  1. Beautiful. Looks like the smokestacks are 4 studs in diameter. If they are perfectly proportioned to the ship, then it should be about 125cm in length since 6.7m/269m = ~0.025 and 4 studs/160studs = 0.025. 160 studs long = 5 baseplates long = about 125cm. When can we expect a press release?
  2. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. So many awe-inspiring prequel-era vehicles that would benefit from the UCS treatment, but LEGO decides to go with Luke's Landspeeder. And for 200$ no less - probably way bigger than it needs to be to capture the details of the craft at a display scale. It's been a while since I've complained about an upcoming D2C (with so many of them it doesn't hurt to skip a few), but this is a meme come true.
  3. A very rough guess, judging by the stud count of Hedwig's wings, would be at about 50cm wide (wingspan) and... around 60cm tall?
  4. Woah, hey, that looks really good actually. Very nice display piece - not sure whether I would have preferred this over Gringotts (I probably would have preferred the bank tbh) but this looks much better than I thought. I was expecting an Assault on Hoth situation with a bunch of disconnected builds, but the overall composition of this set makes for a pretty impressive standalone display piece.
  5. I'm curious as to what other one-off, TV or movie licensed non-LEGO-Ideas (or offshoots of Ideas sets like the Friends Apartments) sets there are. Off the top of my head, I only recall Stranger Things. I hadn't heard about this show previous to these rumors, but then again I'm not big on reality TV. Can anyone that knows about this show chime in as to how popular it is? It's on its fifth season, which not all shows can boast that longevity, but to me it seems like a niche, out of the blue franchise to dedicate a set to.
  6. That price point is obscene - I wonder whether it will break the 1k mark in CAD. It's the same USD price as 75192, which is 900CAD here, but considering the recent exchange rates TLG is doing between USD and CAD prices, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up costing more than the Falcon. This many enormous sets in the span of a few months is an exercise in patience. Why blast a whole through your wallet this weekend when there's a MOAB coming in November?
  7. Looks like this is the end of the road for VIDIYO: https://www-promobricks-de.translate.goog/lego-vidiyo-wird-eingestellt/127968/?_x_tr_sl=de&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=ajax,sc,elem (Google Translate link of Promobricks) I am all for experimental themes, despite disliking sets whose main play function revolves around the use of a smartphone / an app (RIP Power Functions ). I'd love to see an experiment to bring back one of the classic themes like Castle, Pirates, Space, just to see how they would perform and to judge whether profits lie in outlandish themes or in more archetypal settings.
  8. The scale of the Gunship would be amazing for MOCed clone troopers using minifigure helmets but bodies with human proportions.
  9. A Thursday reveal? That's sooner than I expected, considering we just got the T2 press release. Exciting times, I just hope the model justifies the price. Really curious as to how the bubble turrets are built.
  10. Oooooh, very excited for the reveal. For what I assume will be 450CAD, I hope it will be massive. No idea what is meant by orange. Perhaps some geonosian dirt to add details? Might be nothing. There are quite a few D2Cs coming out in August - the T2 van, the Queer Eye apartment, I think, and the Gunship. I wonder which one will be revealed first. If TLG does one reveal per week to space them out, I would assume one of them is imminent, but without any teasers, I wouldn't get my hopes up.
  11. I just got off a quick call with CS and I'm in the same boat as you are. Didn't mention Bricklink but I asked the rep whether I could change the payment information now or should wait for the email. They told me to wait for the email, which will be sent near the shipping date, and that I would have seven days to contact them to update the payment info.
  12. Thanks, I'll probably give CS a call on Monday. Paypal is too popular a payment method for TLG to be unaware of this issue and start cancelling orders. I found this Tweet from someone with a similar problem:
  13. Finished building the set yesterday and I have to say that the build was quite enjoyable, IMO. The first steps of building the key levers are quite repetitive, but the rest of the typewriter makes for a wonderful departure from the common house- or car- type builds. The functions in this set are unlike anything I've built, so building all of the mechanisms was quite fun. It's the perfect mix of Technic and System, I think.
  14. Has anyone paid with PayPal? I'm wondering whether the payment authorization will expire before the order is completed, since no charge will be made until the item is shipped in six months.
