  1. A detailed interior would either significantly increase the part count (& cost) or reduce the overall size and keep the part count relatively the same. Although a detailed interior would be cool, I wouldn't mind if they released a near replica of the orginal either, $500-$700 USD is better than $5000 USD. When it's on display who sees the interior anyway? And 10179 is not exactly a playset.
  2. Exactly this ^. Well said. It made me chuckle too.
  3. No. It looks awesome. I don't normally buy constraction figures either but I reckon this will move quickly from shelves.
  4. I don't know whether to laugh or be sad but "worth starving for I reckon" should be used by TLG for promotional purposes!
  5. They've improved the cockpit but other than that I'm not seeing the "much more detail than 10129" you speak of. Some more yes, but it's not too different to 10129 in that pic. Assuming there is ~500 pieces more (as suggested by earlier rumors) I suspect the majority of the extra pieces would be structural. Lego tend to concentrate on improving structural integrity these days and 10129 could certainty do with improvement in this area.
  6. I like your dedication.
  7. What!? Where? Vader's Tie vs. A-wing was not avail. in retail in Australia and Jabba's Palace and Barge have been retired for years. Nice pick-up.
  8. Do you mean Snowspeeder, not Landspeeder? The Snowspeeder is currently the only one with a set number (75144) on Brickset and was originally suppose to release last year. It is all but confirmed for an April release. The other two are still unsubstantiated rumours.
  9. This speculation is way past ridiculous. Have you even considered how much a 1:1 scale BB-8 would weigh considering TLG requirements for structural integrity?
  10. Exactly. And the "rumour" was we would see both this year with the Snowspeeder first so nothing has changed.
  11. I think it's just the light. If that's the case then all the others in the front row look metallic too, particularly Rey.
  12. I love the "Tie rack", nice pun. It even looks like it has a bow-Tie at the top.
  13. That is disappointing news!
  14. Awesome! May I ask where? Myer 40% of second toy deal?
  15. Costco now stock Lego in Oz? Man, I might have to rejoin!
  16. The Rogue One ships look fantastic...particularly Krennic's Shuttle. The minifigs for these sets are really good too.
  17. "When is the Death Star going to retire?" was the longest running joke in Star Wars Lego history. Now that TLG have announced "it's back" either they've got a sense of humour about it or their agenda is to destabilize the Lego reselling market. Either way, well played.
  18. I don't really have a problem with scalpers, flippers, resellers or whatever you want to call them. It means retired sets are still available. Its up to the individual to decide if the asking price is worth it to them. The cost associated with storing them is not insignificant. The only time I take issue with scalpers is when sets go on sale and they clean the shelves of all the desirable stock, leaving none for regular shoppers. This is a problem with stores not setting strict purchase limits, at least in my part of the world.
  19. I finally got around to building and photographing my modified version of 10019. It's designed to resemble Ahsoka Tano's Corellian Corvette, as seen in Star Wars Rebels. Picture 2 shows the Ghost docking with "Fulcrum". The colour changes were made for two reasons 1) to reduce cost and 2) to make it a little more unique. I'm pretty happy with it, particularly the port and starboard turbolaser cannons which are more rounded than the ones on the original 10019. I've put Clone Wars Ahsoka for size comparison (I don't have the Rebels version of her yet) but the model is huge!
  20. "Sold Out" is common on Lego S@H. It probably just means stock of the current production run is out in your region. No way they would retire it so early unless it was a poor seller, which I highly doubt. The tendancy is for longer life cycles these days.
  21. Good point. It still won't make it on piece count alone though.
  22. It's not a matter of if but 'when' they re-release an updated 10179. They would not be afraid on price either, just look at recent price hikes and the number of large sets that are being released. The whole notion of 10179 not selling well is out of context. The Lego market is a much different place to where it was 9 years ago. It's way more popular now, both with kids and AFOLs. 10179 was released at the height of the GFC when disposable income was a dirty word. Hindsight and the current street value of 10179 will ensure an updated version will be an instant sales success, whatever the cost. In Australia, 10179 was $1000 rrp! I would imagine it could be a $1500 AUD set if released today, even though our dollar has firmed against the USD since 2007. It would be a no-brainer day one purchase for me. It's that iconic.
  23. Fiskum's UCS X34 Landspeeder reached the review stage on Lego ideas. It would be great to see it as an official Ideas set in 2017, and possibly appease those who feel cheated by the most recent UCS slots taken up by Hoth and a mildly updated Death Star. Unfortunately it's not likely to happen though given the recent changes to Ideas guidelines i.e. No large piece count sets and no existing licences.
  24. You may be crazy for using the term "MB" on here but I think the 'dollhouse' design is probably closer to what a lot of people were hoping for. It must put an enormous strain on those hinges though! For that reason alone I can't see TLG doing something similar for the DS...it wouldn't pass their durability criteria.
  25. I may have missed it but has the new UCS Death Star been revealed? Or all the comments above based on speculation?
