[MOC] Adventurer in Gnarled Forest
Murdoch17 replied to Exetrius's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I would support a LU project in a heartbeat... great model by the way. Maybe a set with the original LU figure: Bob, and possibly a small to medium sized model of the Venture Explorer? I've always wanted a model of it that wan't micro-scale..- 15 replies

July 2016 LEGO trains and town layout - real life WIP
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks! I don't do base-plates that much, they are too flimsy and expensive in the colors I would need. Thanks anyway! Thanks, I'll look into it! -
Main Post Edited: 7/10/16: Since the original pictures of this model are not my best, I've retaken them and added some new ones. I also restructured the writing. Enjoy the revamped thread!

I have seen a couple James Bond films, but not that one... I though the name was original and unused. Oh well, thanks for the info!

Using 76057 Spiderman Ultimate Bridge Battle as a train bridge
Murdoch17 replied to mostlytechnic's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You and I think alike! I created a 16 stud wide modular version that is 10 tracks long. It should hold up under the weight of a train, but I'm not 100% sure. (Not trying to promote my work, but If you want to see more, here's a thread link: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=136284 ) -
July 2016 LEGO trains and town layout - real life WIP

Thank you! Thanks. the tramp steamer is part of the "Adventurers" themed thread seen here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118213 It is part of a large resupply depot complex, along with the Island Hopper seaplane and potentially this Sinister submarine for the attacking bad guys: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=136501 -
Here is my 2016 layout, with most of the items already built, but some still remain to be purchased. Here is a complete list of what's on my tables, not including trains or automobiles because they can be rotated on or off the layout very easily. All of this sits on three very carefully arranged 30 inch by 72 inch tables. Now for the reality check: This is the current state of my trains and town layout. I don't have any other space for things on the table, as below the tables and in the closet is full of Lego bins, either color sorted in slide-out drawers, former model chunks in bins, or put together in customized paper boxes. Here we see the entire layout and compared to the nice chart I posted earlier, it's bit of a mess. The water models area has a police station and Cloud Cuckoo Land in it, and the left hand town area next to the station has my clock radio and assorted stuff for models not yet built. The rail yard is mostly put together, with my streamlined 4-8-2 steamer and diesel PA / PB units getting ready for their day of work. The steam loco is arriving at the coaling / water towers to refuel while the ALCO units are going to be switched onto the mainline to pull it's assigned express train. (The train is not on the table to save space and keep it from getting too dusty.) The town is mostly there, with the streetcars rounding the curves onto and off the main street. The sections only needs two 90 degree (X) crossings to be finished. Now you may be thinking it's really bad, but it is a lot better than it was, and still has a ways to go. It's all about baby steps toward the larger goal of having my dream layout, something I have always wanted since seeing my Dad's layout when I was 5 or 6. For those wondering, here's my ideal layout's items.... most of them I have already, but a half-dozen or so I don't own yet. This layout contains the following track sections: 3 - Right switches 3 - Left switches 62 - Straight segments 46 - Curved segments 2 - 90 degree rail crossing (still needed) 1 - Double rail crossover This layout contains the following train facilities: - Truss bridge - Ironwood Train station -Trolley Stop (still needed) - Water and coal refueling stations - Double stall train shed This layout contains the town buildings: - Sinister Victorian Mansion - Stone Bank - Western Saloon - Thunder's office - Town Hall (still needed) - Military Surplus store - Tudor style House - Model Rocket store - Tavern - Train club meeting house - Railway Headquarters (still needed) This layout contains the following miscellaneous other items: - Tramp steam ship - Lighthouse - Car ferry - Leisure vessel (still needed) - Rural Cabin Comments and feedback would be really appreciated!

I have been lucky, I never really had a a dark age, maybe a gray age where I just built occasionally.... that was around early 2005 to early 2007, when LEGO just didn't offer anything I liked. They got rid of 9v trains and replaced them with RC, which my 12 year old self in 2006 couldn't believe was true. It really broke my heart to see 9v go, but then I discovered set 7997 (2007's Train Station) and 7996 (RC double crossover) that brought me out of my depressed slump. I still have both models to this day. (I heavily modified the train station, though)

