  1. Thanks I set some of these to public =) Hopefully the bigger resolution makes a difference. I tried a few more at iso 200 to see if that changed anything. The previous ones were iso 80. P2222687 by Macster Tome, on Flickr P2222729 by Macster Tome, on Flickr
  2. It is really hard to answer this, since the resulting answers are going to be very subjective. But as a species humans tell stories. Each age has a a medium to deliver stories too, from simple oral stories to what we have today which is everything from oral narration to books, to film and audio. Now today just like always, there are some stories that appeal to some folks but not to other folks. I think one big difference though between antiquity and today is the rise in leisure-time. So ultimately most of what constitutes media consumption today is designed to fill that type of time. This is going to make a lot of the content delivered by said media very shallow, very un-serious and like leisure itself a luxury in wasting time. So I can take an applicative approach, since it is meant to amuse me anyway, I may as well expand on what I am consuming by applying to it a meaning based on personal circumstance. This allows me to extract perhaps a philosophical meaning from one genre (say how Stormtroopers have white armor but the inner armor is all black, thus symbolizing possibly their true heart) Or say from Super Hero movies I can apply a psychological interpretation, in that the heroes represent a mental need or wish for answers to huge problems to be simple. Or my usual approach. Let whatever I am watching waste my time for me since I was probably going to waste it anyway on some other equally shallow endeavor. It is like the cherry blossoms and plum blossoms here in Japan every spring, they are just there so I will enjoy them while they are there. Plato would be mad at me I am sure.
  3. Yes, I figured as much =) I am working on using a cheap picture frame to hold the material up between my subjects and the light. *edit* Made adjustments to my lightbox, added cooking paper to cover the holes I had on it and affixed my lone light top center. These are some of my results so far. I had a few others but I was in a awkward area and my camera captured shaking but it has been noted for next time (get your camera into a stable platform when on a tripod). The focus seems softer somehow, but maybe my eye was getting used to sharp contrast of my earlier shots. P2222658 by Macster Tome, on Flickr P2222655 by Macster Tome, on Flickr
  4. Yes, I think my first experiment will be with kitchen paper, mostly because I worry about heat. If that does not work as I expect I may just try traditional lantern paper and see if that produces a good even light throughout. The only downside to that is, it is not as heat resistant.
  5. I am still taken aback by the speed with which those were retired. Particularly the set with Ahsoka. Is retirement slated for end of February or End of March? I am still tempted to get that frigate since every detail so far points to Rebels sets getting the short shrift time-wise with few rereleases of figures possible.
  6. None so far. I had not considered it when making this set up but I will look into it now =) Yes, single light at the moment. I was experimenting. I had not considered the diffuser before it was mentioned but I will look into it. The lighting struck me as too strong too so I tried to angle the light in various ways across all these shots. Now that you mentioned a second one helps I will totally get one. The set up I have is very very small and rough. The box is a plain old cardboard with some blue matte like paper as backing. The Light is a 5 LED desk lamp but the bulbs just point right at stuff and it is hard to angle it correctly but yes the diffuser will help as soon as I can get around to making one I shall post again =) Thanks for the tips guys! Thank you for the suggestion I have marked the vendor page in case the home made options I am attempting don't work well enough for presentable shots in the long run.
  7. Yes, that FO Speeder looks great. I like all the figures included and for sure I will be buying multiples of it. Plus that shield piece is amazing! I am wondering about the Bounty Hunter Pack though. The shot we got seems sparsely detailed, specially the 4-L0M shot. Maybe I am just blind but is it a place holder image? Cause he has no print on his torso it seems to me. For IG88 I totally get it that but for 4-L0M? As for Sabine, yeah. I feel this deeply since I am gonna splurge on Rebels sets I missed this year and her mando helmet is missed. But I have been thinking about why it is not produced too. Sabine changes it for every season it seems and moulding a new one for each season might be troublesome for LEGO? Plus with the sets apparently not selling all that well that may add to the expense and effort to making them not being worth it.
  8. Love it! So many questions too! -Could we get a shot of the underside of the nose assembly? I am curious to see what you did after removing the spring loaded shooters. -How did you make your sticker sheet to specification? -With the housing for the rubber-bands removed, did you do anything new/different to the landing gear? I find that on the original model one can easily pull the entire leg off despite the round plate piece securing it to the main body. And finally just a comment, I love your choice of white for her livery. In the episode where she is attacked by the protectors it looked way washed out but it was definitely the brightest of the A-Wings in that fight so good choice of color here. Great stuff, make more please!
  9. Testing out a new light box set up and a new spot light. So far it is OK but I need to reformat the backing on the light box. 10. Just saw the Brickshow posts from Toyfair and I am really excited for the small to midsize sets for Star Wars. The Advent Calendar also looks really good. Brickset also has a shot of the bounty hunter set and it looks great as well, almost too good the true! Cant wait for it. The only other thing I took note of was the stud shooters on that Rathtar set. >< Granted it doesn't seem to be for all the figures but still I hope they include both mould types going forward rather than just the stud launchers.
  11. Oh this pain I know all too well. Loved the TIE Adv. Vs. A-Wing so paid more than retail for it. Now I have 2 sets I want this year that are gonna cost me so much but I really want em. Oh the life on an AFOL in my region.
