  1. ....and the SF TIE Fighter Pilot minifigs are well cool.
  2. Yep looks good, very busy vegetation. The mushrooms look very magic indeed ;) Quick question - how many Rebel troopers were on the Tydirium?
  3. The mod covers both of those scenarios - the wings can be put in a number of positions including the original vertical. **Edit** Hopefully all will be revealed tomorrow night when/if the proper trailer comes out!
  4. Yep, me too please!
  5. Followed the Chief's lead and used the double technics joint method to mod the wings. The only real difference was that I used a raft of interconnected technic bricks to connect the 2 sides and stop the clutch force being overcome at certain points. The wings are heavy, and the force generated where the hinges connect to the fuselage is pretty large. This does mean losing 1 brick level from the rear compartment, but I wasn't bothered by that. There is one problem with the hinge method though - they only connect 2 notches in to the fuselage on the hinge arms (see photo). This means the wings wobble a bit when touched, although there's no way anything will come apart due to the technics bricks used earlier. I reckon to really do this justice, it needs a bigger rebuild so 3 hinges per side can be used.
  6. Looks great, nice detail, but could do with some more snow and Rebel armaments though.
  7. Good luck with that one mate! That's a lot of drip feeding....;)
  8. Cool :) Big improvement on the original.
  9. Aren't we talking about LEGO versions of Star Wars, not exact replicas? The white version is closer to the studio models, therefore would be my preference if LEGO made 2 colours versions. I imagine introducing a new colour is a pretty big deal for TLG, I doubt they'd do it so we could have an exactly coloured MF.
  10. Mmmmmmm - compare studio models to LEGO.....
  11. I like it. In fact I prefer it. Thanks for you effort appiah!
  12. Lovely job! Much prefer the blue and white version. Together though, what a pair :)
  13. If you watch the trailer closely the wings don't seem to move. If they are folding, it's very slow, which doesn't follow the usual pattern in the films (the wings fold quickly just before landing/just after take off). Now I know this shuttle could be completely different, but having slow folding wings seems like a big disadvantage for what looks to be shuttle with assault capabilities. I'd bet on flight mode being an upright V of around 50-55 degrees.
  14. Nice pics mate! This definitely finishes the shuttle off nicely, I'm gonna do mine like that too. Thanks for the post :)
  15. I thought this looked rubbish in the leaked photos, but when people had it built and reviewed it, it really started to grow on me. The MODs with the wings in V mode really sealed it for me, so I got one. Having built it, I'm stuck in 2 minds. One the one hand, it really is ugly and has far too many exposed studs - it looks like a pile of LEGO bricks. On the other hand, it's imposing & mean looking - it has presence. But it should be a sleek, almost graceful ship. In other formats (Hasbro, Micro Machines, Revell etc) it looks really really cool - like a cross between a manta ray and a vampire bat. The red flash of the cockpit screen at the front, the black colour, the large but sleek wings. It looks slippery and mean. Even with the wings stuck in vertical, it's cool. In LEGO format though, it's not quite right. I think the fuselage is too big and boxy compare to the wings - it's not sleek enough. I actually think the wings are ok - except for the studs. It's the cockpit which is off, and despite the size of it there's naff all space inside for figures. The thing is though, my kids LOVE it. They can't stop playing with the wings (and I haven't done the V wing mod yet using technic ratchet joints). They endlessly fold those things up and down! Surely that's the most important thing as far as LEGO are concerned - playability? The interesting thing is it does challenge you to think about it, and it has the power to grow on you as a design, especially if you MOD it. In terms of source material we've seen so far, the ship itself is by far the coolest in Star Wars FA.
  16. Thanks for the MOD MrLee! It looks like you've got the V angle a bit too large though, they need to be about 7-10 degrees more upright. When the wings are in V mode, have you pinned them into the technics bricks or just left them riding on the stopper underneath? If they're pinned, could you describe what changes you had to make to do this? Cheers ;)
  17. Thanks for the review and photos. This is probably my favourite FO LEGO design from the wave. It's the most pleasing to the eye (although it is oversized) and gets all of it's features out there in the open rather than hidden from view. Great for display, and very accessible for kids.
  18. Yes please ;)
  19. Cheers mate, think I will be building this (or something similar anyhow) next weekend :)
  20. Yep looks loads better! Nice mod. How long is the transporter supposed to be?
  21. Mate, that's awesome! Clever the way you've kept close to source and got the 2 drivers in there + officer. Do you have the LDD file? Cheers
  22. Good call. To fit a full size AT-DP or TIE that ship would have to be seriously huge...... Love this version by the way.
  23. Good call re: combining 2 packs - I'm working on something similar myself. It's a cool & neat design, and the interior space plus lid is a nice touch. If I was limiting myself as you have done parts-wise, I would have kept the number of external troop placements at 4, and used the extra space/bricks to widen the front section a bit and get a driver in there (personal preference though eh?)/
  24. Thanx for the comments. Yeah I'm thinking of making the wings white, and possibly changing the cockpit to dark blue-ish grey (i.e. building a new one!). It's just a matter of making the investment in white plates and wedges (TIE wings aint cheap that's for sure). I also need to build the wings for my Interceptor. The lxf file is available here http://www.brickshel...t-order-tie.lxf Here are some side-by-side photos, taken with an OT Grey TIE and 75101. Unfortunately, I've only got one set of 75101 canopy pieces and so the standard FO TIE has the pieces from 75082 (which are clearly the wrong colour) whilst I sort a new set. I prefer the Grey OT version myself.
  25. This is just a new colour version or my previously posted TIE Fighter. The cockpit window and hatch pieces have been taken from 75101 (and lush they are too). This week I will be shortening the wings by 1 stud (each side) and adding the front canons.
