Awesome! My birthday is around then and I can't think of a better excuse to burn a Death Star sized hole in my pocket.
-
No. Your original question was "Of the UCS sets that exist, what is your ranking of their long term investment potential?". Either way, not suitable for this forum.
-
Future set releases yes. But that wasn't your question. I suggest you head over to brickpicker for advice/discussion on Lego "investing".
-
2. Wrong forum buddy.
-
Oh. My. God. Detail, size and accuracy on the outside is amazing but the fact that you've managed to pack so much in the interior is beyond belief!
-
This might be a debate in symantics but flagship generally refers to the top of the line. What then does the 'Ultimate' in Ultimate Collector Series stand for? Ultimate price? When you label it as such consumers have higher than normal expectations. Regardless of whether you already own most of the material in the set there are many significant flaws and shortcomings in this set that do not justify the price or the UCS label. This thing is $400 where I live. To put it into perspective the UCS Slave 1 is $299.

But it wears the UCS badge. As such, "being too busy" is no excuse for dropping the ball on a flagship set. If that is the case then it is very worrying signs for the company.

It will be interesting to see if the R3-A2 dome becomes available on Lego Bricks & Pieces when the set is released...I doubt it but stranger things have happened.
-
Rebels/resistance...same/same. A bit like mold vs mould really. But I see you're from the old country so I stand corrected
-
For the price I would have expected the snowspeeder pilot helmets to have molded visors like those in Poe's X-wing, not face printed ones which I'm assuming is a cost reduction measure. Bricklink prices for these minifigs will be reflected in the 'way too high' price of the set and the fact that many collectors will be chasing the minifigs only.

This says it all really. TLG send a review copy of a UCS set which is recommended for ages 12+ to reviewers on a YouTube channel who are clearly younger. The phrase "Stay on Target" springs to mind

A very nice detailed review Sariel, thank you! I like the "Wampa" It also looks like you had way too much fun destroying the shield generator, which looked very cool in slow motion by the way. But I think this pretty much confirms the fears of many here. Regardless of the UCS playset vs display debate they have cut so many corners here it beggars belief. Half finished models with ugly backsides, BURPs, exposed technic (& technicolor) pieces and vignettes that are represented by too few elements. I mean really, why couldn't the shield generator have the correct number of fins! And why put a place for a minifig in the ion cannon if the canopy won't close? The minifigs would seem a big draw here for collectors but why do the rebel pilots not have the new helmets with molded visors? And why do most of the rebel soldiers have an almost serene expression on their face as opposed to the ubiquitous angry clone face on the snowtroopers? Maybe the snowtroopers know their fate is sealed in this lopsided "assault"!
-
Lol. One could play with it if it had some semblance of an imperial "assault" force...which it doesn't.
-
Marshmallows or the melted remnants of his traitorous friend FN-2187's helmet? Nice vignette, I like it.

This was discussed at great length several pages back but hey it's fun to speculate. Personally I'm hoping it will have a full outer shell that can open up (either by removable panels or hinged) to reveal a highly detailed interior with updated minifigs. Sadly, at the level I would like to see the cost would probably restrict sales. Still, I think it's time TLG paid a bit of fan service and released another iconic "hero" set that every SW fan covets. The UCS Death Star has the potential to be that set. I suspect it will need to blow us away after the debacle that is "UCS" Assault on Hoth. Watch for the pitchforks if they just re-release the Death Star with updated minifigs. Hopefully TLG have learnt a thing or two after the public backlash over the re-release of the seasonal Santa's workshop.

Th one Forresto referred to is here, it's a nice mod. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=121860&st=0

Well that sucks. I can't believe they are doing it again, this time in a more expensive set. I liken it to Luke without a lightsaber. They even included one with the Sandcrawler before Luke had one! For your sake I hope they do another production run of Sabine's helmet.

If 75150 Tie Advanced vs A-wing has Sabine's helmet then I would expect it could become available later this year after the summer set releases. Having said that I couldn't see the helmet in the pictures I've seen but surely they wouldn't do that again!?

How long before the Sept. release last year was it that we got leaked final box art images of Kylo Ren's shuttle? It seemed like ~ 6 months of endless debate about the wings. I would be surprised if the sets weren't finalised by now. That's not to say the image we have seen of the RO minifigs are the final design though, being official and all.

[MOD] Jabba's Sail Barge 75020/6210 The Best of Both Worlds
Markalus replied to carnage717's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nice MOD! Funnily enough I'm building 6210 right now. Its such a great set, particularly for its age. In this case I don't think covering the sides with tiles will improve the look, IMO the smooth to stud ratio is just fine. -
^Exactly! Thank you. All the Rey/Jyn bashing here is getting very boring.
-
You left out Palpatine and the royal guards.
-
I bought a used bricklinked one so probably custom chrome pieces and stickers. It's a pristine copy though and I can't tell the difference so I'm blissfully ignorant. The price for a boxed new one is crazy money!

10026 UCS Naboo Starfighter. My first, and probably last, prequel trilogy set. I'm a sucker for chrome Its so pretty and doesn't take up anywhere near the space of all the other UCS sets!