  12. Not being box collector (and I send the boxes for recycling anyway) I am mostly interested in the contents of the box. I am mostly saddened we won't see anything until the day of release. But much like the wave 1 for TFA I will probably not get anything related to it until the following spring when the fervor is considerably lessened (and the prices come back down to normal in my region)
  13. I too have been critical of the show but I can't hide that I am a fan. In fact, after hearing the sets aren't doing so well I am gonna ramp up some Rebels purchases I missed out on so much since I only got back into LEGO just a bit over a year ago. In the meantime I eagerly await the rest of the season and hope it ends as well as season 2 did. Every bit adds to the lore that is the Star Wars tapestry.
  14. That minifig of Snapp is awesome. If you get the full size fighter you will have a good figure ready to go (~.^)v
  15. I agree with many of the sentiments expressed here regarding Rebels sets. Many are strange or not compelling enough. Though fundamentally the problem lies with the popularity of the show. If it is getting less viewers than CW then the result if fewer sales of those sets since most collectors don't care for or about or even know that much regarding Rebels. Though the good sets they release (pricing aside) have bolstered my fleet of ships. I will totally be getting Rogue One star fighters to add to that fleet. Just as soon as I can budget the cash. Also since I am troop builder kinda guy I would like the Rebels bp imperial transport but bigger MUCH bigger. I don't like the Rebels stormies that much but I can just pretend that is the helmet raw recruits get. While veteran and specialized troopers carry the more movie styled helmets and gear. Still a huge transport would go well with my growing army of stormies and would fit my display theme better than TIE fighters do. I suppose an updated version of set 7659 is really the set I am asking for. As seen here.
  16. I hope that in a few years time dual moulding will be an extreme commonplace thing for Lego, along with printing on the side of the legs. A Han Solo with the new hair piece and dual molded legs with the red trim going down the side of his legs would be most welcome. I also hope that starts to become a thing for the blaster moulds and lightsaber hilts also I would love some more variety in those. I am still holding out hope that we will get a Zeb figure in the near future as I really badly need one. Plus some SW Battlefront races in a battle pack of some kind. I want a female Zabrak and another Twilek in my collection plus a Quarren would be cool too. I wonder if the upcoming Bounty Hunter pack isn't to test the waters? Maybe if it sells well (even though I think most folks would not buy more than one of it) maybe later they will do packs for specific groups, a Jabba pack with Fortuna and guards, a 501st pack with an officer, an Imperial officer pack with that guy that was getting force choked in EPIV. Guess I am dreaming into the wild zone today.
  17. Whatever iTunes is throwing at me, as I write this Oasis, Don't Go Away Generally I am behind on the music world. Just 2 days ago I was introduced to Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 hah hah. I need like a current music feed or something. Totally clueless.
  18. Did not set the bar high for this wave but it surely is better than rumors suggested. The jungle stuff isn't half bad if only for the animals and the nice color scheme. The rest of city sets look great too. Loving that bus and the coast guard theme is also looking nice. Another people pack is nice will come in handy plus he creator houses look set to bolster a few cities around here.
  19. According to the streaming photos already up, no. Looks like we will have to wait a bit longer for those. Screen Shot 2017-02-01 at 13.21.09 by Macster Tome, on Flickr
  20. Yes, they are not everyone's cup of tea but for guys like me who love setting troops up in the deployment phase these things are must. And thanks on the tip I hope I have another month or so before that speeder retires I would like a Kanan before he got blinded in my collection.
  21. When is it slated to retire(Kanan's Speeder)? It has been out a year already right in most regions? Glad I got the Resistance and FO Transporters before they ceased production. Those sets are great and the Resistance Transport I shall praise till the end of my days that is a fun ship to make and it looks great too.
  22. I share these sentiments. Basically the value of the game was gated from the start. I preordered a copy of SW Battlefront and as time went on I realized they wanted me to fork over well over 100 bucks for the rest of the game. And in Japan we don't get a choice of which packs to get it is all or nothing. That was the worst impression a company has ever given me about a product and I doubt I will buy the next installment or any other EA game going forward. Still trying to recover normal taste from the bad taste this one left behind.
  23. Finally saw Deadpool. I enjoyed a lot more than I probably should have. Which surprised me. But it was just darkly hilarious.
  24. Super jelly about the price you were able to snag it at. But the set is a great set. Plus that Phasma is cool to have.
  25. I am not sure I follow exactly what you mean by "new," nothing this console is doing is "new." If we talk about an online Nintendo Store, Netflix or other such services again none of those are "new" each console has version of that going on for it now as well as most tablets and smartphones. Docking portable devices to play on larger screens and taking them off a dock for use on the go is a technology that has been around since the late 90s. In addition the specs on this device tell you the capabilities of the console. Most tablets and phones out today do tons more than this thing based on that alone. Wireless controls have also been around for a long time now (decades in fact) starting with the simple RC for TVs. Gating online content also not new. The internal memory spec tells you the games are going to have small save data files or the games are themselves small in size which also tells you a bit about what to expect. As I said, I hope it goes well for them, just personally I will hold out for something after the vanilla version.
