  1. Even the last wave of TLM2 sets been on sale on LEGO.com and didn't even make it to regular retailers outside of Amazon (in my region) Also sets being out of stock , likely due to not being produced much anymore.
  2. I personally think 31096: Twin-Rotor Helicopter is a lot better in both design and value. I know it's not City or Police, but it has more interesting and varied parts, and a mechanism that makes both blades spin via a knob on the back, as well as a rope winch and some cargo space. Even 60173: Mountain Arrest has some more going on even while the helicopter is smaller. Both sets are about €50-€55 retail price but at least in my area are still on shelves and on discount to around €35.
  3. 8 wide overall is a positive development for the main purpose of the theme : Representations of real-life cars in LEGO bricks form with proper details/shaping. Also fitting 4 figures in the larger cars wasn't possible before. But when comparing it to playthemes like City, then 8 wide is somewhat too large It's all about perspective imo. It will be a good change for some people, and a not so good change for others as people have different goals with their LEGO. I can certainly see the positives in regards to the designers and LEGO being able to design more car brands/sets in greater detail, possibly getting more varied vehicles. For me personally, until I see reviews, I'd say 8 wide is mostly too large for my current style of vehicles. The biggest negative likely will be the increased parts count/price, as with the Lambo set being a 650+ pieces set for 2 cars.
  4. More recent (2017-2018) Creator 3-in-1 sets have used 8x8 and 8x16 sections that can be interchanged, that size also has been used for sections in a few other themes/sets like the 2018 City Hospital and a LEGO Store set : 3-in-1 system was also called "modular" at the time, not to be confused with Creator Expert modulars. https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Creator/subtheme-Modular In 2019, the Creator 3-in-1 set uses multiple 12x12 sections that have about 8x12 being the building itself. I know those aren't "Classic" standards but might help with some open-backed buildings.
  5. I don't find that one odd, but that's likely has to do with having many Aaron figures (that use the same double-sided head), using this same style of freckle-nose. Nexo Knights was the theme that got me back into LEGO after 16 years. Some of the early 2000s figures certainly look a lot more weird/creepy/angry etc, but I also have no nostalgia to most of those as I was in "dark age" from around 2001-2015, Nexo Knights came out 2016.
  6. I had 2 of those exact figures from divers set 6559 and 2 more figures using this head in a Train/Spaceport set, and they looked a lot better then this, in this particular picture example it's clearly a printing error of too much ink being applied. It's supposed to look like this : Might not be the most amazing face, but still better then the over-printed one.
  7. Wish I knew the price for Build-a-Minifig in NL, but since Pick a Brick cups seem very expensive (at €17.99), I don't expect BAM to be cheap. 3 figs for €10 would be within limits of "acceptable", more then that however not so much. (right now collectable minifigures are €3.99 and I sometimes get a LEGO Magazine usually with a figure+parts for €4.99) In the end it's still better then having no LEGO stores in the country at all. (which was the case before this month)
  8. Seems large PAB cup are €17.99 in NL.
  9. Since the article says this it seems 8 wide is the new standard for 2020 : "Fortunately, 2020 marks the start of a new chapter for LEGO Speed Champions with the evolution to the more accurate ‘8 Studs Wide’ design and we felt that we could now do the popular brand justice." https://sportscar365.com/imsa/lamborghini-st/lego-lamborghini-huracan-urus-race-car-models-unveiled/ On one hand I do think they look amazing at 8 wide, when it comes to display models/realism, however for use in an actual (non-modular) City , they are just huge. I only have 2 SC sets (911 and F40 from 2019), and while Lambo is one of my favorite supercar designs/brands, this upscaling might just be too big for my purpose. But again, in a larger layout (modulars or larger buildings) the new cars having better shape/parts use and realism (compared to the real-life thing, not minifigs), it's an improvement. Of course due to the increased parts, the price likely goes up as well however, and this Lambo set has 659 parts might be pretty expensive around €55-65, which for me is really high for "just" 2 cars.
  10. They had a blue scorpion in the last 2019 €9.99 4x4 desert rally car, so putting at least 1 small animal in a safari set would make sense. Also hope there's an animal in the supposedly €9.99 "Forest Fire" set
  11. I know there is another 2020 SC topic, but to direct answer this case : the sticker sheet was from the 2019 McLaren Senna set not a new 2020 set. (pictures directly from bricklink) set nr 75892 https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=75892-1
  12. The light bluish grey baseplates at 48x48 studs are larger then the regular 32x32 baseplates by 2.25 times. https://brickset.com/sets/10701-1/48x48-Grey-Baseplate Light bluish and Dark bluish grey 32x32 baseplates exist but are part of sets/promotions and not sold seperately (except on bricklink etc)
  13. They used the Burger Bar picture for the $9.99 4+ Fire set (page 11)
  14. I used to use road and baseplates on my old LEGO (pre 2000s), but I don't use those now, as I keep old and new seperate. Since I got back into new LEGO after 2017, I have some 48x48 baseplates if I wanted to build, and I have 20 of those double-sided cardboard playmats (10 City/10 Friends) for some roads/grass/beach type ground decoration. I don't have a permanent layout, and no Modular buildings, so playmats work fine with smaller buildings (City / Creator 3-in-1)
  15. Friends had a Hospital in June 2017 (retired), City in June 2018 (still sold), so if they'd do something even remotely related to medical theme in Creator Expert, it's still not the same year in 2020.
