  1. Aw man that’s so shit that it can’t go horizontal it looks so ugly
  2. These pics really make me wish Lego would give designers free reins with specialised parts, especially for smaller sets. Some great looking builds can come from using them. It’s so tiring getting almost nothing but liftarms and panels.
  3. Oh my god the prototype excavator builds are so amazing. Why Lego whyyyy
  4. Perhaps the slight jerkiness of the slewing can be fixed by adding more roller bearings and reducing the heavy load on the current 8?
  5. Oh I didn’t even realise the music lmao. I was watching/listening to a TV doco so I had the volume turned off. EDIT: Also I just realised that at 15:30 the elbow of the arm flexes. What’s up with that @myHeadz?
  6. Nice review! Do you think you could send some photos of the pages with prototype builds?
  7. I dunno, maybe they gear it down so there’s less stress in the gearbox or something. I realise it’s probably unlikely since the outriggers use MLAs instead of big ones.
  8. Does the crane get lifted off the ground? If so then I understand making outriggers so slow. Either way it doesn’t bother me too much.
  9. @Magical Duck Also bearing in mind that the Volvo license is generally quite low. I have a feeling it’s the CLAAS tyres and Volvo bucket that are driving the price up so much
  10. Aw man, just when I thought I was gonna buy this one, turns out it’s $200AUD, so $0.17/p. Honestly wouldn’t pay more than $180 for it. I think I might just build it from my own parts since I already have 42030 and 42054...
  11. Just checked Aus prices, and @Jar Jar Bricks the Jawa Sandcrawler is the second lowest priced set, at $0.16/p. The others are: Imperial Hauler: $0.18/p X-Wing: $0.19/p. Conveyex: $0.20/p Throneroom: $0.20/p Swoop Bikes: $0.13/p Anakin’s Starfighter: $0.18/p Some of these set prices genuinely make me go what the absolute shit Lego/Didney. Most of these sets would need to be at least a 25% discount before I’d even consider buying. There’s no way in hell I can fork out $140 for an X-Wing when I got a Y-Wing for $100 and a TIE Silencer for $110. Perhaps plastic is getting more expensive or something.
  12. @Jim Have to agree about 42055. It was awesome to build but some of the design choices leave you wondering wtf Lego why. I ended up modifying it to use 4 clutch gears instead of 2, and it’s still not very smooth. The set requires a complete redesign. I’ve been wanting to try a more traditional shape for it but haven’t gotten around to it because of how ambitious it is.
  13. Always buy the older one. You’ll have another chance to get 42082 in the future.
  14. Are you buying it for him? If so then it doesn’t really address us thinking it’s overpriced
  15. The hating is because many people think it’s overpriced and ugly, and includes unnecessary trinkets.
  16. I assume you meant the J-Type Diplomatic Barge. I wouldn’t mind one of those ?
  17. Ehhh I dunno, probably not any more so than other box art. To be fair, I don’t think people are buying this primarily for the log slicing bit - they mainly care about the pneumatics
  18. Maybe the designer just couldn’t think of a way to make it work. Which mind you is just a sign of a bad designer. At least it spins I guess...
  19. So it might indeed be a cost issue. Alternatively it could be to make them easier to distinguish. I hope not though because I don’t want to have millions of white pieces that are impossible to hide. I far preferred when they were DBG.
  20. I feel the same to be honest. I want Technic sets to be about the machine itself and its functions, not the trinkets that come with it. If I wanted to role play with tools then I’d buy City sets instead.
  21. I could see something like that working I’d guess, but you need significant force to separate it at the point of impact. It would likelier separate further away due to bending apart.
  22. Quite curious that they cancelled Boba and Luke/Yoda. Those two would definitely fly off the shelves. I wonder if Brickheadz aren’t selling well enough?
