LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
2019 Winter city sets were officially revealed at the end of November 2018, while also being "leaked" by being on shelves a week before that. -
Even to adults, the color scheme is amazing. Trans-Neon Orange is just an amazing color, I loved when they used it for flames and such as well. Of course nowdays the regular trans-orange looks okay for like City-Fire sets or even the lava used in multiple theme. But as far as space goes, the trans-orange canopy color of the Mars-Mission sets never had the same feeling to me as neon color from Ice Planet or Nexo Knights. For me the color scheme of Nexo Knights with it's neon orange, reminded me a lot of Ice Planet, and certainly played a role in getting back into LEGO after 15 years Trans Bright-Green and Trans Neon Yellow are just awesome as well when used in good contrast.

Physical guide for applying stickers?
TeriXeri replied to badbob001's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I recently started to use water with some dishwashing liquid soap and it works well applying the sticker on a wet part, less to no air bubbles and sliding really helps aligning things better. -
What is the Status of LEGO Constraction?
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There was a Bionicle sticker in the Hidden Side bus set, but that could just be an Easter Egg. Of course there's still the speculation about the "Leaf" theme having set numbers very close to the last Bionicle wave. -
Why people want perfect box? for investment? or OCD?
TeriXeri replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For small boxes with the thinner cardboard I agree that works, but some of the larger boxes with the thicker cardboard really do take more space, both vertically and area because they tend to work upwards. A theme like Nexo Knights generally used many larger/thicker boxes. I don't intend to sell my sets. -

I cut my boxes on my opened/built sets and keep the front/back for now to save space. -
LEGO Speed Champions 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Lamborghini Twin Pack certainly my most-wanted. If they'd do a Lamborghini Diablo in Purple that'd be amazing. Orange, Green or Yellow could work well for a Huracan/Murcielago/Aventador -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I agree here , the Jet and Helicopter sets were great and different from regular police. Police is the best way to introduce "Military" looking vehicles , the helicopter looking like a "Cobra" and the Jet like a hybrid F16/F18. Even the Parachute works pretty well. I don't count the 2019 Police car as Sky police, but still a great set as well. I didn't get the airbase or armored truck sets as I didn't like some parts of it (the criminal twincopter and the large "cargo" plane), which made those sets more expensive. I can understand arguments for the retail US price, yes it's too high, but I got the Helicopter on sale for around €14 and the Jet for €19. I know this thread is about Modulars, so don't want to move too much off-topic. -
This set and faction of Castle was amazing, it's my favorite looking LEGO Castle heraldry as well, the colors just work very well, with the white/blue/yellow/red representing the 4 more classic basic brick colors. I don't have this set myself but 3 others from this theme (Royal King / Skeleton Surprise / Royal Drawbridge) and even those smaller sets were well done, and I used to make my own smaller castles from that on the 16x32 baseplate.

I'd love more regular cars as well, they had many great cars 4 and 6 wide, but many of them tend to be Police Villain cars (red or darkred), or in Friends, or larger other sets (like the 2016 Ferry or Service Station) Polybags had some smaller 4-wide civilian cars as well but those aren't always easy to find. The 2019 Kayak Set was great however, as an example. 2014 had this , 2 actual normal cars. If they'd use the newer wheels and update the designs a bit that'd work.

Selling vehicles and buildings mostly seperate gets my priority (instead of the recent Police in the 90s had a nice vehicle pack with a motorcycle, suv, boat trailer, helicopter. (at 4-wide scale) Also the Racing theme of Town were sold in multiples at times, or a truck with multiple race cars. Some more recent examples , all from 2017, I'd love to see more of this at 4-5 wide scale, and overall more race or regular cars at smaller scale (and not just in Polybags) Then there's also the larger mega sets like Capital City or Donut Shop, which are big and expensive, and hard to always like 100% of since they contain so many seperate builds that could be their own sets. I also prefer single-sold Speed Champions over the 2-packs which don't always have 2 good cars (opinion). I don't Bricklink/Ebay seperate parts of sets as I like buying and opening a full new set.

So, what are Leaf, IP-2 and Zebra?
TeriXeri replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Could certainly be. DC Superhero Girls was in 2017. Elves ended after 2018. 2019 had some Minidolls in The Lego Movie 2 2020 just has Friends so far. -
@pooda Telephone repair could be a nice set. Set 6422 from 1998 wasn't too bad, despite the vehicle being junior, the rest of the content of the set was great. So an upgrade to this could be a good set imo after more then 20 years, basicly a Van with tools, and some type of Phone Booth or Electric Device to repair.

I am still really selective on what themes to collect since coming back into LEGO since 2016. While I was hyped at the start for Hidden Side, now eventually decided to skip it and wait out some other themes in the future. Nexo Knights is what brought me back in 2016 since 2000, and I got most of that theme's sets/books/magazines, so another Castle theme is high on my list (not Harry Potter however). 3-in-1 buildings, City people packs and some other various sets still can be very interesting as well.

