[MOC] Scorpion Tracker 2023
Murdoch17 replied to The Reader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
No problem @The Reader! By the way: I just got the final parts to make it in the real world today. I'll tag you when I make my EB post so you can see it, as it differs somewhat from the original digital model... -

Brickshelf is shutting down. Let's try to save it.
Murdoch17 replied to Trekkie99's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well that's strange. I wonder why? I hope they don't go away too.... all my publicly-shared LDD files are on there! -

@Jim can you frontpage this info about Brickshelf? So everyone who uses it knows that it's no longer going to be around and they should get everything they can off the site? @KotZ now would be a good time to get your stuff off there. -
[MOC] Scorpion Tracker 2023
Murdoch17 replied to The Reader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The converted car (technically a railmobile) is going to work in my 1920s / '30s railroad. During the Depression, (or for really cash starved railroads at any point since 1915 or so), they used modified cars for certain jobs. In this case, it's supposed to be more of an track inspection / official's vehicle. This way a superintendent could travel quickly throughout his entire division without having to hop onto a train., and this would also give him a better look at the track conditions to see what needs repair. I hope this answers your question, @The Reader. -
[MOC] Scorpion Tracker 2023

@The Reader I've just designed a LDD version of your car in black with train wheels, which my brother rendered for me because I suck at Studio. I linked back to your album with the instructions in the description, and I hope you approve of my changes. I'll let you know when it's really built! -

[FINISHED] Maintenance of Eurobricks on 20th January
Murdoch17 replied to aFrInaTi0n's topic in Forum Information and Help
One on bottom, two on right side. They also aren't on every page, oddly. It's just strange I wasn't seeing them, now I am and I can't turn them off. It seems more like the update broke my adblocker... -

@aFrInaTi0n I thought we were going ad-less in January? I'm getting a metric ton of ads, even with ad blocker on. Google analytics and so on are being blocked by Privacy Badger (my ad blocker), but I'm still seeing ads, which shouldn't be possible. Thoughts? -
Thanks @XG BC, you are totally awesome!

Nice MOCs @BillytheKid! I wish that book was more widely available. I read a library copy once as a child, and nowadays I want to use the instructions... chances are I'll never hold it in my hands again as it's pretty rare. EDIT: I just checked Amazon to see what they had for sale. $300 is a lot of money for one book, so yeah - not happening!

[MOC] Scorpion Tracker 2023
Murdoch17 replied to The Reader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I would make me sad too. Side note: I wish they'd release it in a neutral color, like white or light bluish gray... or both! -
Patience - we won't get any pictures for a long while yet. LEGO has really been cracking down on leaks, so don't expect anything picture-wise until they are revealed, and even if they did leak things change from pre-production to being on shelves so take everything you see or read with a mountain of salt. Also, some sets never get released even if they leak. (Temple of Doom got cancelled by Disney when we had a picture, for example)

I see you've taken my whole post and looked at one sentence only. What I said about the LEGO colors / themes still stands... no matter what possibly misused words I used top convey the concept.

Ok, another neat part is being added to my Bricklink want list. Nice MOC @The Reader, I always love your classic-yet-updated builds! (Adventurers FTW!) -
Prepare yourself for a massively unpopular opinion about LEGO colors: Dark Blue has been around in bricks since 1961, Medium Blue since 1949, and Maersk Blue from 1954 up to 2011, as well as the VERY rare Light blue starting in 1949 and running up until 2007, which is also when regular blue came out (1949). So new colors - such as the forementioned blues - are not a new, modern thing. LEGO experiments with new colors and parts to keep fresh, as they always have done and will continue to do. If they didn't do this, or do away with licensed themes, they would have been bought by Mattel long ago, like they almost were in 2001 / 2002. This revisionist rose-tinted glasses thing about the 1970s, 80s, and early 90s being better, with less colors and less themes is total fantasy. (sorry, but it's true!) For some theme examples: LEGO was working on Vikings in 1978 but decided to go with Castle instead. Western would have come out in the 1980s, but Pirates performed slightly better in focus groups, and they only had production capacity for one new theme - and Pirates was pushed back like three years anyway for the lack of factory space / money to expand. (All this is written in the book 'The secret life of LEGO minifigures', among many other tidbits that will blow your mind.)

Welcome to Eurobricks and Train Tech @Aleksi Perala! From what I can see of your models they are amazing! Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see more detailed pictures of what you've made!
