  1. There's only 1 true junior set in this wave and that's the 4+ one, the rest uses plates/bricks very similar parts usages to 2017 Police. Yes, the Flying helicopters are simple, but they have to be, they are 100% playthings, not a building experience, as LEGO has tried other play features in recent times like parachutes and Ninjago Flyers. But City has been using such parts for a long time , in fact 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 Police/Fire helicopters used such parts, alongside some subthemes like Medical or Arctic, or the 2019 Fire Plane. Even so, the 2019 Creator 3-in-1 Twin Rotor helicopter could fit into City or be changed to a single rotor. That said , the 2019 Sky Police Helicopter is actually very good imo, different, yes, but good, even if you don't use the net shooter.
  2. So far, some very good sets imo. I skipped on the 2019 Burger Bar Fire and I love this Burger-Monster-Truck, and doesn't look too hard to add regular wheels to it as well. Also a nice brick-built minifig burger instead of using studs, even while it's bigger then a minifig's head using 2x2 rounded base, it's a Monster-Burger after all The Toy Shop set reminds me of Corner Deli and seems to use the 2019 12x12 scale street/building so can be easily connected to the 2019 Pet Shop as well, I love it. Also a mini version of the Rocket Ride doesn't look too bad and alternate builds all look useful instead of 1 being extremely small. The Dragon/Wolf(or Sabertooth?)/Scorpion set doesn't look bad even if it's using the concept of previous creature sets, it still looks fresh with the different parts and colors. Brick-Built treasure chest with actual loot is a nice extra. As for the sets I care less about : Microscale Monster truck and Rocket Truck.
  3. Before my dark ages (around 2000-2001), my last Space sets were Insectoids. I still have them built (I have my old lego at a different location), and they still amaze me every time I see them in great condition. A lot of parts with Metallic printing, transparent parts in green and neon yellow, and the amazing light/sound element that still works after now 20+ years. I still remember being in a store and picking the 5600 Radio Control Racer instead of the Arachnid base back in 1998, I'd likely would have certainly picked the Space set if it were now.
  4. Oh yeah, in that aspect, definately very similar in shape / location of lights / bars .
  5. Certainly looks a lot better then that to me, seeing how it uses more varied and smaller parts. Might not be a huge volume set for around €10 but that's how many small City sets go now since 2019 , still a fair deal imo. Directly compared to 2019 I like the 2020 set better. 4+ sets have their place, I just skip them myself. At least they reversed fire and police 4+ sets: 2019 had a €10 patrol car, 2020 a 4+ police set with the dog unit.
  6. I assume it's a 1-wave thing, like the Parachutes of 2019 (which function fine as I have one) I don't see it as "Jr." beside the 4+ set. I can understand the compromises made on the Helicopters for play so they have to be simple and remind me of toys like this, but I also hope those are the only 2 sets doing that this year. They do remind of toys like this : But also Ninjago had flyers in 2015 and 2018 :
  7. Seems to use technic pins to re-arrange it a bit as well, likely can put prison / gate / main building sections apart.
  8. Sets look good at first glance , some do come close to what I predicted. Those "Flying Helicopters" seem like made up of only a few parts but I can see the play value for kids in them, as they have proven with Spinjitzu spinners/flyers before. As for myself : likely getting the Police HQ, Forest Fire (set with owl), and Highway Arrest (2 cars) sets first, possibly the Monstertruck/Bank set as well. Of course need to see final prices and more pictures overall, but the set prices on the Fire Helicopter set rumored at €25 could be true now with that flying mechanism, despite it's low parts count <100
  9. So as other themes got revealed, hopefully Creator 3-in-1 is soon as well. Creator 3-in-1 does repeat similar type of sets 1-3 yearly, especially the non-minifig sets. 31099 Propeller Plane 128 pieces : Likely microscale , or at least 1 or more alternate builds are , see 2018 or 2017 31100 Sports Car 134 pieces : likely similar to 2018 or 2017 car sets (almost 100 less parts then the 2019 car) 31101 Monster Truck 163 pieces : likely something similar to 2019 Buggy set 31102 Fire Dragon 234 pieces : the typical 3-in-1 Monster set of the wave like 2018 or 2015. 31103 Rocket Truck 198 pieces: likely is some weird rocket car like they had in 2018, Or Microscale Rocket transporter (Space theme) , following previous sets 31103 Monster Burger Truck : 499 sounds like a mobile food truck , maybe Hidden Side inspired but more toned down, maybe just some eyes or teeth on a brick-built burger on top of the truck. German name is Burger-Monster-Truck, so the burger being the "monster" seems likely via that name, rather then another Monster-Truck. 31105 Townhouse Toystore 553 parts : Very likely using the 2019 style of building, based on parts count, this might not be a corner but rather a 3 story building (like the 2019 Bank alternate build) , and it's alternate builds might be ground-level shops similar in scale to the dentist/hairdresser, connected via technic pins to add more sets/alternate builds to a street. Based on 2014-2017 (hinged with sidewalks but less depth when opened), and 2017-2018 ("modular" open back, 8x8 & 8x16 scale) LEGO tends to use the same 3-in-1 building style for about 3-4 waves of sets. 2019 started using a mix of both styles, with sidewalks, but floors of buildings could be interchanged still , or turned into a non-corner street, via technic pin connections on a 12x12 base.
