Where should the next People at the ____ take place?
Exetrius replied to legoman19892's topic in LEGO Town
My goodness, the jokes in this thread! Hmm, let's see... Fun at the church Fun in prison Fun at the coffee shop Fun at the red light district! Jokes aside, I really like @Aanchir's idea of the Rock concert/Music festival. My interested in contemporary stuff like City is rather limited, but music-related things are a clear exception. Definitely needs a guitarist (soft-rock), a drummer, a food vendor (one that walks around), a techno DJ and some fans, of which one has to be sitting on someone else's shoulders . Fun at the Circus would be cool, with a firebreather, magician, unicycle or tall-bicyclist, and a few small and non-controversial animals indeed. Fun in the snow/ at the Ski resort seems inevitable at some point, but I'd personally not be interested. Oh, and I'm all for cross-theme editions like Fun in Space or Fun at the Castle (we need Fun in the Village!!), though I think those would be much less likely to happen. I'd propose Fun at the Pier/Boulevard, which would be a good intermediate between Fun at the Beach and the Old Fishing Store. I imagine it would include a roller skater, skateboarder, runner, juices seller, dune buggy (with surfers heading for the beach) and some regular happy folk strolling around. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

I received my order today! Lootshot, as promised: -
That just made me more excited than the actual second trailer did!

Let's apply this concept to builders: some of them are talented, trained, both, or neither. What we all have in common is that we like LEGO to a greater or lesser extent, thus regardless of our level of skill we shall build with bricks. LEGO Ideas is not a beauty contest, and from a markting perspective "it's childish" isn't a good argument.

Next year brings at least three different dark blue raptors: two variants of adult raptors and a baby raptor. They appear in The LEGO Movie 2 sets. A new bird mould will be introduced in a Princess Jasmina set. It has 'regular' eyes instead of friends-style ones, which I think is great, more versatile.

So, I just came to check what the fuss around here is all about.. About the Wonders of Peru project: it instantly caught my attention and I simply get good vibes from the vibrant colours. And those minifigure designs are really neat! I think I read something along the lines of 'it lacks complexity'.. the lego Classic boxes lack complexity too. But those do make certain people happy, so no doubt that also for WoP there will be many happy fans. I personally wouldn't buy it because I expect it would be a very expensive box. Ideas sets are (relatively) expensive for me in general, honestly. Just my thoughts.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

So friends ditched the minidoll style for animals? I'm not sure what happened there, but I'm thankful! Very welcome addition to moulded animals family. Oh, and I want one in nougat, dark tan and brown. Let's add some life and diversity to tranquil village squares. Btw, what species of bird is it actually, it seems deliberately generic? A white dove, however those don't have yellow beaks... -
I'll simply repeat: phenomenal hull! Not only the rust stripes and worn red paint look fantastic, but the overall shaping on the bow and stern is splendid, too! Moreover, you added (my maritime vocabulary fails me on this...) protruding spill gaps, cable gaps, and bars where the crane hooks can be hooked up! And much more to love: the angled chimney, the smoke, the rigging, the rusted ladder. Last but not least: the minifigure activity. Excellent! Sunbathing on the roof, playing cards, the captain having a casual conversation... the waters are calm, the sky clear; warm sun, slight breeze...

Cool tower, I particularly like the rounded wooden part (great blending of dark red!) and the use of tooth plates. The stud pole on the legt is a great detail! Nice texture for the stonework: good mix of studs, tiles, lbg and dbg. The terrain I think would benefit from some tiles as well; 100% studs is just a bit too much IMO. One more nitpick: the fact that neither the water, nor the pallisade stretch from border to border of your MOC, is undermining the idea that there is a continuous defence going around the tower. By the way, I thought you joined the Guilds already? Maybe I misremembered. Anyway, your builds would be very much welcome in Nocturnus (and the rest of GoH)!

