Got 75184 which I will be opening with my kids day by day starting on 12/1. They love those calendars and I like building with the kids. Fun for everyone!

These two episodes were OK, I feel the season should have started with this arch instead of the Mandalorians. It feels like it is actually building up to something. Can't wait for more.

I liked the 6th installment so far in the series (can't believe we are there already). Can't wait to see what the next ones will bring. I hope they stay true to their word regarding Lothal.

Ok so EP 3 and 4 are bringing it back around to connect to Rogue One, which is cool. It is a step up from the first two episodes, but not by much. They actually managed to make episodes with Saw feel like filler (; . ;)

That looks really sleek. I love the cabin section it almost looks like a living being. How many parts are holding the wings at that angle? Do you think they may warp after while? Regardless, it looks fantastic, you should try to post how you did it. I am sure some folks will like to homage this build.

No I agree completely and I am a Rebels fan. These first two episodes this season were weak! I really hope it is not a sign of things to come. Specially since these first two really encapsulate a lot of the gripes people have had with this series all along. 1. Predictable plot. 2. Clumsily executed Rebel plan, that always works. 3. No consequences for anyone, really. 4. Flat characterization and left-field plot movement. Here is hoping it improves quickly.

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
Japanbuilder replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The part of the trailer where the entire hangar is shown has a few chicken walkers all the way to the right. They look like a mix of AT-STs and AT-DPs since they appear to have bubble turrets to the side, but it is hard to tell as they are grainy once you zoom in on them. Screen Shot 2017-10-16 at 11.51.49 by Macster Tome, on Flickr We also see smaller AT-ATs, and a bunch of other tech about this hangar. I hope we get a lot of screen time for these machines as well as more snow troopers! -
Is LEGO entering a Dark Age - or am I?
Japanbuilder replied to Hive's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For me it was a different effect. But I have seen its like discussed on these forums elsewhere. I came back in 2015 after losing touch with LEGO in my teens. Never gave them a second thought. But coming back everything was so great. The prints were cooler and there was more of them, the builds were more complex, etc., etc. Now 2 years on, my spending on LEGO has died down a lot. I look at what I have amassed in 2 years time and it feels like it is enough for what I am in to. Tons if city, tons of Star Wars. Even got in on house brands like NEXO Knights. But I think I am noticing not only pricing becoming less attractive for these toys but a lot of "sameness,"that coupled with pricing has made it easier to just pass up on a ton of sets. When I do splurge anymore I try to get those big creator buckets. My fervor has died down for sure but I don't think I would enter a dark age as I still think of LEGO often and do keep a wish list for a few sets here and there plus still make purchases albeit rather infrequently now. -
Hmm, the trailer was cool but upon reflection it was somewhat concerning. Mostly about Luke anyways. It implies to a degree Luke will not fully train Rey. The way that bit was presented also implies Rey needs no training (and why would she? She beat Kylo with no prior training) The way the last scene of the trailer was cut points at what you say, and we do see Kylo hesitate to kill his mother (at least in the way the cut was put together for us to see here) Could they both be turning to the light? But previous to that we see Snoke has a hold of Rey (unless it is another of her visions) so that Kylo sequence could itself be another vision scene instead of an actual event. But the whole tone just pushes a bit what Rebels has been pushing for a while now. The whole Force kinda going to the middle to the grey. Neither light or dark but a bit of both. Also anyone else get the vibe they might off Luke in this one?

I think Disney made a HUGE mistake announcing their plans for Star Wars. Particularly their annualized plan. In my recent visit to the states I noted that I could find Star Wars stuff even in discount stores. For this brand that is really rare for me. Most telling, after 2 years of merchandizing I was shocked to see the Toys R Us stores literally stocked wall to wall with Star Wars. And all of it was at a discount, black series were 2 for the price of 1. Vehicles and other things were on clearance, and rows and rows of protagonists figures for TFA warming the pegs. Disney is glutting the market with Star Wars and the quality of this mass-production is really going to hurt the brand. To a large extent it probably already has if that much merchandise from TFA is still warming pegs all this time later. Their needless diversity push and the shallow representation of these on film is also I think, starting to rub everyone the wrong way. This and the ubiquity of the brand will mean Star Wars will have run its course for Disney faster than they hope. When Star Wars was rare this stuff couldn't stay on shelves, now that everyone knows a new selection is going to be there every year, what's the point? Collectors specially are going to get burned. Nothing they have collected, in particular for the new trilogy, is going to be that rare or special going forward.