  10. My Opinion : Any brand that copies sets from MOCs is just 100% as bad as copying directly from LEGO, even if their quality of parts/electronics is as good compared to LEGO.
  11. A Landmark of the Dam Square (like they did Trafalgar square) could be interesting, now that a LEGO store is opening in Amsterdam especially. Royal Palace of Amsterdam +The National Monument on Dam Square It might be too similar to the Trafalgar set however.
  12. Trailer analysis compared to rumored set names to possible set types. Coral Reef scene ("Water") >? 3 Flowers with Faces ("Flowers" or "Large Flowers") >? Several Cactus can be seen ("Cactus") >? Parts counts of sets aren't too huge however.
  13. NL price : Lamborghini : €60 663 parts = (0.09€ / piece) Jaguar : €40 565 pieces = (0.07€ / piece) Even if under the €0.10 piece ratio, for me that's just too much for just 2 (oversized) vehicles, mainly pointing at the Lamborghini set here. But maybe I'm not the target audience as I mainly would use those along City/Creator 3-in-1 scale sets and 8 wide is just really wide even with the fact that the I-Pace can fit 4 figs. Box art also makes the lights on the cars look a lot better compared to actual reality, I-Pace headlights look a lot lighter especially (which don't seem to even be a transparent part) Selling those as singles at €20-25 at most would be more favored as well.
  14. Those logos on the blue car Boosch / Hanook are even fake ripoffs of real logos from Bosch / Hankook
  15. While getting specific torsos/figures is likely cheaper via secondary market (bricklink mainly), beside sets and polybags there are a few options : LEGO still sells this themselves : 2016 Prison figure blister pack, but it's (very) expensive at €15 retail. Also there are Magazine gifts with single Police Figures (sometimes found on Bricklink) 2019 : 2018 :
  16. Indeed it would be nice to see. Even when recently LEGO put their "halfpipe" type builds in larger City sets (Capital City and Ski Resort) , getting a halfpipe or quarter pipe in a people pack could still work as the main build. Skateboarding is also an official new sport at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skateboarding_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics
  17. I certainly would love to see more of those hat/hair parts show up in City people packs or Creator 3-in-1 sets. Or even that Octan tile again in another set, it's rounded so even could act as a printed barrel top/lid. (2019 had octan barrels in 2 Fire sets, 1 magazine and the other being Dock Side Fire) I just see it being useful as it's an existing printed part in 2 sets now (Modular Garage and now the Hidden Side 2020 set) Octan Barrels been with LEGO for a long time, so using that rounded tile instead of a side sticker could work (even if the font is different, still better then a barrel with no text imo)
  18. It was released in August, but revealed as early as February 2019. February 2019 was an early reveal due to it being a completely new theme, 2020 just seems to fall with the norm (November is a typical time reveals for January sets), and set numbers seem to indicate another "summer" wave of Hidden Side later.
