  1. Thanks for pointing that out. The guy that runs the website is a good guy who definitely wouldn't be trying to deceive. He'll probably be a little embarrassed when he finds out it's not genuine. I thought it was a new ploy by Lego to make prelim pics almost nothing like the finished product.
  2. http://brickingaround.com/2015/01/12/leaked-picture-of-71016-kwik-e-mart/ I assume this is a very preliminary pic. The price is NZ dollars and will apparently be $330 AU.
  3. I had no interest in the divers line, until I saw that pic. It looks like a detailed realistic version of a research vessel, and that is something I must have. And maybe a submarine to go with it. Does anyone else think that there's a slim chance that the new space sets might have a classic space influence? The lack of conflict in classic space mean it's not really suited to modern space themes but could be a good fit for the 'city explore' line. I'm not getting my hopes up though, it'll probably deliver a white space shuttle and a space port with a giant <insert that tiresome argument> rocket or two along with a couple open vehicles.
  4. Yeah pdf file. Important bits are a May release. Also, although it wasn't explicit, there was talk of the franchise as a whole and to me that implied that there might be sets from earlier movies.
  5. The prelim images for the QAR had completely different sails to the ones that were in the final product. My purchase of the 2015 ship is contingent on the sails being significantly different from those used for Brickbeard's Bounty. It might be a different story if the actual ship design was inspiring but I don't need to display two very similar looking ships together.
  6. I suggest you create a survey on surveymonkey and ask about it to get some real data. For me it's a relaxing and therapeutic hobby. To relax I definitely need sets with instructions as I put my creativity into other facets of my life. For others it's probably MOCing that helps them relax.
  7. Just Star Wars and City I believe. Although one or two other sets pop up online as discounted but it's not across the board.
  8. I'd use the tile like above or even a 1x2, attach it to a minifig neck bracket. Then attach one of those new 1x1 round plates with a hole in them (to the hole in the bracket) and insert a black bar of the appropriate length. Front on it'll look ok but ugly from behind.
  9. On another forum there have been lengthy discussions about a whole shipment of orders going missing temporarily, apparently it's found now and people should be getting their orders soon.
  10. I think you're probably right. My local Target isn't putting the two big star wars sets out until after close tonight, well that's what they told me.
  11. And just to really confirm it for those still sceptical, on another forum the discount brochure has been posted and Lego is specifically excluded. So no new themes available as far as I've seen and the standard 20% off means I'm spending the least I've spent in years at the Myer sale.
  12. I think it's a tie between how great this set is and how great the review was. Many thanks!
  13. And just for anyone coming across this topic in Australia, it's $15.
  14. I actually prefer the brick built reindeer to getting a new mould, but for some strange reason I'm glad they didn't brick build the cows in other sets. I just hope the eyes are a printed piece. I think this also works with the family building aspect Lego is going for with these sets. A young child could easily build the reindeer by themselves while the adults/bigger kids work on the more complicated parts of the set. This set also satisfies my desire for the newer style Santa I don't have yet.
  15. Many thanks for all your efforts with these MBA reviews. They're greatly appreciated. Being in Australia these are very hard to get, so any further insights are great to help determine whether it's worth spending the big $s to import one.
  16. For me the one I'd love to see is Mr Plow and his truck. Lego love vehicles and apart from the school bus there aren't a lot of interesting options.
  17. are you displaying New Mannum at Bricktopia?
  18. It's all a big cost saving measure. It's going to be a reissue of Brickbeard's Bounty and they're going to use the leftover boxes from its production run and just stick some black tape over the "beard's" part of the name. There were so many better names to choose from. I can't believe they went for something so uninspired.
  19. Excellent. I look forward to seeing it on the Sunday.
  20. There was a Fabuland mouse in 1979. Thanks for the review, now with that decent distribution of figs I have to decide between a whole box or a full set plus some doubles I'll want to give as gifts.
  21. The head on mine goes on fine. You can't use either the legs or torsos with minifigs. The heads are very loose on a minifig torso ie would fall off as soon as lifted and tilted. The hair on these figs is part of the head so can't be removed. Even at the $2 price, one is more than enough for me. However as a kid I'm sure I would have been more enthusiastic about them. Oh they can be displayed on collectible minifig plates. Seemed like they were designed to be Lego width at the feet.
  22. I ordered from Amazon directly. There's a big thread on brickset about many many people getting their sets shipped in plastic bags and then the 1st and 2nd replacements being shipped in plastic bags too. Then they stopped selling it with a note about how customers have let them know about a possible shipping issue with the item, so hopefully this means they will send yours in a box. Let us know how you go. No problem re the advice . Edit: They briefly had a sale (now unheard of for the big former shop at home only sets) and I think it was about $30 US less than RRP with same shipping cost as you.
  23. They (well the heads) look even worse in person. I grabbed one as an impulse at the checkout and was stunned by the ugliness even though I had fair warning from the pics above. The best positive I can come up with is that they didn't seem to smell weird like some clone brands and the packaging was easy to open, which I imagine will become a problem once people start to search for their favourites.
  24. I hear there's a good chance it will be at myer for midyear sale, so if you can wait, that'd be your best bet.You could get one from amazon.com for a bit over $300 but they were shipping in a plastic bag only. I got one on sale a few weeks back and it was totally wrecked and the return process was a major hassle. Your other option is double vip points from april1 to 15, assuming that's a worldwide promo.