Birney Safety Trolley - 1910's bi-directional streetcar
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
After finding the last four macaroni bricks for the base of car 32, this streetcar project is considered done... for now. Here you can see them on my layout with my old fashioned buildings. It will remain this way until Lego or ME models decide to release part 32087 except without 9v metal for Power Functions. (this part: http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=32087#T=C ) Then I can finish my two separate loops: one for trolleys, and one for mainline trains. Until then (if it ever happens), I may just put forth the cash for two 9v "X" 90 degree crossover.... around $50 (US) for two of them. But for now, it will remain a point-to-point layout. -
Kickstarter: ME Models Tracks for both metal and ABS only track pieces
Murdoch17 replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Is their a way to post suggestions? I have need for two cross tracks ("+" style, like the old 9v type) in PF colors with no metal.... would it be possible to make these tracks in 9v, PF, or both? You guys already have a system for assembling straights and curves, what about a cross track sometime in the not-to-distant future? EDIT: here is what I'm talking about: http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=32087#T=C -
Some days it seems like I'm posting posts that no-one reads.... it's kinda depressing and sometimes makes me feel like stopping. However, I haven't stopped yet and have no intention of doing so, as i have too many ideas left to share to waste them with not posting. I could inspire somebody (and I have occasionally done this "inspiring" thing) that leads to a Lego builder emerging from the mists of their Dark Ages to build with ABS plastic once more!

The Indiana Jones films are sort of the the reason for this model existing. I thought if his bad guys can have a sub, why not Lord Sam Sinister? That thought led me to set 4888, and eventually to this MOC.

Birney Safety Trolley - 1910's bi-directional streetcar

Sorry for the late reply, but here's the ldd file: http://www.moc-pages.com/user_images/80135/1467752220m.lxf I took the nose of your engine and added it to another model I was stuck on. I hope that's okay....

I must say, I love this train. I took a look at the ldd file, and I hope this is okay, but I changed some things while editing the windows. I added headlights (which required lengthening the cab by a single stud), and changed the "off-white" color from very light bluish gray to white, which is what I think the original color was intended to be. Then I removed the 1x4 tiles on the top of bogies, as they wouldn't turn otherwise. I also changed the door colors to the cheaper blue version. Please don't be mad at me, but here it is: I took out the other loco when i was working on the front one, but it is a simple matter of copy + pasting in a duplicate engine with the lights colored trans red. oh, and the small side doors were changed too, as these are still in production and might be cheaper. I hope it's okay what I did, If you don't like it, I will removed it... if you do like it, i'll return to you the LDD file. As i said before, you did a wonderful job and i want one of these for myself.

The model looks nice, it has a great '90's feel to it, just like a futuristic Metroliner. However, those windows you used on the passenger car are very expensive. You might want to use these panels instead, inter-spaced with 1x2 bricks to create the same effect: http://www.bricklink...age?P=60581#T=C If you don't quite get what I'm trying to say, I can knock out a Mock-up to illustrate... EDIT: oh, and you might want to find a different site to host your ldd file. Eurobricks has a very small limit. I suggest MOCpages or Bricksafe to upload your file to.

This is the part that I used: http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=30137#T=C for the back of the seats.

This model was inspired by two Harry Potter sets numbered 4841 (Hogwarts Express, 4th Edition) & 4728 (Escape from Privet Drive) plus a single Friends set number 41101 (Heartlake Grand hotel) to create this single vehicle type, the 1960's Ford Anglia 105-E. This isn't my first time creating this car, but it is my first time reworking the model so heavily.... usually I follow the same pattern set forth from this model: This is from way back in June 2007. And this is from today. Unfortunately, the only colors you can build this car in is white or black. To keep it visually interesting, the black car has white furnishings, while the white car has a dark bluish gray interior. The front of the car features headlight styling cues from Heartlake Grand Hotel's Taxicab, while retaining the grille work of set the Weasely's Anglia from the Hogwarts Express set. I also added hinge plates to the sides by the doors to represent mirrors. The rear of the car has the trunk design from 4728's version of the same flying car from the 2002 Chamber of Secrets set line. Oh, and the bumper features a license plate and tailpipe. The model features two off-center seats for mini-figures (two can fit in the car), opening trunk with plenty of luggage space, and two opening doors. Here is the LDD file for both the white and black model cars: http://www.moc-pages...1467244397m.lxf Comments, Questions, and complaints are always welcome, as I would love feedback on the models. Thanks in advance! EDIT: Here is a picture of an actual Anglia for reference, taken from Wikipedia. Here is the link to it's wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Anglia

Update for the main post! Okay, so I just updated the car and thought a personal tour with Benny would be fun to do... if this is boring let me know, I'm trying this style for the first time and want feed back, please.