@Aanchir I always appreciate your elaborate breakdowns of new stuff in this thread! Haven't spotted anything that you haven't mentioned. Love the two new shoulder pads and the weapon pack in gold. Cool arch! It is certainly an improvement over the current one, since there is more space to use. As you say, the spinner sets are full of nice accessories and some of the tornados themselves are neat for magic builds. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Exetrius replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I went through all of the 2018 sets (some older ones, too) and compiled everything that I was interested in. You can view it here: https://puu.sh/CcVN9/c2df34f463.pdf I'm not sure when B&P is closing, but it may still be of help. I placed my order last week, so hopefully I'll be sharing another loot shot before Christmas. -
Kaliphlin at Work - Day 14: Wahah Oasis
Exetrius replied to LittleJohn's topic in Guilds of Historica
I have to agree with the critiques above: the waterfall is not very convincing to be honest, due to missing context. I think it would look better if the cliff extended to the lower left and upper right corner to form more of a broad and curved rock wall. Your water foam below is well executed, but definitely too small for the the size of your waterfall; with that height and broadness, I feel the water must have more power than portrayed. The small tree on the edge of the waterfall is really neat, though, and so is the rest of the oasis. -
AoM House Phase 1: A Camping Trip [Flashback]
Exetrius replied to The Stad's topic in Guilds of Historica
Love the snow covering the tips of the leafs! Moreover, thanks to the technique you used, it even shows how they bow down under the weight of the snow. Cosy little camping spot, too! -
Massive respect for the great collaborative efforts that you all made! Makes me, as a rogue Nocturnian, very envious!

Wow man, that story! The premise of the religion is of course basic and not unlike other, real-world religions, but the way you illustrate it through Muakhah dialogue is very neat! It lends credibility to his wisdom. Incorporating Revolword, Raavage and the Nocturnians (mind the 'i' in there) is the icing on the cake. As for the build, I think the religious symbols are effective and detailed enough despite their simple construction. I'll be ordering that 2x2 tile just in case .

I agree with Henjin: the use of round round 1x1 elements is too much here. I don't know much about the details of architecture and the physics related to it, but I question the placement of these. A building made up of many arches and little wall should be extra strong in its pillars and particularly in the corners, I imagine. So why carve out so many cylindrical columns in that spot? Maybe it will decrease the structure's integrity; I'm not really sure where the limits are. Put differently, I think the separation of structural features and decorational features are out of balance. In my opinion, Mophets guard tower has a much better balance between these features. I'm looking forward to your progress!

Good to see you take on a particular landscape and colour scheme from an other member of your guild! Your different approach (round hut, non-human resident) makes it fresh. The entrance of the hut stands out, I imagine it's also the only sturdy part of the roof, judging by the hinges. The supply bags and pot are good details to liven up the ground, and I would suggest to add just a couple of stones in the the rest of the forest floor. They must have collected the cobbles for their wall from somewhere, right? Nice story, btw!

I've seen chess pieces really similar to the horse indeed, really good shaping there! Great colour choices and execution of the clothes, in particular the headscarf. And the furniture, tools and rubble make the profession of sculptor all the more vivid. If you hadn't pointed this out I wouldn't have noticed, but without it the whole image of muscular arms would be less striking, I reckon.

This build causes instant happiness! The colours, the awnings, the flowers and plants; love it! Nice use of the CMF flower costume there!

It's weird, it's refreshing, and most of all: it looks great! I always like builds that have a ton of little items to breath life into it, and this is no exception. Great use of the basket all the way at the top, it adds a lot of character! I agree, the light yellow (almost) steals the show! For constructive criticism's sake, I have one nitpick: the beret on the guy throws me off from the Kali vibe just a bit. That's it.

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Exetrius replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
A pink Classic Space torso (like the green one from the Exo Suit) has showed up on Instagram!! I bet it's from TLM2, so I wonder who will be wearing it. However, it also reminded me of that Ideas contest where you had to design a Space themed gift with purchase set.- 991 replies