I think Star Wars will not take a true break with how much it sells for the forseeable years, and also Disney having a big portion of LEGO sets overall with multiple CMF, Castle/Train, and the regular sets. Also consider the last Harry Potter Wizarding movie was over 8 years ago, and the theme got rebooted hugely in 2018 with many sets, CMF , bricktober , advent calendar and a "UCS" Microscale hogwarts type set. I realise there's Fantastic Beasts now, but Harry Potter and Star Wars are just very popular even from their oldest movies. Even just for in-house themes there's been multiple action themes with elements that'd could be seen in Space themes. - Chima, Nexo Knights, Ninjago (Mechs / Aircraft / High-Tech Vehicles / "fantasy" creatures + droids) - Lego Movie 1+2 (Space Ships / Other planets / "Aliens") I'm not saying that Space themes can't exist now while something like Ninjago is still ongoing, but we had at least 2 of those themes run at the same time. 2013 - Chima , Ninjago , Galaxy Squad 2014 - Chima , Ninjago , Lego Movie 1 2015 - Chima , Ninjago , Lego Movie 1 , City-Space 2016 - Nexo Knights, Ninjago 2017 - Nexo Knights, Ninjago 2018 - Nexo Knights (1HY), Ninjago 2019 - Ninjago, Lego Movie 2 , City-Space 2020 is the first time where there might be room for new action/sci-fi themes. , Elves also ended after 2018, but 2019 TLM2 had a minidoll presence. 2020 is more similar to 2016 in that regard, with themes ending and for now, we know Ninjago is the only theme for sure to continue (I'll leave Hidden Side out for now), and there's the mystery "Leaf" theme.

Lego Movie 1 and 2 can't be forgotten, while not 100% full Space themes, it has/had multiple sets featuring Space related builds. I do not consider Nexo Knights Space at all, but Lego Movie 2 certainly had a Spaceship set released as recent as August 2019 with the Wyld-Mayhem Star Fighter set.

Amazing set, and I don't even collect Winter Village sets. This fits right in a Creator 3-in-1 / City scale town. I have no problem with open-back buildings, and both the interior and exterior are great. Also could be easily modified into a regular non-winter style house.

Legoland Town in the 80s and 90s managed to get a lot of varied builds with far less parts then now. While current builds obviously often have a lot more detail because of the parts, the size/scale increased as a result. A Town display could be very compact, and the parts used were more basic, overall you ended up with more bricks/plates, instead of nowadays a lot more parts, but less of each part. Also old sets had less colors, things looked more cohesive, while nowadays there is more choice, but you get less of each color. (especially comparing something like the BASIC theme with current CLASSIC boxes) Still, I don't think one is "better" automaticly, styles have changed over time, and nostalgia could play some role for people as well. Overall, I think both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Late 90s Town.jr also doesn't compare to either City or most of the other Town/System sets, but are closer to Juniors or 4+ age targets. For Town/City I am just speaking of the minifig vehicles/buildings here and not the smaller builds that could not even fit a figure (which wasn't just seen in early Town, modern examples are some Creator, Racers, Classic and other Microscale sets) For me personally, I keep my old pre 2000s sets seperate from my post-dark age (2016+) sets.

LEGO Friends uses a Castle icon in the infographic , interesting choice.

Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
TeriXeri replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I personally will never call Nexo Knights a Space theme. However I can imagine some people see it as such due to the neon-orange or bright-green transparent parts and "technology" involved. But this isn't the first time we see bright/transparent colors in non-space themes. -
I always prefer printed parts. I only suggested stickers as they have done an Xtra sticker pack already, and in the case of flags, they simply won't print dozens, if not hundreds of different flags/signs.
-
While not technically City, I'd still love more Xtra packs that can add on a City (and is viable in multiples) Those parts could be printed or have a seperate sticker sheet pack (that doesn't instantly sell out) : - Traffic Signs - Flags - Fences , Construction/Road Barriers Generic rarer plants/animals : - Palm Trees - Cat + Dog + Parrot - Horses + Saddles - Seagulls and Pigeons

Around the mid 2000s until 2010s Creator provided the larger houses, and Friends arrived in 2012 City itself had very few house sets at all. (2010) City, not that much different in style compared to a 3-in-1 set released in recent years. 3-in-1 still provides houses, and the larger buildings are found in Creator-Expert, with some outlier sets having houses as well (Emmet Dream House for example) However that's still not much different from the Town days, where themes like Basic and Paradisa were around at the same time. (1983) Basic vs (1983) Town (1990) Basic (1992) Paradisa While Town had a lot of (vacation)houses from 1978-1990, the 90s were very empty of pure house sets, and even City. Right now we get at least 1 or more house sets yearly again via multiple themes, so my opinion is that LEGO houses are in a better period compared to let's say 1993-2003. While Creator certainly shifted from the 2004-2011 Creator was the main theme that provided houses, City only had 1 standalone house set mentioned above in 2010. Since around 2012 some more changes happened : - 2012-now Friends came around as a theme, and while it certainly is somewhatfrom Town or even Paradisa in some aspects, the theme has been around ever since having consistently provided many buildings. - 2007-now buildings that are now mostly known as "modulars" came to be, and labeled under Creator since 2013, Expert since 2014.
