JANGBRICKS has done a modded version in black and it looks much more movie accurate, and menacing, as I've suggested previously. Hopefully TLG will use the benefit of hindsight and make an improved version soon. With the amount of detail on the bulkhead/fuselage and wing edges it's begging to get the UCS treatment.

75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion
Markalus replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Licensed
January 1st is literally the worst date for D2C releases. The Lego S@H website broke this year when the Star Wars Slave 1 and Detectives Office modular were simultaneously released on Jan 1 and it wasn't fixed for days. I expect it will do the same this time around with the Jan 1 release of Ghostbusters HQ and Brick Bank, two highly anticipated sets. -

Mos Eisley Cantina has the tag retiring soon on the Australian Lego S@H and is sold out. Red five X-wing does not have the tag retiring soon but comes up as one of 16 Star Wars sets if you use the retiring soon search filter. -
I would be very surprised if we only see one SW UCS set in 2016, and a playset at that. Particularly with all the hype surrounding TFA, future movies and the exponential growth in Lego popularity, especially amongst AFOLs.

I'm pretty sure they were both released on Jan 1 last year.

The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
Markalus replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I actually am colour blind, like the other 12% or so of the general male population. When did the colour of the MF become a 2015 rumour? Just curious...- 125 replies

The Slave 1 is a gorgeous display piece, particularly on its stand. Both are iconic but I guess it depends which vehicle speaks to you more. The majority will likely say Slave 1. If playability is not a factor in your buying decision then I think the decision becomes more clear. -
Lego BB-8 is way smaller than I expected. It's probably more in scale to humanoid minifigs than say R2-D2.

Poe's X-wing is still widely available in retail stores here in Australia. The canopy on mine is fine, there is maybe a 0.5 mm gap if I'm being super critical but I've certainly had a lot worse with Lego hinged pieces. It's a great element though so I can see why people would not be happy if theirs are faulty.

Wow Cecilie,You've outdone yourself this time. There are so many highlights but I especially love the mini version of the fallen AT-AT and the Falcon hub leading to different 'worlds' is genius. I also love Poe's X-wing, you've captured all the necessary detail and color scheme perfectly and I'm betting there are no issues with that cockpit canopy ; ) Good luck with the final but just quietly I don't think you'll need it.
-
That is bizarre! I can't believe they would cancel an order, rather than delay a newly released set. Maybe huge demand means production is already allocated to retail in the near future? I think Lego are entering unchartered waters in terms of demand with the upcoming release of TFA. It's a worrying sign though because it will be a perfect storm for opportunistic EBay flippers in the lead up to holiday season.

It's a thing of beauty and solid design that's for sure. The only thing I wish they could have done better is use grey or even black rubber bands for the wing mechanism. The blue stands out like a sore thumb. And even though I do like the slick black/orange color scheme I suspect the colors will look a lot more muted in the film, particularly if you look at the Hasbro model of it. Not that Lego have those colors in their inventory.

Just went to the Toys R Us and Target midnight openings in Melbourne, Australia. What a complete farce. Toys R Us had no TFA Lego, that's right, zero stock. Target had Rey's Speeder, The Falcon and Tie but not the others. Not surprisingly scalpers were filling trolleys with these and leaving the new constraction figures. I hope the rest of the world fairs better because it was a complete waste of time down here! Good luck!

As a Australian I personally apologise for the Australian unboxing event of those ridiculous looking 'make up your own' lightsabers. Everything about it was bad; the toy, the poorly lit stage against the overexposed backdrop of the Harbour Bridge/Opera House, the bored kids who didn't know what to make of it and Jay Laga'aia.
-
I hope this is the case but I doubt it. Hype will fuel demand on a scale we have never seen before. Scalpers will buy up a lot of the stock knowing that desperate parents will pay $$$ to get little Tommy his shiny black x-wing for Xmas. The timing of TFA's release is a perfect sh!tstorm for panicked Xmas buying. I suspect stock availability will be patchy at best. Anecdotal evidence from a an employee at a large local retailer here suggests they expect to sell out of their current stock overnight. As I said, I hope I'm wrong.

Well spotted. To be fair I don't think TLG designed it for motorized function though. The movement, particularly on that surface, is quite jerky.
-
Lego will replace that no problem. I'm pretty sure WALL-E had a lot more scratches than that though ; )
-
I haven't used Power Functions either but it looks pretty straight forward to me in the video. It shows the parts needed and where they go. The main problem is the cost. I priced the two M motors, IR receiver, remote control and battery box and it came to ~$108 Australian dollars (WALL-E is $70 AUD)...ouch! I still think it's worth it though : )
-
The hard plastic treads that Lego uses are always going to be a problem on a slippery surface. The power function mod might help with traction though, adding extra weight and lowering WALL-E's centre of gravity. At least that will be my excuse ; ) Nice mod and thanks for the tutorial! It will be interesting to see if TLG come up with a similar solution, if they officially admit it's a problem at all.
-
What are the three quality issues you are referring to? I'm only aware of the perceived head stability/lack of clutch power issue.
-
So who else plans to do this relatively easy mod? So awesome : )

Beautiful work! You can see the Corellian inspiration in the design. I love the colors, SNOT work, interior, quad laser cannon and those droids : )
