[COR-CWW] The Cocovia wagonway: a royal collaboration
Elostirion replied to Brickwolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Bridge Constructions near the village of Poi Poi. Size: 4 plates of 16x16, so a total of 1.024 studs, not counting the river, which is a 32x32 plate, of which approximately 20x32 studs are visible. -
"I am really not too certain this will work", said Jake Forks, an experienced Corrish craftsman. "Oh I did the calculations, and it will. See the timber over there, holding the horizontal weight?", insisted Luca do Figino. "Sure, not it holds... yet still... how would it carry an ox or a horse, let alone a waggon filled with iron?", Jake asked further. "It will. See how the wood is attached down there at the rocks? It does not shake at all, not in the slightest. We did some great work down there. Now if we distribute the weight of the other planks properly, balance it further.", Luca replied. "Maybe in your country that will work...", mumbled Jake and turned away. He had never liked the idea that a young Terraversan would lead the construction for their small group near the village of Poi Poi. He had to admit though, that the construction of the rails had worked out flawlessly so far, even in difficult terrain. But constructing that bridge was the hard part. At least the natives had not disrupted them yet. But those two fisherman who had their hut closely just seemed to make fun of the workers all day. No, Jake really was in no good mood. "But as you wish, young Lord." "I am no lord", Luca replied. "And now let us get back to work. See over there? Fresh supply of wood is coming. The day is still young." And Luca do Figino from Terraversa smiled, as if Jake had just made a nice compliment. An ox wagon bringing fresh wooden supplies and looking at what will be the wooden bridge some day. The wooden bridge during its construction. The local fishermen really do seem to enjoy their sight of the workers struggles. On the other side of the bridge nature is still untouched. That beautiful wild cocoa plant will most certainly have to make way for the rails, though. #################################################################################### Thanks @Brickwolf for the great minichallenge! I tried to stick to the island style as suggested previously by mainly @Puvel and @Ayrlego. The wooden bridge is based on an original design by Villard d'Honnecourt. And finally the full layout visible in one shot:

Trade Companies provide some way of intercultural and multinational understanding and love as well - so why not? I added them, though with a lower reward (50 DBs).- 81 replies

This must be the best and most thought-out challenge so far in BoBS. Great approach from leadership, fantastic! :-) Here is my entry for category C... oh wait, wrong island and no orchids... :-D On a serious note: I assumd while most Cat C entries would also qualify for Cat B at the same time that every entry may only be submitted to one category, right?

Settlement: Nova Terreli, Nellisa, Eslandola
Elostirion replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Embassies of Nova Terreli New nations emerge in the eastern seas, such as Terraversa or the Sea Rats, while others increase their power and influence, such as Corrington or Oleon, and some remain waiting in the old world, such as Varcoast or Mokolei. However diplomatic relations are and have always been key to success. Nova Terreli as the oldest, largest and still most influential town east of Terraversa is a center of diplomatic activities. Many regions have established their embassies, and even more come here for diplomatic conversations. The town coffers are filled, and major Juan Alfonso Fontonajo wants to establish Nova Terreli as a diplomatic center even further. Nova Terreli will pay 100 DBs to anyone who MOCs an embassy from Corrington, Oleon or the Sea Rats. (reward for each consecutive embassy of the same nation reduced by 20%, so 80 DBs for the second, 64 for the third, 51 for the fourth) Nova Terreli will pay 120 DBs to anyone who MOCs an embassy from Altonia, Carno, The Great Alliance States, Namere, Pontilla, Prio, Salleek. (reward for each consecutive embassy of the same nation reduced by 20%) Nova Terreli will pay 130 DBs to anyone who MOCs an embassy from Garvey, Mardier, Mokolei, Terraversa, Varcoast. (reward for each consecutive embassy of the same nation reduced by 20%) Nova Terreli will pay 50 DBs to anyone who MOCs an embassy for their Trade Company. (reward for each consecutive embassy of the same TC reduced by 20%) Embassies can typically be licensed as "Art & Culture". If you find an appropriate alternative (e.g. Commerce if it's the embassy of a trading nation or even a TC, or Art & Culture if the embassy is also a gallery) -> feel free! Nova Terreli will pay up to an additional 80 DBs if you do not license the MOC yourself and give the licensing rights to Nova Terreli (large: 80 DBs, medium: 50 DBs, small: 30 DBs). Juan Alfonso Fontonajo will reward the three most beautiful embassies with 100 DBs each (deadline for this: January 31st in 618 AE; selected by my personal choice). Please keep in mind that your MOCs should reach a certain quality standard and match the style of both Nova Terreli as well as the nation you represent - bright colours are very welcome. Grey brick walls with a wooden or straw roof for Mokolei would definitely not match either, but a blue facade with yellow accents, some white columns and a black roof would definitely work great for a Terraversan Embassy in Nova Terreli. Multiple embassies per nation are definitely an option, but feel free to announce it here when you start with an embassy for one of the nations. All prices are valid at least until January 31st in 618 AE, but this is no hard deadline. So if you post your embassy in February 618 AE (this is 2018 btw.), you will most likely still receive your reward.- 81 replies

