Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
True, I forgot about no more DC. But you know even the Eternals set has more effort put in then last years DC wave. For many figures I dont know even how they get around new designs - as the last figurs were released quite a few years ago. All Im saying: Don't expect arm printing or dual molding. If its comming (like the beskar Mando): AWESOME. And if many figures are lackluster or reuses in the end: it would still be a more decent wave than what we got so far. A small hope is that there will be many new molds and prints due to the CMF. It's like putting the terrible Harry Potter figures next to the highly detailed CMF's. -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Not to offend anyone - but dont forget TLG has limited ressources. Last time they did stuff for Marvel, I think there was like 1 new mold and except for some new torso and face prints - barely anything beyond. People here now want any kind of detail. Even if Lego took ressources from (for example) Star Wars - they could not just magically make more than staff and factories allow them to make. Which means not any figure will get the best treatment. I love to be proofen wrong but don't get super dissapointed and then trash the company for your wishes... They seem to already have put many ressources into Eternals, Raya and also a bit into Shang Chi. -

but again this simply seems to come down to budget cuts for the theme (the media section at least). With just some more episodes, Im sure they would have fleshed out some arcs (Nya and nice) of most of all Zanes redemption. All new seasons still had many high points (the changelings backstory, Akito in season 12). But overall it seems TLG doesnt think its necessary to put ressources into the show. Like during times of cancellation threats, the community could make a stand for the show and change something. But let's see how s15 will be. -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I never understood the choice to put a Gunship in. Sure you could make it super detailed with 10.000 pieces. But Brickvaults version is just around 1.500 parts and was perfect - you could also do a standard set for 150-200 bucks lets say.. So maybe they did up the size (like 1,5:1 for minifigure scale). I would rather have kept the size but- put in decent amount of detailed figures. -

This is what I was expecting. Again, really sad. But even the island for me was OK, so I will just try so see the show in the future as something like smaller side clips. I guess the peak of seasons like Skybound or Hunted - it was just not fit for any market. Reminds me so much of Star Wars the Clone Wars. They put sooo much effort into the animation of that Oni-Titan. For a pyjama-men-toy commercial... naja it could not go on forever.. at least not in that quality. I would also be happy about something with similar quality as Master of Mountains. Was pretty fine for its limitations, for sure the best of the new seasons. I barely forced myself to get in on sale, as I only allow myself to get certain dragons and ships. No regret there. It's such a compact ship. Decent interior and I love the mechanism. slightly above the Movie Bounty its my favourite Lego set. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is crazy insight! I think it’s barely possible nowadays to look so close into development of a show (without the PR section censoring anything) A sad resume though is really to see how thin the line is between no story vs. good story vs. ok story or even vs. bad story. The ending scene for MoM would have made the season much better. Same goes for more development for Prime Empire. I felt the story was so disconnected from Jay and the Lore – even though there would have been so many connection points. The same goes for Zane and s11 – the end was just “hey you good?” “yes Im good again” – and done. Unfortunate the show is shifting more towards cutting stuff. I really hope they were just making s14 short (for sure they had similar potential developed), to put budget into S15. If this will also become like a few episodes, then I fear Ninjago is more than a shadow of what it once was. I would also feel sorry for all the amazing people in the background, putting so much effort into concepts, voice acting, stories.. Let’s hope it becomes at least s13 good. -

there was/and still is a subreddit. It was working short time but then they werent allowed to post leaks anymore and the place died. After I remember leaks popped up on Youtube. People like Just2good "became famous" by posting pictures. As this became bigger they also shut it down. Instagram so far is the only thing they cannt seem to control. So I think it will just reflect the community - including spams and other shit. I think the bigger issue is that there are less proper leaks - like the factory figures. Remember the many waves where we got basically all figures leaked, before to see the sets? Those were good times ;) -
I was rewatching the movie some time ago and found it much better. I also enjoyed the first time around - but its clear that the writing team didnt have enough time to process stuff better - The Lego Batman movie and TLM were better in this regard. The jokes are also the weakest - but I dont know what people have. TLNM and TLM2 were pretty similar to the other two movies. They had the same strenghts and the same weaknesses. They were some or quite a few ticks less well written. That's all I see. In Ninjagos case I think the movie also tapped into the insecurity the fanbase has. Did it make fun of it? Did it rewrite the Ninjago univserse? I personally think the movie just doesnt have much to do with the show, thats all. And for sure I love the show much more but that's not to blame for the movie. The movie needed to change stuff and make it simple for a world wide audience. The show is simply too good to even come close to anyway. It's crazy to see something so banal to become a complex show about empowerment, feminism - very close to certain Ghibli movies. _________________________________________________________ I actually think the sets hurt the movie as well: I never understood why TLG made certain sets for the movies. Most vehicles were wacky and weird and didnt' need to be released as actual sets. You can admire Zanes or Coles vehicles - but they are simply super absurd, oversized and not very useful things for kids. Except for Lloyds dragon and Nyas thing (the latter was horrible) ALL ninja vehicles were not very attractive for the market. Expensive, big, not doing much other than looking good. Of course they were great designs and cheap in comparission. But kids don't care. If its expensive, it better be something famous - like the Millenium Falcon. And it better should do many things. If you get Zanes, Jays or Coles vehicles - they cannt do more than a small fighter ship: stud shooters and seat for 1 character. Also minifigures were quite bland. For such a big movie, certain characters could have gotten secondary ninja outfits. This was the case for TLBM as well. I loved the sets but in my country the first wave was already a flop. Unfortunate, but the reality.

