  1. This is incredible. For a small classic style build I could be tricked into believing this was official. Pros: I love the style of the dock; and how it’s perfect for the small row boats. perfect part selection. minifigure choice is perfect. cons: I would have made the blue dock support part a little bigger, lego when using blue water parts always over estimated the size requirements. Only more recent sets used smaller plates for support. All up, great classic set!
  2. Just a small 50 part mini recreation of the Imperial Guard Camp. I made a few executive changes; such as the section of rock now has a little more decoration being an old islander head. And the soldiers are made using the nutcracker bodies and legs to try match an imperial guard attire. Hope you all enjoy!
  3. Couldn’t agree more. Do I prefer seeing a physical build, yes, but this is brilliant, also allowing digital evens the playing field for people without the income to spend hundreds on bricklink orders or to use bricks in colours that currently might not exist.
  4. This is incredible! I love it it, looks modern, feels in line with the new set designs and has everything I’d want in a remake! so as per my usual reviews; pros: The rock work looks amazing. the door build looks fantastic, multi texture and using the clip to look like a handle is genius. the emblem on the front of the building looks brilliant too. cons: silly complaint but personally I would have preferred the dock to be black like Eldorado but that’s just opinion. id love a full sized cannon in the rounded base section. i know it’s thematic for the build but I hate the large sword on top with the flag and it’s my only genuine complaint. all up, this is a FANTASTIC build. I love so much of this and the build is very detailed and complex but in the best possible way, and not just for complexity sake.
  5. Ideally a full trading ship would be great. Some plain white sails or trade insignias. Maybe some raiding pirates on a raft or small boat too.
  6. Aww man we nearly agree on everything! Contrary to common opinion I actually hated imperial flagship remake, it felt flimsy, empty and quite boring, where as the build for pobb felt clever and sturdy, with a better overall shape. The lack of innovation in the flagship was probably the number one reason as you stated. I really feel that the armada suffered from a bad release date after great earlier pirates sets. Lego we’re producing god awful sets in the late 90s but the idea was solid and I loved a few of the smaller sets.
  7. Alright folks, last update I promise. I had to add another layer to the rock wall to get it to marry up properly with Eldorado, I must have miscounted the height! so here is the finished version; and finally, how it sits between a few different modules of Eldorado fortress; Thank you everyone for reading and the feedback!
  8. I think enchanted island is far, far more likely
  9. This is super super cool! I’ll do a proper review on it later but just wanted to give some early insight!
  10. Skulls eye would probably be the better choice of classics. A remake of the armada flagship in full Spanish glory would be my personal choice but I simply cannot see them doing it.
  11. I imagine that POBB get 2 releases and still selling out might have made them consider otherwise.
  12. 100% loved some of the sets, but I don’t think they were successful because of the focus on gimmick
  13. Yep. These themes will perform average to badly and rely on tech addicted smartphone kids. They were smart making mine craft sets because that is a game set around construction so they could poach fans from both the game and of construction toys. I remember the fantastic lego adverts of the past that inspired play and showcased the fantastic range of the product in fantastic stop motion, maybe that is just nostalgia though. Ultimately what lego currently need to learn after the success of branching out into licensed themes, is that they can please most of the people, most of the time, but trying to please all of the people, all of the time isn’t a real outcome.
  14. Having watched the old modular creator interviews I think your 100% right about having to make do with current parts in current palletes.
  15. I’m of the mindset that if they advertised and made the effort they used to with any classic themed sets, they would sell. Making entire ranges around zero attention span tiktok addicts is only going to end badly for the company when they realise that marketing to those people who have zero interest in construction toys doesn’t work out.
  16. Whoa that’s really cool! Good work!
  17. Certainly! It’s a 2x2 round plate with centre stud in light bluish grey, on top of that; is a 1x2 jumper plate in dark bluish grey, on top of that, I used a 1x1 round plate with centre hole in light bluish grey (these seem to have a tighter fit and im not sure why!) then the neck fur, with the egg on top! hope that helps!
  18. This would be incredible. I was hoping for trading post instead of Eldorado, but with the inclusion of the boat and the long set arrangement I’m afraid lego know they won’t be remaking it.
  19. I meant larger sets generally have huge sticker sheets, all the massive ninja go sets, stranger things etc. The price point per part is still higher for small to medium range kits is all I meant, meaning that larger kits pose a bigger risk if they don’t meet sale’s expectations.
  20. Well the target audience that makes the majority of the companies income probably wouldn’t come from larger sets due to price per piece ratio. That and the majority of the larger sets coming with 4 pages of sticker sheets while $10 friends set come with full printed pieces has implications too. Getting away from the discussion here though. Larger sets underperforming would be a huge blow to the company producing any more sets in that theme, especially from a business stand point. I’d prefer lego bite the bullet and produce new things rather than nostalgia bait remakes ever 5 years.
  21. I see this argument all the time, but then people complain about bigger sets costing so much. The controversy over the price pointing of lion knights castle and sales figures actually harms classic themes. Id be lying if I said I didn’t buy POBB purely for the boat build, however I think it looks great in both builds, as the bay and as the boat. The ideas set deserves kudos for inspiring what came but a boring brown blob with zero fun factor isn’t even close to the final product.
  22. More than welcome, I absolutely love the detailing on the back side, seems really accurate to real life and a good lego design.
  23. I think the bridge looks incredible, personally I will be voting for this build, especially in hopes of a rebrickable file.
  24. Lego have used 1x1 round bricks as “cannons” and smaller guns in a few builds.