  15. Got the Great Fishing Boat, so far it seems to be the second most popular project? Hopefully it'll reach the 3K mark. I can't wait to display it with the upcoming Lighthouse. Between this set, the Lighthouse and the Old Fishing Store, LEGO Ideas has a pretty nifty subtheme going on. Not really surprised that the Castle smashed through the 3K pre-orders. Personally not my cup of tea, but it is a good build. I'm really surprised TLG hasn't released their own 3000+ piece castle, yet! There are a lot of people clamoring for the return of the theme - looks like that talk is backed by some action, seeing as how quickly the Castle in the Forest is selling.
  16. It's a nice little set, but the windshield kills it for me. It's begging for a brick-built windshield using a couple 1x4x3 trans-clear panels. The rest of the car lools pretty good, though. It's strange that it's unlicensed, but it's nice to see a set that isn't tied to a specific brand.
  17. Saint Basil's Cathedral... incredible work. Definitely in my most wanted landmarks I'd love to see TLG tackle like the Colosseum or Big Ben.
  18. I absolutely love the look of this set but I have to agree that the price is very steep for a non-licensed product. I'm surprised the building experience is pointed out by multiple reviewers as being somewhat lacking, but having built the Colosseum, I don't think I'll mind the repetition that much if I end up buying it 270CAD stings a lot, though, especially for a set that isn't particularly big. But I am craving something other than a building or a vehicle. Thank you for the review and the video demonstration! It looks so good in the pictures
  19. The Google-Translated article just says "We are relatively sure that this can only be the upcoming 75309 UCS Republic Gunship", so I wouldn't take it as 100% confirmation. They've been pretty reliable in the past, but I think they're only making the same assumption most of us have been making since the reveal of the schedule of LEGO Con.
  20. You're right, those would be a wonderful fit for both the side and wing turrets. They're a stud larger in diameter than the Mos Eisley dome, which I think is appropriate for the size of the windscreens, and would result in smoother spheres. I think the wing turrets move as well, which would be easier to achieve with the gyrosphere parts. Oh boy, now I really want to see it use those pieces.
  21. I haven't made any clear scale calculations about this but... how do y'all think the UCS Gunship's ball turrets (on the sides and on the wings) will be built? We know the cockpits use this piece, which is ten studs long: Is the Mos Eisley Cantina dome piece big enough to match the scale? Slightly smaller than the cockpit, at 8 studs in diameter. I also wonder how the turrets just below the cockpits will be built. The system sets always used specialized pieces to allow motion, but those are much too small for the size of the upcoming set. Suffice to say I'm excited for the reveal. I can't imagine TLG building this much hype around a reveal for a small system scale set.
  22. Despite the Titanic being more expensive than the Colosseum, I don't think it will have a larger piece count necessarily. The Colosseum has a lot of tiny pieces whereas the Titanic has a more streamlined shape that can be recreated using larger pieces. What I'm wondering is: If an interior is included, how detailed will it be? 630$ is a heck of a lot of money, and TLG can only make it so big until it is just unnecessarily large. Would one meter be too small for a 630$ Titanic with no interior? Or would it be justified by adding a lot of inner details? I'm kind of relieved it's not a landmark set, though, since I'm a sucker for those and the end of the year is already expensive enough with the rumored AT-AT. I am happy that we are finally getting another Creator Expert ship after so long, though. It will make for a much needed break from the abundance of cars within this theme and many others. Do we have a rumored release date?
  23. Indeed, the UCS Millennium Falcon was revealed on August 31st, Cloud City on August 21st, the UCS Star Destroyer on September 5th and the Cantina on September 9th. A late August reveal for the AT-AT would be on par with previous, 2HY UCS set reveals. An early summer reveal for the Gunship followed by another UCS Star Wars set reveal a couple of months later - that's a lot.
  24. https://brickset.com/article/59649/lego-teases-something I'm guessing it's the "Night Mode" light kits that were shown as prototypes (?) months ago. A month-early tease would be for something way more significant than a 100$ fairground set. IMO, the dark background, glowing brick silhouette, bright colorful studs and "It's ON!" caption point towards the light kits. Not sure about the glitching effect. Perhaps because it is an electric component?
