  1. I like the look of Stormtroopers! But the prints on the Shocktroopers just had me from the start. Wish I could get hundreds upon hundreds of these guys.
  2. I recently tried out MEGA and their brand and actually ended up liking it as much as LEGO (don't bring the pitchforks) but for different reasons. I got a bunch of Destiny and CoD sets and have been blown away both by the complexity of the builds and the overall quality of their products. They do have issues such as too much flash remaining on some pieces and outright faulty pieces, but they gladly replace these, no questions asked. In some ways I wish LEGO had some of the pieces they employ, such as studded slopes and marbling for sets that really do benefit from the aesthetic that brings. Their micro action figures are fun to pose also but I just like looking at the vehicles on display. They look like proper display models and are eye catching. That they take hours of labor to construct probably also helps up the display factor for them.
  3. Totally biased as it was my fav SW build last year but this effort really nails it! Great job!
  4. I'd say it is a normal process. I had not touched a LEGO brick in over 20 years before I came back to it. Initially I was buying a ton of sets with every little penny I could save up in discretionary cash and before long I had out-paced my means to store or display these things. Now my sets are more infrequent and smaller in size. I would not call it a dark age since I still love LEGO but compared to my revival period it surely has taken a hit recently. Like others have stated it is just the phases of life coming at you. There will be times when you are halted in your activity with LEGO but then there are times when the sun and stars align just right and you have the cash and the time to plow through some great LEGO hauls! I'd say just live life =) The ABS will not degrade during your lifetime and your LEGO will be happy to get you back when you have the time =)
  5. This is hard since I grew up with classic castle but I would like a series based around the time castles were fading out. I would love a star shaped fortress and troopers that bear a resemblance to say something like a Spanish Tercio with pikemen and musketeers working together =) With the new pieces from Nexo Knights that sort of thing would be fun to see, at least for me.
  6. Brickset recently posted an article about one clone company in China paying the MOCers for their efforts. I feel this outcome is dangerous for MOCers and in general an awful shift in the market. Imagine some MOCer getting the hammer thrown on them for giving the build instructions for a Star Wars set and Disney suing them since they are easier to catch. Meanwhile the clone company gets to make money off the now criminally charged MOCer with no worries on their end. Now imagine the community becoming hermitical for fear their ideas will be stolen or worse they'll be put in this position of being essentially held to ransom with all the legal risks that come with that while the cloners stay safely out of reach behind the legal system of another country.
  7. I have 143 sets, mostly small sets. The few medium sets I have, however, take up more real estate than I actually have for display. As a result despite my lofty wishes and occasional proclamations I have curtailed my LEGO purchases this year a ton>< (not happy about that but drat...) In fact going forward it may drop down enough to be a dark age >< Such is the state of my display space >< So I guess the answer to your question is that "big" depends on how much you can actually store/display. If say you have enough display space for 700 sets but only have 200 your collection is SMALL. if you have space to display/store 10 sets but cram 20 sets into that area your collection is BIG! Or that is how I would say it to you if I saw it =)
  8. Finally got my first set for 2017 and I am not sure how I feel about this year. Last year I was pleasantly surprised by this theme. The colors were fun and the Lava Monsters looked like Red Orcs which I found super useful in setting up my own Knights display with a more mature tone and back story. But the new line seems a bit colder in presentation. The colors are subdued and the power of the enemies looks and feels weaker and overall I am not sure I am excited for this year's line. The knights too seem like they got a downgrade in my eyes. The less bulky armor pieces make them seem less powerful. Also the sets don't feel nearly as cool as the first year's. In many cases they feel like rehashes. I loved the Ultimate Knights from last year the colors and prints were great and they look so good together, it was all bright and full of life and gave off a more adventurous tone. But maybe I am just getting old though. My kids loved the set I got (Ruina's Lock and Roller) they had so much fun pulling it about the floor.
  9. In the actual mythical tales of Thor he can actually be interpreted to be pretty dense. His main rival is Jormungandr, the world serpent. Which is odd since it holds the world up in a sense and destroying it destroys the world >.> Some of his adventures (probably altered to mock paganism in general as christian authors translated his tales) make Thor the butt of the joke in the situations depicted. In other contexts related to his persona he is very important to many aspects of masculinity and even the home. So really he is open to reinvention and there is a context to presenting him as either a genius, a generous and strong character, or outright fool.
  10. General Organa, may she lead the resistance to victory in EP VIII!
  11. Who will think of the whales now? ( ; . ; ) I kid but yeah, time to wrap this up me thinks. I have enjoyed the series despite the lightness of a lot of it and the meandering of the other half of it. Still they introduced a decent set of characters and left enough open to imagine further for yourself. My only hope is that next time (even though it is supposed to be a kid's franchise) that they step up the narrative with a much more serious tone. We already have plenty of introductory/indoctrinating material available for future generations of yet-to-be-SW-fans. I would totally welcome a series on the Knights of Ren or an adaptation of what the next Battlefront game seems to be bringing to the table; the rise of the First Order in the Unknown Regions.
  12. I was alerted to this practice by watching ChewieBricks channel on Youtube. I was aghast since it was not made clear if the creator had received any sort of compensation for their work. Sadly, I can also see a lot of people spending money on these sets. A lot of MOCs are fantastic and lepin prices are ... lepin prices ><
  13. Gotta show the resistance some love here. Love those helmets. Resistance Trooper go go! >.>
  14. That Rodian for sure. Love the prints on his face and the fact that the pack makes it so you can dress him any which way you please.
  15. Combat Driver. Dude looks like an officer but one who can actually get in the front lines with his men.
  16. Bought the set for the figures also. Never even built the "castle" immediately used the parts for my LEGO City instead since it came with so many brick textured pieces.
  17. Oo How did you spot that? Specially the FO one? Man I can easily be swindled I thinks.
  18. Yah the regular blue police from 2014 and 2015 looked really cool to me. Almost like a swat team. If you look at the Chase McCain set from around that time they also had wonderful leg printing on some of them.
  19. You can always mix and match them. I liked the Swamp Police line a lot but the campaign hats were wearing thin for me. They looked like park service staff with those on so I changed them slightly. P3142659 by Macster Tome, on Flickr Now about a dozen of these patrol my streets.

  21. I don't think there would be a need to revise pricing just yet on LEGO's part. Once the UK is officially divorced from the rest of the EU and new treaties and laws take effect for trade then perhaps you may see a significant shift in pricing.
  22. I my region they have cost 20$ USD for years now, I only hope they don't jack the price where I am. I wish the price would drop to15$ because that sounds dreamy to me tbh.
  23. Quite a few sites are out there. Flickr is probably the most used. But we have Instagram, Blogger too can let you post in batches once you upload what you want. But it stays in a blog format. Though this can be helpful if you want to arrange things as an album.