  16. I got more of a dojo / martial arts vibe off that figure. Pixelated stain might have to do with the "gaming" theme they seem to be doing for Ninjago 2020.
  17. I haven't visited the NL store yet (Utrecht) , so if someone has info on that, would be nice to know the pick-a-brick price. Amsterdam store opening later this year as well.
  18. While it might bring some interesting parts/molds for future sets, no interest in the figures myself. Looks too far off LEGO for me, even compared to Fabuland or Simpsons/Disney heads, maybe the colors contribute to that as well. I assume this could also open the way for more Molded specialized figures for the Minions sets. Still, seeing LEGO experiment/expand with (likely) one-off short-lived themes for animated movies isn't a bad thing.
  19. Even for trains, I think it still comes down to preference, that's the thing with LEGO, the fact it can be adapted/changed easily makes it somewhat different then a model railroad (for example marklin). Also even just going by this forum, preference seems to vary a lot, people have different layouts, different scales of cars, and trains, and different opinions of "minifig scale" etc, which makes perfect sense for a flexible toy system like LEGO. While sets have been more and more based off real life cars over the years (Speed Champions most notably), and recently the Disney Train being based on a real (amusement park) Train, there's no true standard. Creator 3-in-1 has had cars from tiny 4-wide cars that come with houses to 8+ wide camper/4x4 truck in the same recent years. But variation vehicle sizes has been a thing pretty much forever, from system vehicles that don't even fit vehicles, to Model Team, to small to huge technic cars. Trains have been 6-wide in sets, but that doesn't mean it's bad to adapt to 8-wide if said person would like that.
  20. I really liked the 2019 Police Car, if race cars continue at that scale it'd be great, as they really do match 6 wide sportscars like the F40 and 911 of this year as well. That said, the 4+ wide Kayak car of 2019 was nice as well, not everything has to be exactly 6 studs+fenders to be good. I don't mind the 8 wide Creator 3-in-1 vehicles that much, especially the large (31052) 2016 camper set was great. As for 2020 Speed Champions, I hope the Lamborghini cars are not 8 wide, I can understand the Jaguar Pace car being 8 wide to fit 4 figures but unless they make the Lamborghini Urus (and want it to fit 4 figs again), it should be at most 6 wide.
  21. Ideas getting pretty crowded again with 11 for next review stage, and then another 6 achieved 10.000 after that. While licensed sets aren't really my thing, I can see the appeal/nostalgia for the people enjoy the particular show/movie/game/music etc.
  22. It's impossible to know exact production part variants box by box 100%. No website even lists 4085b clips appearing in the Fortrex set, yet I got 2 of them in the set, and also 2 4085d variants in the same box. Bricklink lists 2017 as the last year for that part, Rebrickable 2016, so even there is conflicting info. I don't know what those websites base their info on either. As surely not all boxed set is going to be reported/checked 100% when opened. Some people might not even notice parts variants in their own bricklink shops.
  23. I got 2x light-blueish grey 4085b version clips in the Fortrex, which is a 2016 set, that same box also had 2x 4085d versions. Bricklink says that part variant was made until 2017, Rebrickable lists 2016, maybe it was leftover parts stock they had to get rid of. I think it's impossible to have 100% accuracy for each set chance to have an older variant, so going by year seems the best alternative, because it likely varied per box, factory location, and production run time.
  24. I don't mind the use of white here. Even while the skeletons in a museum are rarely as light colored as LEGO white, I still think it's a better color then tan to begin with. Example of a T-Rex being in a Dutch Museum : Due to the lighting, white is pretty approprate here for a Toy model skeleton, especially with the intention to include the minifig skeleton which they did. While they could have used variants of Tan, Brown or Grey here, I think white looks more uniform unless LEGO started using marbled parts for a more natural/worn look. White also stands out with the black stands they used in the set. But that's just my opinion. Other dinosaurs in the same (recently modernized) museum : Like others have said, I can see it possible to make other skeleton models from the set, and white parts also make it fairly easy to customize/add to it, as it's a fairly common color.
  25. The Friends Hospital was released around 1 June 2017, while the City Hospital was released around 1 June 2018, 1 year later. Many sets tend to stop being sold after around 2 years, at least on local webstores here. Some smaller sets seem to be less available within 1 year if similar replacement sets are made Example are the Friends Heart Box sets, LEGO themselves stopped selling the first wave (December 2018), shortly after the Summer versions were sold (June 2019). Both are still found on various webstores however. Exceptions seem to exist on a few sets like City Fire (2016, replaced in 2019) and regular City Police stations (2017, replaced in 2020) , which have around 3 year release cycle until replacement.
