house looks fantastic, with a cozy dining table and filled kitchen (new 3 wide door frame for the fridge?), seperate living room and bathroom with a bath instead of a toilet for once. Looking forward for the bedroom sets.

I do like the brick box and how it seems to continue the style of the 2022 dojo/training ground, but lack of other location makes me only hope for something in summer I suppose. At least all the sets seem quite fun and nice, and no set slots taken up by spinners this time (the 2022 spinners were very basic, and had very few parts compared to previous versions) Perhaps the most interesting are the 2 "students" included in the box

LEGO Creator 2022 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to TeriXeri's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Finally got around building the viking ship / serpent , still bigger then I thought from pictures, including the monster, very clever build techniques as well. Serpent front half could've been more snake like with more articulation points but I think it's fine as is. 3-in-1 remains one of my top favorite themes, but I would not get 2-3 of this set for the alt builds, especially with a Viking Village probably next year from that Target/Ideas vote (however did not judge the alt builds in person cause I have not built them, they still look clever use of parts) -
Some thoughts after YEARS without a castle theme
TeriXeri replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Regular Sets (like Benny's was sold a lot) from webshops ship within only a few days (1-3 days from order to delivery is almost standard here on most shops) , wheras PAB can take like 2 weeks+ BAM also requires specific stores to happen to be nearby, not all countries have them, and then the larger countries still have distance issues. Until the Online BAM expands at least, but that'll still run into probably 1-2 week+ time to ship etc. Online BAM doesn't say it's in Beta anymore but the parts list hasn't expanded yet. (I'm even fine if online BAM gets the parts 1 year or so after stores as they said) LEGO.com exclusive Blister packs aren't preferable either, as they are usually overpriced (see recent City version of bike charge station for example) Of course PAB/BAM have an advantage of getting the exact minifig parts you want, so the extra time makes sense considering it's hand picked (I assume on the online orders). -

Promobricks updated their end of life list and indeed some of the 2022 summer sets are retiring, like the farm Van, chicken coop and supermarket , double confirmed by LEGO.com adding it to Retiring Soon. https://www.promobricks.de/lego-eol-liste-2022/137026/#LEGO_City -
Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I do like the rabbit parade set, and it's just 1 minifig set for the year but I'm ok with it, it's unique enough imo. 2024 probably will be a bit more spectacular as they can do a lot with year of the Dragon. -
Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
It goes both ways for me, I don't really care about the name or story , especially not in City, but I do like some of the characters getting special attention in terms of looks. (characters like Gracie Goodheart or Chief Wheeler still stand out over the regular police figs), Snake Rattler is some stereotypical western outlaw styled bandit, then the Stuntz people, ice cream bandits and some others have some rather colorful looking figs. But yeah Duke Detain appeared as the same exact fig a few too many times, probably the case of a "main character" of the LCA show. However, especially in 2022, even the "unnamed" figs have become more unique, just some examples that unnamed figs don't have to be bland or boring. -
Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I wonder if City is getting a reboot soon (mainly meaning character wise), with Friends getting completely reworked, and rumours of Ninjago changing as well, I wonder if at least some City things will change a bit. While City has improved a bit at least on their figures (no more 80% duke detain in police sets). However, some of the "named" City characters have been great recently, with more unique styles, colors and hair pieces etc, and even while some characters do repeat in sets, (for example Stuntz characters show in up in Hospital or Advent calendar). While Duke and Freya still appeared in 2022 sets, distribution of characters has gotten somewhat better compared to 2019/2020, which had more repeats. Currently I can't find anything if LEGO City Adventures will have a season 5, not that I really follow the show, but it could affect characters in sets. -
REVIEW: 71771 The Crystal King Temple

It's a nice set imo, but for me, the fact it fits well together with the 2020 Dungeon sets did appeal even more.- 4 replies

I think the main rules are like based on math, as sometimes pieces just have to fit together almost like a set is a puzzle. Especially in modern times there's a lot more math applied because sideways and upside down building is becoming more norm then exception, as well as using wedge plates and hinge bricks together more often to get certain angles like Lion Knight Castle. LEGO has made a lot more SNOT bricks / brackets lately, so maybe a plate with studs on 2 sides is possible eventually but it doesn't seem the focus right now. Other companies seem to just make pieces on-demand if they need a certain angle for let's say a build based on a real Tank model kit. LEGO also makes specialized pieces of course but at least for bricks, plates and tiles they are a bit more conservative based on math rules and existing parts when possible.

Skulkin got updated heads in 2019, last seen in a small 2021 set but overall only have been in very few sets with little presence with no location/vehicle whatsoever since Legacy, so if a villain type would replace those orange Snakes , even in Core, Skulkin would be nice imo. Also the 2020 (master of the mountain) Skull mould could easily be used as generic skeletons, decoration , or maybe even ammunition ( 2521: Lightning Dragon Battle and 2505: Garmadon's Dark Fortress had skull-rockets)

This "new" style of building architecture is great, the new characters as well. The diner, dog rescue center and autumn's house look pretty good and for 2023, fairly priced before discounts. No vehicles included is great as well, so the budget goes to the buildings, like 3-in-1 sets. City buildings just focus a lot on vehicles, just the way that theme goes with it's bigger focus on Action instead of Architecture. With 3-in-1 buildings being a bit rarer, this is a welcome change, yes Friends already had shops and houses for 10 years, but I like what's offered here. I never really got into Friends much but this looks to become one of my favorite new themes.

With Friends supposedly getting an entirely new group of main characters, I wouldn't rule out new ninjas yet, at some point.

2022 Friends Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
I do think a reboot like this can be a good thing. Even while I'm not a long time collector, having new characters is interesting to see after basicly 10 years of the same main cast. I think it's more interesting compared to re-releasing modernized version of old sets, for example , Paisley's House , Autumn House (assuming 2 characters), instead of a remake of Olivia's House (2012) Also new side characters, new pets, new hobbies, new dress styles, new use of the expanded skin tones (from 3 to 6 in 2022), etc.- 136 replies

I think the set isn't a mistake, but lack of alternative way to build the base model without app instructions was a mistake. Mission sets themselves are great value parts packs imo, one of the better value City sets in current times. I mean, Hidden Side , Nexo, or Vidiyo could be build via paper instructions, never need app at all. Mario doesn't come with paper instructions but still comes with PDF, so this choice of no PDF at all is weird for those City sets.

I think the current way of reveals usually being around first week of December has a lot to do with trying to sell existing products for christmas etc. I don't think it's a coincidence that official reveals for winter sets often are right after Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend, and official start of selling sets starts at 26 December (Boxing Day, which is a shopping day in some areas) -
