Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
belkor replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What he said. It's a pretty sturdy set imho, and pretty cool too - if bought at a discount. -
I'm with you on this one - they're disappointing, whilst 75104 is an awesome set (and at 40% off is a must buy).
-
Fantastic work mate, well done. One thing though - but the V-wing angle looks a bit shallow, I believe they should be more upright (judging by the brief scene in the trailer when they're flying up to the Star Destroyer). Black gets my vote, but the white looks wicked too. Both are certainly better than the official DBG version.

Truly a work of art - thanks for posting.

Looks really good, good stuff. Any chance of an lxf? Cheers

Nice work. I think the grey sandwiched by black is the most practical way of getting the grey surround, rather than using tiles as done in 9492 (standard TIE fighter). I like the pylons too - is there an axle running through the centre to help secure the wings?

The shuttle looks damn good in black. The wings look much better with the folding mechanism removed and the holes covered up. However, I must say that I find the folding quite satisfying so I'm gonna re-use TLGs design on my shuttle MOC. Am looking forward to seeing the photos when you've finished. Thanks for posting.

They can be picked up for a sensible price from Amazon now anyways. Yep, it's a great set. Love the way TLG did the black arm band thingies on the pylons. Now, we just need TLG to produce a new system scale OT TIE Fighter to match.

[MOC]Episode VII-The Force Awakens-First Order Walker
belkor replied to KevFett2011's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think the look of the vehicles is due to the decision making process (aka JJ Abrams) and not the absence of the OT designer. It's all very deliberate. It doesn't seem quite right does it? But this is normal practice in Star Wars Rebels - they just plonk them down wherever. What I find more difficult though is the use of TIE fighters inside an atmosphere - those things would be at the mercy of any crosswind. Going back to the OP, the MOC is outstanding - incredible work. But man, those things are so ugly!- 14 replies

Inner spokes are great, an essential addition. Shame TLG didn't rate them highly enough to include them

Nice mods, definitely improves the Transporter :)

2 hinges per wing is enough, as long as they're anchored nicely.
-
That looks great - will be picking this up. However, $17.95 airmail to the UK is bloomin expensive. Digital copy just doesn't do it for me unfortunately.
-
Not sure about other countries, but there are some crazy prices on amazon.co.uk for TFA sets today e.g. 39% off 75104, 27% off 75103. I picked up another Special Forces TIE 75101 @27% off rrp.
-
Yeah the force generated is relatively large (compared with the average brick's clutch power). I rebuilt the back and interconnected the technics bricks to make it quite solid. The only stability issue remaining was the fact the the hinges would move about a bit on their axels.
-
Rebels is such a rich source of material, but with TFA and Rogue One coming up (not to mention the OT, PT and Battle Front) it's hard to see TLG giving it the attention it deserves. They're spoilt for choice now!
-
Judging the scale by what we've seen so far, the red stripe at the front is too narrow to be a wind-shield.
-
It seems fair to expect a couple of stormies, but LEGO will be conscious not to remove the need to buy the FO Transporter set.
-
It's a shame the DBG bits can't be transformed to black though eh, it's essentially like buying another shuttle (don't get me wrong though, I will be doing it soon ;))
-
Indeed it was just a matter of time, although Lynx beat you to it if you look in the 2015 rumours thread. None the less, awesome work mate :) Really like the changes done to the front. Did you start from scratch, or mod the DBG version?

[MOD] Wing and landing gear for Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle
belkor replied to Master Chief's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Did anyone spot Kylo Ren's shuttle parked up on the shore line during the trailer? Wings upright and "collapsed" in landing mode: -
Here are the photos (thanks for emailing them Lynx ;)) Looks great in black, defo needs the v wing mod doing. I'm thinking about whether to slowly convert mine to black, or just go ahead and make a MOC (will wait till i've seen the film though eh :)
-
That looks well cool, hope someone adds the wings to their TIE Advanced.
-
Nice work. Getting the beams on the inside of the wings is really important to the look, I defo need to put some effort in in that regard. Such a great idea to build the Shuttle wings the same as the top fin - brilliant. That's going on my list of things to do in the near future.
