I'm gonna be honest, I'm warming up to the colour choice on the world map, and having an 11k-piece set as a long term "sit down and relax" project sounds nice, but that CAD price tag puts this set on the "no" list for me at the moment. When looking at an expensive set, I sometimes justify the price tag by thinking that at least it's about on par with the USD price after conversion, so us Canadians aren't getting the raw end of the deal. I have no idea how early TLG determines prices for upcoming sets, but seeing as the USD to CAD exchange rate has been falling steadily from 1.44 to 1.21 over the past year or so, perhaps it makes sense that sets whose price was set months ago now seem disproportionately expensive. Price discussion aside, I do find that the colour choice makes the set seem more artsy. I'm glad it's not the educational blue ocean and pastel countries look, but I wish we could have seen a satellite-view, real-life colours version.

I hope it's a swing ride, but different from the one in the box art of the Roller Coaster. Something like this would be amazing: I might see TLG pull it off at a 100 euro price point, thought it may look a little tiny when compared to the other fairground sets.

I removed all of the tiles with studs on the edges and replaced them with normal plates. I also removed all of the texturing of the original model to end up with an entirely studded, leveled surface for the hull. After that I started stacking a bunch of tiles and wedge plates on top of the 'naked' hull.

Hey, everyone. I don't know if I'm misremembering things, but did someone make a modification to the display stand to have the shuttle tilted sideways? I'm looking for it online but am only finding MODs and MOCs for rocket boosters and straight vertical stands...- 310 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Terrasher replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I know I'm in the minority because I've never bought a Marvel set but I don't mind repeats or inaccuracies in the minifigures. I just remember loving the silly Raimi trilogy so those classic villains are the ones I resonate most with. That being said, woah! The set is MASSIVE. Stonewars has photoshopped it next to the modular police station and I have to say that it doesn't look half bad. I was worried it would be too tall but, to be honest, it blends in quite nicely. I'm happy it's appealing from all sides and that there aren't any missing walls, so the floors that stick over the other buildings are not just blank brick walls. 400CAD stings, but for 3772 pieces and 25 minifigures, it's pretty much Marvel's Death Star. It's cheaper though, since IIRC 10188 retailed for 500CAD. -

Do y'all think these new ring pieces could be used for the upcoming UCS AT-AT? I could see them being used for leg joints or perhaps even the neck. Could this be similar to the UCS Millenium Falcon and Zane's tank situation a few years ago, where the cockpit pieces for the MF were first introduced for the tank and everyone thought they were the perfect shape/size for the cockpit? -

R2's head looks fine. I would have loved to see TLG go wild and try to achieve a smoother shape with SNOT techniques, but that's much harder than the blocky approach, and certainly more fragile. Been cutting back a lot on Star Wars sets lately, just focusing on the biennial giga-UCS sets, so still just waiting on more AT-AT info, though I must say that the Probe Droid looks neat. -

We'll, that's definitely a purchase. I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of semi-chromed pieces used on the Hubble telescope, and at more than 50cm in length, the shuttle itself is quite large!- 310 replies

Zoinks, does that include the rumored 250$ set? Or is that considered separate?

I wonder if the cardboard packaging will have some sort of hint as to what is inside each box. I remember a few years ago (I don't know if it's still the same thing now) the blind bags had tiny bumps on the bottom backside of the bag that could allegedly identify the minifigure within. If these new packages are used for the CMF as well and are 100% blind, then I guess Bricklink will be the way to go...

An AT-AT? Huh, it's certainly one of the most wished-for UCS sets, but I am still surprised TLG is actually doing it. I wonder how they'll address the feared stability issues? FWIW, the AT-AT Cavegod submitted to LEGO Ideas has around 6000 pieces: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/9a93c059-9944-42f8-a9af-6fd0c75bfba9 However, the revised version is almost 9000: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-4042/AllOutBrick/walker-assault-2020/#details While this different MOC has almost 6500: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-7540/jhaelego/minifig-scale-at-at-w-interior/#details What are the odds TLG makes it minifigure scale? Better start saving early for it. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Terrasher replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hooray for details on the sides! If only Ninjago City sets became a staple of D2Cs, like Modulars and Expert Cars are. I can't imagine them not performing well enough to warrant more sets. -
I'm still hoping for an Evolution ride. I started building one years ago, which I never finished, but motorizing the rotating seats was easy (just put the motor as the counter-balance on the other end of the arm). The real challenge comes with motorizing the swinging arm. Motorization or not isn't a dealbreaker for me, so I wouldn't mind it being solely manually operated, but I imagine TLG will want to make it easy for the ride to function on its own. Otherwise, I'm hoping for at least a swing ride, which should be much easier and smaller than the Rollercoaster.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Terrasher replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Good grief, after almost two hours of trying, my order finally went through (?). It now shows up as "In Process" on the website. It's been years since my last set purchase from S@H, since I prefer to go to my local LEGO Stores, but due to a local lockdown, I thought I'd give the website a try after so long. My, oh my, what a mess. It was fun crashing the website after about an hour, though. It felt like a collective effort coming to fruition. Happy new year, folks! -

There's a scanned image of the Canadian catalogue on Brickset right now. Looks like there's a balcony on the side of the student apartment, and the elevated sidewalk wraps / turns around the edge where the 16x32 baseplate is! I'm really happy TLG continued the railing instead of cutting it off like with the City. The more details there are on the sides the better, even if it's just windows or a masonry brick here and there - that way they won't just be large blank walls. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Terrasher replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Looks like there are some slivers of sidewalk on the sides of the pagoda, which would make it awkward to place it on the water side of the Gardens or the City. I'm hoping it doesn't look too out of place, though, since it would be the most logical place to put that 16x32 baseplate, instead of obscured between the larger buildings, where large empty walls would also be visible. When can we expect an official reveal? Jan 1st? Next week? I imagine very soon. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Terrasher replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Looks like the set is 73cm tall. Even if a big chunk of that number is taken by the teal tower and its antenna, it'll still be a puzzle to fit this thing on a bookcase or a shelf without decapitating it. Speaking of which, how are you all planning on displaying this set, for those who also own the Docks and the City? It's best to display corner buildings so they can be seen at a 45-degree angle, but if the City and the Gardens are placed back to back, then one of the facades won't be seen very well. Perhaps facing each other? -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Terrasher replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ooooh! There it is! That looks much better. Looks like the sidewalk rests lower than Ninjago City, and the lamps on the elevated walkway are indeed blue - strange but it adds some variety. The teal spire looks much better now that we can see the details and textures on everything else - it doesn't stick out as much as it did in the blurry pic. -

Terrasher replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The leaked image looks strange, and my first impression was slightly disappointed. However, blurry images don't do sets justice, and I'm sure it'll look better when it is revealed. I was expecting the corner to be on the side of the pagoda, and you would have to access the 16x32 baseplate through a little bridge instead of a continuation of the sidewalk. Nevertheless, still very excited to see official pictures, since I loved the Ninjago City and Docks. -

I hope it's an update of 10231 Shuttle Expedition. I love the Saturn V, but one enormous cylindrical ship is enough... If it's not that, what else could LEGO do that isn't somewhat obscure to most people? For 200$ it ought to be something big and recognizable.- 310 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Terrasher replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Promobricks says that the set is still ~5600 pieces, not 3500. I got scared by that May release teaser - but if that's just for retailers and the set is still scheduled for February directly from LEGO, we cool.
