  1. The 2009 and 2018 catalogs I have in Dutch and have no prices, neither does the 2nd-2019 one that's online : https://catalogs.lego.com/BrandCatalog/2hy2019/we/nl/#/ However I also see larger versions of catalogs labeled Autumn, or Christmas for the UK that do show pounds : https://www.lego.com/en-de/page/static/catalogues (it's the german page but shows UK versions) NL never had a physical LEGO store yet so might be some explanation.
  2. I can only remember prices being shown in some larger 80s catalogs, and later names weren't shown either (during the 90s and never in smaller sized catalogs) New sets had a yellow brick or star next to the number to indicate if it was a new set for that year, usually with a month of release. I don't have much experience with early 2000s catalogs, but I do have (Dutch) 2009 and 2018 paper catalogs, names+set numbers are shown, but still no prices.
  3. I don't like Flesh toned minifigs Nexo Knights was a good theme Creator 3-in-1 and other open-backed buildings are fine I don't like the concept of CMF series, while figures are great, the whole random/blind bag system is bad, especially for online purchases. LEGO should stop making any exclusive/regional sets+figures LEGO should go back making Seasonal vignettes/minifigure sets instead of Brickheadz.
  4. $102 shipping + add import taxes to that and it will be over $450 for a used set LEGO sells it MISB for €350 if I wanted one new (which I don't, I was merely pointing out the lack of price drop on the Castle set over 3 years)
  5. Nice locomotive for sure, being from NL, I've certainly seen those around in the past. Nowadays, I tend to see more Bombardier TRAXX F140 MS2 locomotives. (NS 186) Bridge certainly deserves it's own thread as it's great use of parts and in red it looks even better.
  6. I think it's similar with those current "Classic" theme boxes, they got a whole rainbow of colors and only a few of each part/type. More part types and colors can act both as a good and bad thing. For something like a rooftop out of slopes, in the old days, while just red and blue were the most uses colors available, they were massable as well, can't say that for the newer colors right now.
  7. I think it's fair for LEGO to be able to do this, we don't know the reason why , but LEGO must have had good reasons (which they say they communicated privately) Tbh if it were me, I'd rather hear something now from LEGO then have false hope for more months.
  8. I don't think Set numbers will ever be an issue, they'll find some space somewhere. Nexo Knights skipped to using the 72001-72006 for it's final wave of 6 sets, while the first 4 waves all used numbers in the 703xx range, meanwhile, many themes have occupied the 704xx range recently, from 2013 castle to 2015 pirates followed by 2019 Hidden Side. 2020 Overwatch moved to the 769xx range, while 2019 uses the 759xx range. So nowhere near Harry Potter or any other theme anymore. (closest is 76138 Batman and The Joker Escape) There's room for hundreds of sets in the 76xxx range still. I used this as a guide for set numbers of currently released sets https://lego.fandom.com/wiki/Category:70000_sets
  9. Ghost Brickhead certainly looks to be a great parts pack.
  10. Lambo's could be very interesting, color wise they likely go at least 1 yellow or orange car if it's a 2 pack.
  11. I'd love a set representing like a big Sailing Race event (like the Volvo Ocean Race, or Americas Cup), while they got camera helicopters for that as well, there tend to be smaller motorboats with camera crew following that as well. Getting a large Race Sailing Yacht would be awesome as set imo. LEGO had a Technic Sailing Yacht set in 2018, but it'd be interesting to see one in brick-built form as well. I think with the current parts available, a brick built yacht could look great as well, a bit larger and better proportions compared to the 2017 Coast Guard Sailboat Rescue set 60168 42074-1: Racing Yacht 60168-1: Sailboat Rescue 60168-
  12. I never used the words "subtheme not happening", I just said there likely won't be any News Van set (in 2020) when they just released one. I also said there could still be news sets like helicopter/drone/building etc. Probably a misunderstanding here.
