Should new castles have (raised) blaseplates?
gedren_y replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I meant the most recent design. The baseplate in PQ has existed for quite some time. -
Should new castles have (raised) blaseplates?
gedren_y replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Raised baseplates have their uses, but they don't facilitate play very well. I am currently using one from a hospital set in a MOC. I believe the most recent raised baseplate was the 2009 Pirates island, which was designed so that it could rest squarely upon other Lego. That particular piece, though, could have benefitted from some internal cross support. The raised base in the later Bionicle play sets are probably the best example of this kind of base. I don't own any, but have used them in LDD. -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion

From what I understand about the rules for stanard contest with a prize, the build should be in real bricks. There are some exceptions, but those are when the contest rules specifically allow digital submissions (the recent Bionicle contest). There are usually some restrictions for digital submissions to contests. -

As freebuilds, yes, but I don't think they count much in guild points (if that is still a thing). I and at least one other have done this. -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
gedren_y replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
About the Rhino mech, there is other precedent. I remember reading a Spider-man comic that had a second Rhino in a mech suit. The original Rhino had retired from crime, but suited up to fight the new guy. The writers of the movie script appear to have taken an element from the comic and used it in a different way. Lego made a set that related to the movie in one way, but the rest of the set was clearly from the comic. Overlapping divergence is what I believe has happened in the design of this set. -

Yay for Spidey! Now if only they could get the same deal with Fox. I doubt we'll see Spidey in this year's movies, but we have already seen the ASM2 polybag, so more movie sets might still be a possibility. -
A nice review, but the useful parts link is the wrong one. The link you have is the one for your other recent Ninjago review.

About the cut-out, there are a number of unproduced figure designs that have been used in promotional material. I remember some discussion in one of the CMF threads about a figure in boxer shorts with hearts on them alongside a female tailor on a store display. It happens often enough that I don't pay much attention to store displays. The prospect of a 2016 relaunch has me hopeful. An in-house fantasy line being rumored on the heels of the mini-doll Elves, while a bit speculative, looks to be within the realm of possibility. All the new molds created for Elves could have other applications. Some Chima parts would also make fine additions to a more detailed Castle line.

I received notice that my bricklink order will be mailed tomorrow. With any luck my Nestlands Embassy in Nocturnus will be finished by the end of the month. I will try to have a small build for Quest for the Egg up by Friday. -
Interesting things afoot. Vladivus' keep appears well appointed. Shadowmere must be enjoying some lucrative trade.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion

The head on the skeleton in the image vaguely resembles the mask made popular by the Scream movies (and their spoofs). -
You have real skill. It would be better, IMO, if you used Chima fig parts to make them animals like the movie. Little John might have been hard to do, though.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
gedren_y replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
About Infinity War, do we know if Marvel is going to gloss over The Illuminati? Mr. Fantastic and Professor X are members, so it is likely. No figs for them any time soon either. On the other hand, Tony Stark and Black Bolt are members. We should be getting Black Bolt, and a bunch of other interesting figs, as we are getting an Inhumans movie in the future. Doctor Strange (upcoming movie) could take one of the places, and maybe Nick Fury could take another. I know how Lego could do the good doctor. The Eye of Agamotto can be made with the CMF medal part. The current CMF Dark Wizard's cape top piece is almost the exact shape needed for his cape collar. Namor has yet to be established in the movies, but he also plays both sides. He would be relatively easy to make with the CMF elf piece in black with fleshie ears. The make-up of the Cabal is equally spotty, with both FF and Spidey villains as members. All speculation, I know. I just wanted to share my thoughts. -
Kaliphlin gets quality! Welcome to de bestest guild.

Maybe it will be shown somewhere the characters would attend. One of the Comic-Con events might be more likely. Remember, just because it passed review doesn't mean the set is ready to present to vendors.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

The other names areββ the mountains. 'Nol' is the word for low mountain in the old language. (No one seems to have caught the Red Dwarf reference.) Good job Masa. It looks like something that would be in Aturl's wardrobe. Just remember, that if there is food in the scene, Nestlands clansmen don't eat birds. -

Just a reminder of where the Nestlands Clans of the Armored Eagle Goddess are located. Sdair Zuuree is currently somewhere northeast of Sultan's Gate. The Quest for the Egg has been slow going, but Sdair fervent in his belief and will not give up. -

Havok was originally in X-Factor. It was only much later that Alex Summers was a part of the X-Men roster. -
It is quite probable that this set is being delayed because of episode production. Other possibilities include decisions on figure prints, character inclusion, or what stage setting/props get represented falling under CBS' control.

The swamp monster in the set is dark green. The initial image linked was a bit dark.

Ska, let him be. Sometimes people need to create their own stories. If his interest gets piqued, he can always come back. Beery, build what you want. See you around the forums. -
Not sure which show. I just remember the monster. Scooby snacks were more like medium dark flesh, and the most common shape was the rhombus of Scooby's tag. Sometimes they had a stamped in S. The over-sized sandwich is a Shaggy staple. A stretched mouth Shaggy would be welcome at some point.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Stan Lee is a distinct possibility. His cameos are a staple of the Marvel movies (even the non-Disney ones). It would be a relatively easy to produce fig, but a real want of fans. -
I remember the swamp monster. He is color correct. It's a long shot, but I wonder if the mummy set gives us a bandage wrapped Scooby. He gets wrapped up by accident in at least one of the mummy episodes, but I don't think it was in the first series. As for the headless horseman, there are existing prints that would make a scarier figure. And the Eye of Sauron head will give you the fiery eyes. The character is correct, though, and I am happy that Lego is trying to capture the nostalgia of the older fans. Given that there is a TV show in production and a new movie in development, I think we could see several waves in the foreseeable future.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Black Widow's hair here is actually an action hair. It looks just like the image I have in front of me; the Galaxy Note 4/Avengers AOU fold out poster ad in this month's Wired magazine. The blue lines on her outfit are also fairly accurate. It is hard to see, but Hawkeye has purple lines on his outfit that Lego seems to have changed to their dark red to be more visible on black.