I can imagine the only reasons for this are budget cuts. As Ninjago was, we would have gotten probably 2 episodes before they even arrive on the island. I hope we get a full season next time around. I feel like they just cut back more and more with the series... When it was anounced, that episodes will only be 10 minutes long, they told us we'd get more content overall. But since then the seasons just became shorter. If next season isnt at least 10+ episodes, then this is very bad news for the future of (at least) the series... -

Interesting, I almost did the same. Due to looks from outside and stability, I put the main chair back to its original position but the seats in the back have the same positioning.- 110 replies

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think my first post here: I just got the magazine with Palpatine. Really cool - I get the figure (never came in cheap set except for the Vaders transformation), the new hood piece - I think not available under 100 bucks and a soft cape. In person the hood looks even worse on him. But easy to swap and perfect for other figures. -

Sometimes there are noticable differences between show and set design - but again we have to wait until we get proper pictures and even then its not the same as seeing the figure in hand. Nya here looks like she has her typical colour scheme. -

Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
We have to see if Ninjago will even continue after s15 or the years after (though anything else wouldnt make much sense to me business-wise). But I think the best way to go would be spin-off shows. Like send 1-2 of the main cast, a few side characters and new characters to a different world. I always imagined Lloyd and Faith going to some european-medevil realm. The problem is though I think, that they would need a creative idea to really last longer than a few years. Something that is flexible, like Ninjago but different enough (which is hard cause Ninjago is everything other then City and SW right now). But with a spin-off at least, it would be less risky than with a completely new theme. Im sorry. Due to lack of money I almost don't get any sets anymore - with magazines alone I can collect like 85% of the figures I wanted. They will also bring out one with the new ghost - as the pieces were not available for bricks and pieces. Speaking of which: has anyone else noticed? Before I could get most minifigure parts from there as well but that seems to have changed. Now even hats and hair pieces are not available while leg pieces aren't even shown most of the time. -

oh, dont give me any ideas for fanfiction OK: one Power Miners option would be earthquakes and the Ninja investigating this. Another one would be meteorites attacking the planet and the ninja are being sent to investigate. I still hope next season doesnt end the show but ends with a flooded City which could bring us into a Waterworld-pirate season. Gosh, theres just so much potential... -

Yep. It's crazy - from the Hunted season, I got every figure with just 3 sets - and magazines. Sometimes now I see magazine-packs in stores (2-3 magazine blind bags for the price of one) - last week I got one with several rare figures dating back to waves like Skybound and Day of the departed. Great way to get figures you missed out on. About the kid: if he's not spamming the thread again, is it really an issue? If he posts 3-4 comments we dont have to police him out of here but can ignore or redirect him friendly. It's not like the majority (myself included) here wasnt off topic before. And looking in the other threads, theres so many on-topic hate comments... Who knows whats behind his behaviour. -

Cann't we let the kid be? If its an issue, call a mod. I guess he's looking for a place to talk about Lego and he cannt harm a thread by putting some comments. -
Again, I dont know whats up with MK as a theme - some folks said its cheaper in Asia instead, so maybe there's some kind of tax in order to make them cheaper there. But Overall worldwide its not more expensive than SW, Marvel or City - the current wave for sure has improved pricing. I think the issue is many people in the beginning expected it to have a low pricing similar to other inhouse themes like Ninjago. And we know what happens when fandoms expectations aren't met. Lego is simply expensive; Im sorry for all who have to save up. But it was also expensive many years ago. Seeing how much the builds developled, the hundreds of new parts and everything plus inflation - I could not complain. Im not saying theres not advantages to old builds and wrong choices by Lego. But can you show me more than 15 builds before 2012, that hold up to todays aestetic and stability standards? Or what about minifigure quality? And even if, there is retails or simply the choice to not buy it/or to get knockoffs instead. As Im not overly interested, I will not get any Monkey Kid sets at this price range (as there is also no retail for them). But it doesnt make the theme or Lego bad. They are a private company within capitalism. I would have issues with a fall in quality but also then.