  13. I know, I'm more realistic however, City sets remain on shelves for at least 1.5 years, and 2019 just has a decent amount of news crews (also in City-Space sets), and that Van in the donut shop isn't bad at all, but I wouldn't get the set just for that. The Camera helicopter of the upcoming Ski Resort set isn't labeled TV or anything but could easily function as such as well. However a different design news vehicle/helicopter/building could still be included somewhere. If they do a flying news vehicle, I hope they'll actually do a News helicopter however and not yet another drone as 2018/2019 has seen loads of across themes. Also, if it's a 6-wide larger helicopter hopefully not using those specialized cockpits again, but brick-built. If they do drones or remote controlled vehicles again for something, I do hope they'll eventually use the new game-controller tile for it (CMF series 19, but could be unprinted as well, still better then a 1x2 with antenna, or walky talky with 2x2)
  14. If the price/exclusivity is anything like the Disney Castle, it won't move down a lot at all (Castle hasn't moved even 10% in 3 years), some stores still even ask €50-€100 more (€400 or more) for the Castle then LEGO itself right now. At least for my area, going by online prices. No remote control is also a bummer for longevity/compatibility, while I can understand the app might add fun sounds and all, noone knows how long those apps will be used, a seperate remote right now is another €25.
  15. Great use of those Nexo Knight tri-shield parts, they make great shapes.
  16. I think many people likely know the Monkey King from video game appearances instead of the origin. League of Legends (Wukong) Dota 2 (Monkey King) Diablo 3 has an item set named Monkey King's Garb (example Sunwuko's Crown for headpiece) Heroes of the Storm has a Monkey King skin for Samuro
  17. They actually just made a TV6+ Van with a dish on top in the 60233 Donut Shop set, so I think the chances of a seperate set seems low :(
  18. Some swing with chains could be nice, the only downside is that it'd might look a bit weird since short legs can't sit down, and medium legs aren't put in City sets right now. A slide and sandbox would work as well, and even more playthings like bouncy horse, seesaw, climbing net/rack, could easily be it's own set at this point.
  19. I always build the main builds first to check for missing parts, because it's more interesting then counting parts inventories. Unless it's something along the lines of a Classic/Building Bigger Thinking/ Christmas Build-up set, then I do count the parts.
  20. Keep the good City Set ideas coming

  21. I think they should be split up better, those mega sets is the focus on so many vehicles, and that's why I often still prefer the way they handle Creator 3-in-1 styled buildings. Purely for buildings/toy shop this is better value in my opinion: 40305-1: LEGO Brand Store €26,99 (362 pieces) (sold at LEGO stores & Shop@Home) Doughnut Shop Opening set is still on my list, just not on top. (just got the 2018 Hospital and 2019 3-in-1 Pet/Cafe/Townhouse sets) Then this year still has another "mega-set" with the upcoming ski resort as well.
  22. Sadly regional exclusive sets/figures still exist (both ways), of course things for sets improved a bit with the recent Chinese New Year dragon boat set at least. I know the magazines aren't sold in US for example, but are in UK, NL, Germany, Poland (maybe more?) --- Back to City ideas : - Park set with actual decent area sized plates, and not just loose elements, brick-built trees, maybe 1-2 vendor stalls, entrance gate, pond with ducks (new duckling mould possibly painted in Mallard duck colors?). - City Square , some monument/statue, tiled squares, pigeons , maybe some musicians or another vendor stall (postcards/hats/souvenirs) - Post Office - Supermarket or collection of various smaller shops (Bakery(bread) / Cheese Shop / Fruit + Vegetables / Fish / Pharmacy) - Fishing Harbour / Commercial Fishing Vessel / Seagulls - Petting Zoo
  23. For my current built LEGO, I have an extension for vacuum cleaner that leads to a smaller garden hose type extension I can put small pipes with a brush on (1 cm round, and 2cm oval), and the brush is fine enough not to scratch the LEGO and it removes the dust between studs just fine. I know other people use compressed air to blow the dust away but that just moves the dust eventually to return, while a vacuum cleaner actually removes it from the room. That said, my main sets on display are in a display cabinet with glass windowed doors. If it was second hand LEGO I'd wash it in warm soapy water first, if it's not too hot, warm water is fine. I also had the case where warm water actually can aid in fixing newer warped plates back to normal.
  24. If it's anything like the Disney Castle, a price drop seems very unlikely, at least for online retailers around here, Disney Castle is out for 3 years, cheapest being LEGO themselves. €350. Other websites last known prices are €400 and €450
  25. Yeah, it does look really weird compared to the render. It's almost as if the render really made the colors bright but didn't show much metallic paint except striped highlights, and a very dark greyish fill-in on the helm/torso/bottom leg areas, but the actual printing used some much brighter metallic print which really killed the colors, leading to a very different design, due to the reflections it causes.
