  1. I was not sure where to post this bit of news, couldn't find a book discussion thread. Since books are a medium, I thought I should post it here. Mods, feel free to move this to the appropriate forum or topic if necessary. So, I found these two new books on Dutch web shop www.bol.com, just wanted to let you guys know about them. Both will come out in the beginning of October, according to the website. 365 Things to Do with LEGO Bricks (DK) Quote 365 Things to do with LEGO® Bricks inspires you to look at your LEGO bricks in new and exciting ways and enjoy LEGO fun every day of the year. Featuring imaginative play and building ideas, from LEGO games that take just a few minutes and require a handful of bricks, to inspirational build ideas and activities to keep you occupied for hours. 365 Things to do with LEGO® Bricks is packed with fun and quirky activities, such as: build your own LEGO pet; challenge your friends to make the tallest LEGO tower against the clock; and learn how to make a stop-motion LEGO movie. 365 Things to do with LEGO® Bricks includes a countdown timer and activity selector, allowing you to choose an activity at random, to time your activities and to race against the clock. Packed with 365 LEGO activities you'll be inspired all year round. ©2016 The LEGO Group. Produced by Dorling Kindersley under licence from the LEGO Group. https://www.bol.com/...00000057593853/ Especially the countdown timer is an interesting concept! LEGO, The Book of Everything (Scolastic) Quote The newest book in the LEGO Nonfiction line, The Book of Everything, takes on the biggest subject of all: our world and everything in it! There's a whole world of information inside on almost every subject under the sun, from science to technology, from history to geography to popular culture. Each spread contains a LEGO scene to facilitate the learning journey: a vignette, mini story, or icon featuring LEGO models, characters, and sensibility. Graphic design combines the LEGO illustration with real-world photography and facts for an immersive experience. The Book of Everything arrives just in time for the holiday season, https://www.bol.com/...00000060420781/
  2. So I stumbled upon this topic, just posting this so I can follow it! I do have a meme, I made it as a response to the speculation on how the King's Guard promo would be available:
  3. https://www.brickwat...e/77/DIMENSIONS Some fantastic discounts on the Starter packs, the cheapest being the Playstation 3 one, only €39.96! EDIT: Courtesy of The Brick Fan: http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-dimensions-sonic-the-hedgehog-level-pack-71244-revealed/ I think the Sonic figure came out quite alright and I love the little car in this pack. It's hard to accept the yellow lifebuoy as a golden ring, though.. Simply recolouring it in pearl gold would make it a lot better.
  4. https://www.brickwatch.net/en-NL/sets/theme/51/Minecraft Seems like now is the time to get the sets, pretty insane price drops!
  5. Brickwatch does not have it listed, so I think the only way is to import it from somewhere outside the EU, probably from the States.
  6. I have a feeling that this thread is a little redundant...

  8. TLG is not discontinuing castles(-like structures). Think of the Jestro's Volcano Lair, Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle, Skyra's Mysterious Sky Castle, the Angry Birds Castle you mentioned and let us absolutely not forget the recently revealed 71040: Disney Castle! These are all unorthodox in style and colour scheme, but all of them are castle-like structures you are speaking of! Moreover, your claim that "merging castles and spaceships is destroying the last thing that LEGO has always been about" is rather bold and biased by your field of interest, imho. That said, I do hope that NK produces more structure-based sets next waves, I'd really like to see an underwater fortress, forest watchtowers and secret hideouts, that kind of stuff. Even better: heraldry on the bad guys' armour. Btw, I think having so little "regular" castle could be a strategy to get the AFOL audience craving for it, so that when it is released, they are willing to buy a lot more than usual. (even though AFOLs are not the target audience) Just a theory.
  9. Once again, that dragon is really nice! Now that I had a closer look at it, I noticed the 'ball joint-pin hinge' connection technique that you used for limb articulation, I think that's very clever! The dragon head with the different spikes works out very well, love the plume piece on his chin. Nice wall structure, cool battle scene with the dragon on the roof! Zotharith might have the answer to that: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127961
  10. The decoration on the walls is unusual, refreshing, and the tower complements the other part of the armoury perfectly, with it's warm colours. Nice paving and minifig activity as well. The tall base makes the whole thing look even more delicate; an adorable piece, John!
  11. Those are some awesome creations! In times of slow news, it's more acceptable, but prefereably it should have to add something to the set discussion in some way, I think.
  12. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it as well! Too bad that he can't say anything about next season, but that was as expected.
  13. Wow, certainly a great deal! Btw, I hope to upload a Saga episode/freebuild soon (just before going on holiday). :)
  14. Ooh, the moon cycle, that makes more sense!
  15. Cool fig, I like the hair and the derpy face, the minibuild is pretty insane!
  16. Now I feel the need to create a Nexo knights sigfig, thank you! Here's a few things that I've done in the NEXO genre so far: Crown Knight Clay NEXO-Emmet NEXO-Chima I really hope to get the new helmet in black as well, for a full-sized black knight. Btw, has anyone put the Ultimate Lance visor on a transparent helmet (from Spyrius) yet?
  17. It's too bad I can't read the Ninjago alphabet(?). Next to Pythor, on the page hidden behind Wu, is Samukai, so he will probably return. From you have an interesting page, showing what I think could be the history of Ninjago in five different stages. Other than that, the ninja are doing random things in the background, but nothing too special as far as I can tell.
  18. Looks cool! Also, I believe we haven't seen that hairpiece in that colour before, correct?
  19. Some fantastic pieces of advice have been given above, I'd like to add a couple of things: If you really need a deadline, you could participate in contests, or plan events where you are going to display your models. It may also help to build smaller, so you can build it within the span of your motivation/creative energy. It's also easier for keeping an overview of the how the model will fit together in the end. Try to build modules that will fit together later (instead of working your way from one point), it may help you to fill the difficult gaps between them. Build your model in LDD first, maybe? (doesn't help for me, but who knows!) Start a WIP thread on EB for boost of motivation and confidence. Try to finish older projects first before starting new ones. If you get a spark of inspiration, you don't have to build it physically right away, LDD or simply a sketch of your idea are material to work on, later! I hope all of us can help you finish your eternal WIPs! Happy building!
  20. Wow, that's a fantastic collection of builds on display there! Also, it's nice to see appreciation for your work from a different corner of society, the interview puts "The AFOL" in a positive light. Thanks for sharing!
  21. I really hope it's not minifigures only, even if I'm probably not getting any of the sets. As a kid, I missed out the Sports and Extreme Stunts sets, but when I saw them in older catalogs, I really wanted them. Bring back the halfpipes, the ski ramps, the basketball and the (ice?)hockey fields!!
  22. No, certainly not! Like dragon-human hybrids with a larger version of the Gargoyle wings, dragon scale samurai armour and huge weapons! And a full-sized evil dragon, of course ridden by the Emperor of Dragons, from the Dragon Realm... For clarity: I'm making that up, but man.... I'd love that!
  23. I don't get what you're trying to say? Those are very obviously fakes.
