Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Oh, my bad! I thought it was exclusive to the Joker Mansion, along with the trans green version of that part (which is not listed on B&P). -
LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion

It is unlikely that it retires any time (year) soon, so technically there's no reason to rush a purchase. Maybe check with your LUG, or see if you can obtain a discount as a reward for displaying your moc at a LEGO store (not entirely sure if that's how it works), before you buy it at full price. Or wait for double VIP with an attractive gift-with-purchase deal. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Exetrius replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Definitely Spring Yellowish Green (https://brickset.com/parts/colour-Spring-Yellowish-Green), so neither translucent, nor glow in the dark. Btw, there used to be a colour that was both translucent and glow in the dark: Phosphorescent Green (https://brickset.com/parts/colour-Phosphorescent-Green). As a non-fleshie, non-Batman fan, there are still many items to like. Recoloured flames and lightning bolts, aw yeah! I'll try to pick up Jor-El, Soccer Mom Batgirl (just a superb fig!), Hugo Strange and Tropical Joker. Swimming Pool Batman is great for getting the dolphin, great value for money. -

[Lay-Out] Castle at Brickmania Antwerp 2017
Exetrius replied to TitusV's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Cool, a thread! Speaking of dedication, @TitusV, thanks for gathering the pics and providing them with some quality context! @Faladrin, I'm thankful for your sharp images! The ones I took were so vague that they could pass for impressionist paintings... Thanks to all of you for being such great company! Btw, I expect to be posting white-background pics of my build in GoH before the end of the year, so spare your comments! @swords Glad you joined, man! Welcome! -

LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion
Exetrius replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well, I have seen a few €200+ sets (i.e. Classic TV Series Batcave) in a "LEGO Superstore", an extension of an ordinary retail store, so I would not rule out the possibility that NC appears there as well one day. The chances of finding it on discount, though... Your best bet on getting a discount is with VIP-point events, or AFOL-related purchase events. -
"black sensei" did sound very promising to me. Last time that happened was in Ninjago's very first year, Wu! Then I checked out the image... As a fig, it's quite cool, but the Wu Cru logo renders it pretty much useless in non-Ninjago context. Any other existing logo associated with the ninja would have been better! Speaking of which, I'm really starting to miss the original signature symbols. Large pics for reference: In my opinion, both the animalistic symbols and the character-like symbols of (for example) the Zukin suits look much better than the movie symbols. The character-like symbols all feature at least one horizontal and one vertical stroke, and are approximately of the same 'visual weight'. All of them are in gold (Zane is an exception to the rule). Compare that to the inconsistent mess that is the movie symbols: some only have straight strokes, others are mostly round, one is triangular, some look significantly more complex than others and there are no less than three different colours! In short: I hope the original signature symbols will be coming back after SoG.

Thank you very much! I have seen many great post-apocalypic/cyberpunk MOCs, so I wanted to build something in that genre myself.

You have made good efforts with the texturing of the wall outside, good roof, too! I agree with Henjin on the landscape: settle with a simpler colour palette. For the inside, I appreciate that you added an interior wall. The floor leaves all studs exposed and the furniture may be a bit too basic, so there's room for improvement. Expressive minifig posing, though, good work!
-
Agreed, the structural supports for the roof are well done! By the looks of it they are not only there for the show (seen that often), but are connected at all points to provide actual sturdiness! Cheese-sloped window frame adds some extra detail to the interior and the bones underground give the base something interesting to look at as well.

And the "Idea of the Year" Award goes to.... these two fantastic gentlemen: @Henjin_Quilones and @TitusV! Still need to read through the entire thing, but no doubt that it will be good!

The brown female's hair is new, certainly! The one on the bearded male is the same as Bruce Wayne's. Btw, I would personally consider the grey thing with african mask a hat-hair combo.

WCS Communication Tower Background Two decades ago, the West Coast State Communication Tower was abandoned. Due to technological advances coupled with drastic population decrease, it was no longer economically viable to keep it operational. Maintenance stopped at once and the tower was left to ruin. However, after twenty years of desertification, tropical storms and physical weathering, the WCS Communication Tower is returning from retirement! A small team is working hard to repair the damage and get the systems working again. Inspecting the receiver and transmitters. Features The build is 120 cm tall (antenna included). The elevator platform can be brought up and down by hand. Its 'claws' can be adjusted for extra grip, so that the platform holds itself at any place along the rail, or for free movement, to enable motorization. The antenna can be pulled out, which allows the square roof section to be removed. Builder's notes Building something this tall has been a childhood dream come true! I've tried doing this before, but never succeeded due to structural instability. The train track technique solves that. Not only is it sturdy and fairly lightweight, it is also easy to modify and expand. Perhaps my second favorite technique in this build is in the claws of the elevator. Each claw has a pair of minifigure ice skates, which slide through the 1x2 grille plates. The floor and the roof were the most challenging parts of the build, being partly rectangular and triangular at the same time, and I tried to make as little compromises on interior, sturdiness and accessibility as possible. I will think twice before doing another triagonal/hexagonal build, without having nexogons or other studded geometric facilitators! Thank you for looking! Comments, suggestions and criticism very much appreciated!

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Exetrius replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
New colours are always exciting! I'm sure Teal (aka Turquoise, Bright Bluish Green, Rock Raiders Green ) can be integrated in (fantasy) castle in the form of banners or glazed roof tiles (like Rivendell). That dragon head is bloody amazing!!! Love the use of parts and choice of colours! The rest of the thing is pretty underwhelming though, but is much easier to improve than the head would be. And then about the classic tribute set... Microbuilds, boo! We can MOC that ourselves, with existing parts. -
Ah well.. I own enough old-school Ninjago faces to swap into the new variants. The movie hairpieces are cool, so I wouldn't mind seeing those in regular Ninjago. You raise a good point. Of course, there are many shows where the main characters do not age. However, a more mature appearance of the ninja would certainly be justified, considering the amount of character development in the show. If you think about it, almost all LEGO themes are full of adults (firefighters, agents, dino hunters, etc) and kids are able to relate with these heroes. So why would they not let the ninja develop into adults, instead of rebooting them to a less mature state?

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Exetrius replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Just bringing your post in the spotlight again! 1. I'm not sure, I believe Ecclesiastes came up with the Algus. His parts of the lore surrounding the Algus is treated 100% canon. Other contributions to the lore may be much less accepted. As far as I remember, Ecc never introduced a clear leader. 2. I think it's a matter of trying out and see if people accept it. In the end, the Guild leaders are the ones who could (theoretically) canonize your brick-built interpretations 3.The Guild leaders: @ZCerberus (Nocturnus) @Ecclesiastes (Mitguardia) @SkaForHire (Kaliphlin) @Rogue Angel (Avalonia). You could send them a personal message (PM). 4. 5. No idea, sorry! As always, please correct me if I'm wrong! -

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

There are two new large castle elements in Disney Princess sets: a conical tower roof and a 'wall with arch' segment (any architectural term for this?): There will also be new plant-like elements! 1x1 studs with three leaves, 1x1 studs where the regular ring has dents, and flowers with a bar end. The mining subtheme from City will introduce the 2017 spider mould in white, as well as and golden nuggets, which I'd love to see in the form of crystals! -
It's official now, a TRON set it will be! However, such a shame about Quest Builder!

Ah, that's quite neat actually! Bought it for 30 cents, just because it looks so plain to the point that it's funny. Thanks!