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ninjago is always great with this. With SW I couldnt even start to dream about getting figutes without purchasing most sets. Also, except for Unagami and Saphira we were able to get many of the past main villains via magazine gifts - Iron Baron, Ice emperor, this month the skull sorcerer, before Garmadon.. The season 11 Nya was only in the expensive Land bounty set - but appeared in a cheap magazine. -
I stand corrected: I thought the flower fruit mountain set was 190 bucks - but it has 1950 pieces and is sold for 170 bucks. Bounty: It's not just about the size but about also the quality. Compare it to the "final flight of the Destinys bounty", which was 130 bucks for less than 1300 pieces. But it had a large mass and a not so small dragon + 8 figures. It's a great set and despite a lower piece count, I think it was a great deal and play value. However, the "smaller" Bounty from last year is thicker and more "complete", more detailed. It has an interior and can stand next to any UCS set. I still modded it quite a bit but no comparison to how much I had to modify the former show Bounty, which looked a bit like they ran out of pieces. In adition: I dont know how it is where you guys and gals live, but here Ninjago sets are ALWAYS like 30% less. I got the Bounty shortly after release for like 90 bucks. Any sets which are only sold on Lego.com will not change price. Again not to complain; both sets a re amazing and good deals. Also the Flower fruit mountain I would have been fine with 190 - seeing that its actually 170, it comes quite close to Ninjago deals. Seeing also how it is a different theme and how that makes it more special in a way (like the inclusion of those awesome monkeys instead of getting geat figures but still repeats) it makes it a really tempting good deal I think.

Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
People are forgetting also that they did space in season 3 already. And alien bugs . -
I dont understand the comparision: all the Bounties have a much higher piece count and would have been way more expensive in any other theme (Bounty also had many figures, pig hull pieces, sails). If the flower-fruit-mountain set were from Ninjago, it would not be over 150 bucks; probably under. But yeah, comparing to the other MK sets the mountain set is a better deal I think. I was actually tempted, while "instinct purchases" for the other sets all were out of the question immediately, due to the price. But also there no judgement from me. I assume these sets are cheaper for their target group in China and Lego simply makes them available to us for some kind of extra tax. That's not ideal but much better than not selling them worldwide at all. I prefer to at least have the option to get everything that is out there - like these comic-con builds.

space, every single one of the many realms they didn't visit yet, any of the realms they did already visit (the one from hunted for example), underground but in a different setting, .... They took inspiration even from Mad Max Fury road. They could also use other material for inspiration. From Akira to Hero (with Jet Li) to many other anime and Kurosawa movies. The point is only to do it well. I never expect much from the "shorter" seasons* - I didnt even really like March of the Oni that much. I think "Hunted" was the peak and from there the quality went down drastically. Last seasons were still quite good (especially considering this is a toy commercial for robo-ninjas that can spin really fast) but if you cut the budget so much there will be many scars. Im happy if they keep that quality - if it decreases more, of course that'lll be yet another loss. It's a bit like "Star Wars the Clone Wars" situation. Some people with a vision put way more money into the product, then was necessary or even profitable. As we live in capitalism, these things will never last. *in hindsight though, I must say that day of the departed was really good, for being so short. But yes, ninjago always lived from its long build ups and side quests with aditional developements. -

I dont know if children can even comprehend this TV show. Why should Lego make sets based on it? On another note, I like what they did with the other Marvel sets. Also with the Eternals sets the quality of builds is much higher than usual. On the dragon I see a high usage of smooth and round pieces on sides and the bottom. -

We'll see. But the sets looked pretty final (sticker details on submarines, printed head of Nyas dragon). Other preliminaries where sets changed drastically - like last years Bounty or Jays elemental dragon - it was clearly visible how unfinished the sets looked. I would love to see those concepts somehow though! on another note: some Marvel set just leaked - it seems they tap in the eastern-asian market as well now. Looks pretty smooth! Like the designer worked on Elves sets before. -

..and it's a very interesting argument which we all have in a very polite manner - I just wanted to point out this positive thing. Different opinions, getting offtopic for pages and it's all nice and civilized. So thank you for sharing your interesting and insightful opinion ! ...in any case: We will have to see how the sets look with better pictures, which is different to looking at them in a video, which is different from having built and holding it in your own hand. I am most curious for the Sub-Bounty. I have made myself a promise to only spend below 200 bucks per year (which goes fast if you count CMF's), IF there is a ship comming out. Now depending on how it'll look; I could pretend it's a kind of Nautilus - and bend my promise like that . I also like the change in colour. I hope we will get some kind of ship or bigger thing in the future, that is not typically dark red-red-black-gold. I have the last 3 bounties - if they dont discontinue Ninjago, I wonder what similar builds they could do. Jay pirate ship anyone?
