Great review, terrible set. It really needs repeating that the cost/value of this set is perhaps the worst of any in TLG's Star Wars line-up (unless you sell the Minifigs and "castle" separately on eBay that is). I got this thinking I might build a scene from the Takodana battle using my FO Transporter, but it's so underwhelming I decided against it. What I will say is, I think TLG are by no means fools - my 6 year old boy was so excited by the castle and the falling tree that I just gave it straight to him (he did build most of it too). Now his favourite game is "Battle on Takonana" when it used to be "Battle of Hoth" (and my AT-ATs can finally get some well deserved R&R)

[MOC] Imperial Troop Transport from Star Wars Rebels

Awesome!! LDD if possible? -
Thanks for the review, great photos. It is a great looking set, I guess for those of us who didn't get any of the previous versions. I'm quite fond of the turret sticker actually - it looks pretty neat, but I understand people's dislike of stickers. A great teaser for the upcoming Echo base. BUT - TLGs timing sucks though doesn't it? They've just retired the AT-AT and the Snowspeeder then out pops this set.

Thanks guys! Here's the LDD http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/obi1000kenobi/OT-TIE/ot-tie.lxf

[MOD] Wing and landing gear for Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle
belkor replied to Master Chief's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yep that's it. Apart from what you see in the second photo, everything else was repositioned and built as close as possible to the original design. Originally I re-used the axles that came with the set to connect the hinges to the fuselage, but later I swapped those for black pins as there was less wobble. I used a mix of the red pins already used in the wings and black connectors to fix the hinges to the wings. The hinges bulge out of the wings slightly so some plates need to be repositioned too - but that is all I needed to do as far as the wings were concerned. Cheers -
That is really really good. The simple but effective tiled floor really sets it off too. Great work sir.

Looks like a whole lot of wasted/lost space used to hide the mechanism in Bruce's desk/office (Floor goes down to the batcave and/or rotates maybe?). A big compromise if the model is used for display. Something I'm not too keen on is the colour - but the Wayne Manor in the TV show did have a lot of red/brown bricks. Prefer the grey/dark colours used for earlier Batcaves and Arkhams.

If this set had come in black (but still had the fixed wing issue) would all the haters become lovers?

Dude - what's the score with the TIE Fighter wing/pylon connectors, they're a bit odd looking? -
Just received Hoth Attack today after ordering from TLG online (am in UK = YODEL) on the 26th December - came with a free Winter Soldier poly bag. That's pretty good service, have no fear :)

[MOD] Wing and landing gear for Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle
belkor replied to Master Chief's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah those are the ones. I needed a few extra technics bricks to build the cross spar (the dimensions of which are 2 x 18) and some black friction connector pins (part # 4121715) to hold them together. -
But you can get 4 minfigs including 2 stormies for £11.99 in the FO battle pack. The price for 75139 is just crazy.

I think TLG were probably relieved to have some new material to work from. For me, the FO Transporter and the TIE Fighter are both great sets. The transporter in particular has really grown on me since I've seen the movie, I'm tempted to buy another one in fact. As people have said, it's only the length of the ship that stops it from being close to perfect. As a kids toy, the transporter is simply brilliant. -
Takodana price per piece is more than the TIE Fighter (at full rrp)! Total rip off........
-
Lego Shop UK has the Battle on Takodana set listed as coming on the 1st of January, priced @ £49.99. There's no way that set is worth fifty quid. Hoth Attack seems like a bargain at £19.99 http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Battle-on-Takodana-75139

I don't suppose you would mind telling us where you placed your "pre"order? Cheers

There's hardly any star wars Lego left in the Leeds shop now, certainly none of the 2016 sets. Was gonna get the Hoth Attack this lunch time but they're long gone. If you want Kylo's shuttle or the FO Transport at full rrp you'll be ok though.
-
Just goes to show that it doesn't take much to turn this set into a good one. However, to make a brilliant one it needs to be all black.
-
Can anyone else confirm - do ASDA have these in store? There's not a mention of them being for sale/in stock anywhere online.........

Here's a couple of grainy pics (sorry - that's all I could muster) from trailers showing the V wing in action from a new angle. The shot only lasts a second before it switches to the view of the shuttle approaching the Star Destroyer
-
I've seen another "composite" trailer on the Disney channel and I think your pic is correct. There's a shot showing the shuttle leaving a planet and the wings are folded down more, and look to be folding up as the picture transitions to the clip where it approaches the star destroyer.