But this has always happened with Star Wars side material. Legends was no better at keeping anything straight with the films and would often have material contradict other material. It is a huge shame that Disney did not stick to avoid these conundrums but it is also hard to make stand alone stories that have the protagonists lose all the way to the end >.>

It is not just bootlegs, we should also look at similar competitors on the market and the nasty habit of kids to grow older faster than you would like. The first LEGO movie that skyrocketed interest in LEGO is on the wane now as a thing and those kids aren't as kiddy anymore. When looking at the overall range of product, you really start to feel the void if you are in your early to mid-teens of LEGO stuff that appeals to what you are into. Plus with other competitors making brick models to video games and other cooler things that LEGO glow can be easily replaced by something else altogether. Secondly, the actions taken here by LEGO signal their projections for the coming quarters are looking to angle downwards not upwards. Payroll is a constant cost and sadly, trimmings to off-set bad projections must hit payroll somewhere along that line. Very sad to see this happen but as a consumer of all range of sets(size-wise) I can testify that my interests converge on a very narrow range of themes with literally entire lines in both home-grown and licensed themes going ignored by my wallet and tastes. I imagine this will make them reevaluate how much puff they had been shoveling out and make them focus on making sets their own kids would love to play with for hours and hours on end with instead of these complex display pieces that teach kids nothing about using their imagination.

I keep hoping that if ever they make an in-between series for EPVI and VII that Thrawn features heavily in the formation of the First Order.

SW: TLJ set reviews taken down from YouTube
Japanbuilder replied to Arigomi's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I too highly doubt it is LEGO. Someone just saw that Jang's videos got considerable traffic on sets that I guess are not supposed to be in shelves until Friday. So boom, they figured they would go for the low lying fruit as it were. But that is not Jang's fault. He paid money for product at retail. The items in question were not marked as date restricted in any way it seems and the transaction was legit. And that is the biggest thing to me that rubs me all wrong. Treating paying costumers for buying the things corporations want them to buy like criminals after they pay. For real? So you take their cash and while you are at it kick them some? Pretty much what DRM is all about but this time it is a with a physical item that has a fair number of online reviews up already. -
I think they feel that they've caught all the fish they are going to catch from Rebels. All of it was the fault of their execution I feel and the direction of the series on the whole. Still, I enjoyed it and am sad to see it go.
-
Perhaps the huge blowout will be during Force Friday this week. It is the 40th after all and they may want to not oversaturate the brand. Though I have noticed and felt less hype for this new entry than the previous one also. All that may change after this Friday though. I think they also want to be a bit more cautious since TFA seemed to drop off like a rock after people had time to digest is contents.

When does a theme become a classic?
Japanbuilder replied to Aanchir's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Easy, when the next generation takes the reins and calls the stuff they grew up with as "Classic." It would make the stuff called "Classic" now something else, perhaps the "Old Classics" or even the "Golden Classics". Everything previous to that would be the "Proto-age" or something like that hah hah. But the plus side is every generation will get its "Classics." I try to just call them my old LEGO. Since they only mean something to me and no one else. For marketing I am sure LEGO will define it in some way. But operationally I think they just say "product" from x date to x date. -
Got 75175 x1. I like it, it even compares well with last year's A-Wing. Plus the moveable engine pods were removed. These ones won't move on you too much. IMG_6367 by Macster Tome, on Flickr IMG_6362 by Macster Tome, on Flickr IMG_6359 by Macster Tome, on Flickr

[MOD] 75102 X-wing S-foil, rubber band, and landing gear fix

I believe Photobucket recently changed their policy on hosting. Actually it came out of nowhere and there is some bad blood for them now with many companies. Perhaps moving these to Flickr would do justice to this great MOD. -
