  1. Awesome work there mate - many thanks for doing this :)
  2. Amazing attention to detail, looks awesome from the outside. Then there's the interior - epic!! Best Star Wars MOC I've seen in quite some time. It must have taken a long long time. Did you work from any plans/LDD or just go for it?
  3. Geez the b.i.n price is £640. I'm always amazed by the prices some people hope for.
  4. Presumptive and patronising words indeed. This is about customer-perceived value. One man's junk is another man's treasure. For me the value just isn't there in this product to justify the price tag. I've got a good job, I can afford it, but I would feel like I've been ripped off if I bought it. I get the feeling that TLG marketing department have decided they can get more money for some of these big sets because their brand is so strong at the moment. They're trying it on, and some suckers will happily pay anything it seems.
  5. Having seen it in the flesh, I like it. Particularly the minifigs - they are lush. However, if I'm gonna drop £230 on a LEGO set it would have to be amazing. I'd like to own it, and I loved the idea of it when it was first announced. I'm annoyed with LEGO for pricing me out of buying a set I would have bought at a more realistic price. I'm just guessing here, but I imagine a lot of AFOLs feel the same way. And the only place they can express that annoyance is on a forum like this!
  6. I really like the blast doors, so I'm currently putting the design into LDD (as best as I can from the photos) so I can bricklink my own version of it. Hopefully the talented AFOLs on here on EB could collaborate and design an interior for the base too.....
  7. Exceptional photos there mate, you are clearly a pro - nice job!
  8. Cool, well I appreciate the amount of effort that goes into putting a build into LDD. People do mostly seem to give free downloads here though (unless they've authored pro quality instructions), but you're quite right re: promotion.
  9. Looks great in black, with the red view port. I must ask though - you're selling the lxf for this on ebay yeah?
  10. Strictly only ones I have in my collection: 1. Sandtrooper from Mos Eisely Cantina (extra printing, pauldron and backpack = one hell of a cool Stormtrooper). 2. Agent Kallus from the AT-DP set (love his helmet oo err ;)) 3. General Hux (just looks cool in black) 4. Luke Skywalker Snowspeeder Pilot 75049 5. FO Heavy Stormtrooper (exceptionally good quality, I like the extra black webbing rather than the all-white look). I wonder when we'll start to see LEGO using their newer minifig techniques with OT characters? I think they did an amazing job with most of the FA minifigs, but we've yet to see that same with most OTs (e.g. a new TIE-Pilot with tube etc would be awesome, visor inserts with Rebel pilots etc).
  11. Having had a few days to think about it, I do really like it as a playset (speaking as someone with only 75049, 75054 & 75138 in my collection). The blast doors are fantastic, and the minifigs all look the part (even though they aren't using some of TLGs latest techniques like dual molded legs and such). The problem is the price point they've opted for is too high for something that lacks the wow factor and attention to detail we'd expect from a UCS model. The opportunity cost of this set for me is simply too high. I could buy it, but I wouldn't feel good about it. Which of course is my problem, not LEGOs....
  12. The cheapest way to get an AT-AT now is to bricklink it (luckily the part list is on rebrickable).
  13. For those not willing or unable to part with 250 Euro, a couple of those sets will go very nicely with the AT-ST coming out later this year.
  14. So what's the target demographic for this one? AFOLs or kids with really rich parents? I mean, I'd happily have one, but it's so massively over expensive for the overall effect. It lacks the wow factor that's inherent in the proper UCS sets
  15. Modular construction that was a challenge for the most skilled fan builders?
  16. It's not modular, it's loads of small/medium (ish!) builds. Mmmm My Mrs would have my wotsits off if I said I'd spent £230 (or whatever) on that. Think I'll just bricklink the bits I want
  17. Just curious mate, but what were your hopes? It's hard to see how/why they would do anything other than a large minifig scale "playset"?
  18. Lol - nope. No recollection of it! Plus it reminds me of an inferior version of the star fighter from Buck Rogers.
  19. Agreed, the A-Wing is dull in comparison to the X-Wing and although it appeared in ROTJ I honestly can't remember seeing it.
  20. Good work, keep going - look forward to seeing the doors :)
  21. Thanks for the guide, nicely done. Do you have photos of the finished build? Cheers
  22. I agree the detailing on the wings is superb! I don't think it makes TLG's version look bad, they are different models for different purposes. The cabin on 75104 is particularly good, and functional too. This MOC would be awesome if the wings were completed, and could extend and swing outwards to form the V. From these pictures it's impossible to tell what the rest of the cabin and the engines look like, so it's hard to give a fair and complete judgement. The greebling on the wings is brilliant though :)
  23. I really really like this mate - great work. Kinda reminds me of a how the TIE Predator should have looked. The struts/pylons have nice shape to them, the red flashes give it an extra bit of style, and the angle and shape of the wings is very Star Wars. More photos of the wings up and in other positions would be greatly appreciated. In fact, I may just build this (or something based on it) to add to my TIE fleet. Nice one :)