  19. It seems 2020 reveal season started , Chinese New Years, 2 Speed Champions, and now Hidden Side revealed within a week I don't think City and other themes are too far away. January 2019 City had 19 sets. At least sets 60241 - 60258 should be revealed soon (18 sets). June 2019 City had 12 sets. The other sets 60260 - 60271 are likely spring/summer 2020. (10 sets not counting super-packs) Of course there could be more sets (some numbers are missing)
  20. Sets are unique in their own way for sure, but still just isn't my go-to theme right now. Parts, colors and figures certainly look great but for me if I'd get any sets they'd likely be parts packs. Of course I have yet to compare this head to head with 2020 City and Creator 3-in-1, and 1 picture isn't enough to draw a final conclusion. Still, LEGO shows it can make fairly different locations of sets unlikely to be seen much within City/Friends so far. The airplane certainly is the better vehicle set of the wave, those wings actually being studded and still curved at the sides is a nice difference from just plates/tiles. But for me the 2019/2020 road vehicles are oversized but I can see them being great for play, the little details like the gas pump is nice however, would make a nice tiny set by itself for a City Magazine or something.
  21. Also is a good reason to add some small animals into an Xtra pack like some chicken/cat/pig/goat/sheep, a pumpkin, or farm minifig accesoires like a hat/pitchfork, maybe even 1 larger animal horse/cow. Xtra had a Sea themed pack this year, with a Christmas one to follow, and both of those had animals in them, including a larger animal like shark.
  22. 60260 to 60266 likely is a subtheme for 2020 , codename in/out So, that's 7 sets, the amount, seems to match up with previous subthemes. Volcano 2016 : 7 sets Jungle 2017 : 7 sets Arctic 2018 : 8 sets Space 2019 : 7 sets (not counting polybags or the 4-figure blister pack which have no 602xx numbers) Farm would be a very cool one, as it's been some years since we got even something like horses in a minifig set (not including licensed theme like Harry Potter) https://www.stonewars.de/lego-2020/#lego-city-2020 On the other hand we seem to have a set name for 60267 Safari Off-Roader, which could be part of it, that'd be amazing as well. Going by recent years, we did see big cats in various subthemes and colors, but no savannah lions yet. Also Arctic had a Mammoth, so maybe an Elephant is possible. Zebras seem possible if they bring back printed horses, or maybe some modified antler harry potter deer mold for antilopes. Possibly includes a more themed People Pack as they did with 2019 Space 60268 is codenamed "Town 2" maybe one of those €80 sized sets like Donut Shop Opening 60271 is codenamed "Town D2C" likely a €100+ set like 2018 Capital City. 60259 and 60269 seems missing, possibly a "Town People Pack" or Advent Calendar 60270 , 60272 , 60273 , 60274 are named MDP , I think those are usually multi-set valuepacks like this :
  23. I highly doubt that. The german name of the set apparently is : Raubüberfall mit dem Monster-Truck Monster truck Robbery. So maybe more alike to some ATM or Safe being pulled from a small wall section to get to some LEGO cash, as LEGO has done before with bulldozer and tow-truck in 2017 :
  24. For me it would be sets from the more classic themes : Space, Castle, Pirates. A return of something like Galactic Mediator (1992) would be amazing, I just like the style of such build a lot, the studs and angles just make it look a lot more like LEGO then some more modern Spaceships that use rounded parts all over it. Benny's Spaceship from 2014 certainly had a modernized "classic" look to it, but I just missed that set during my non-LEGO time period. (I don't go back and buy sets via secondary market). I never had a Space Police set, but did play a lot with Galaxy Explorer and later and Aquashark set with a bright neon orange cockpit, which I later combined into custom spaceships. Castle would be Royal Knights Castle (1995): I had other sets of this theme which might be partly nostalgia, but overall, outside of the raised baseplate, this just seems like a very complete castle set, even if this has a somewhat open backside, that wasn't unusual for Castle sets at all, some could open up via hinges, others were just open at the back, even modern castles like Nexo Knights have more open back designs for play. As for Pirates, I'd say any of the sets that weren't ships, but with Pirate Bay IDEAS set eventually coming, I'll wait that one out.
  25. Many of the more experienced MOCers will usually make their own custom stickers anyway as they more suit their builds, just look at the dozens of Train MOCs. I like the Xtra sticker pack concept, but for actual sets I'd love if they'd go to 100% (high quality) printed parts.