Welcome to Londa, the capital of Mardier. The Townguard keeps order intact. A statue of Ardmond Basker, the greatest Mardierian Explorer of all time, who discovered Terraversa in 511 AE. Some more impressions: This one really does not need much story. I just felt that when we designed Jameis' guide we needed some more pictures of how the NPC nations look like. That's why I started MOCing for Mardier. And here you go. Thanks a lot to everyone in the NPC nation development group or your fantastic feedback during the construction phase.

A fantastic execution (a small crack here and there in the interior floor, but that's about all I could wish for), a nice presentation, and definitely an outstanding roof - great work, cool idea. :-)

[COR-CWW] The Cocovia wagonway: a royal collaboration
Elostirion replied to Brickwolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I am actually 95% done with my wagonway MOC, though I am thinking about extending it a bit. Anyways, I expect to finish next Sunday. :-) A quick teaser (ok, not spectacular at all I assume)... -
After the Civil War had lasted more than twenty years within Mardier, the island of Terraversa has finally gained its independence in March 617 AE. It is said that their leader Miro Oldis, formerly Mardierian Viceroy of Terraversa, has led the troops to victory himself, when they chased the Death Guard of King Alphonse XIII of Mardier into the sea, and officially, finally and irreversible declared their independence. Today the young nation has to establish itself: Structures are required for government, military, administration but also things like an education system of their own, which they have never had. This is no easy task for Miro Oldis, who is hasting from council meetings to official speeches to diplomatic correspondence. Will he stand up to the task of forming Terraversa into a lasting and powerful nation? Miro Oldis, Archduke of Terraversa The lengthy war of independence between Terraversa and Mardier has created many militias and small troops, often under the command of one nobleman or another, or even a self-elected leader. Almost every soldier has been decorated with medals of honour from someone, and wears his self-created epaulettes and other enblembs with pride (which may often lead to odd-looking uniforms for militias). Many Atwi have fought alongside the Halosian Terraversans, and formed squads of their own. For now the feeling of unison still holds strong within the young nation, but establishing a real military organisation, with uniforms, ranks and common strategies will be one of the key tasks the government will have to tackle. Prima CompañÃa, the first official Terraversan miltary unit Terraversan Militia Units a noble bannerman, a townguard of Westface, an explorer, a musketman Sailors of the Terraversan Naval Forces a captain, a navigator, a common marine, a mercenary sailor from a privateer Warriors of the Atwi Tribe a militia-guardsman of Pamu, a tribal archer, a musketman from a militia-squad, a member of the crew of L'Olius Those emerged from our NPC development group (see Jameis Fastrider's Guide). I though I'd dedicate them a topif of their own which I could just link in the Terraversa text over there.

Román Fontonajo had watched the whole discussion in silence. As he had done most of the time during previous months. However he was pleasantly surprised by the turn the discussion had taken. "My friends", he said in his calm and collected voice when he finally rose from his chair. "Most of us haven't been there twenty years ago, when Catrelli claimed Nova Terreli, and when in our blindness we closed the island's ports even to our own kinsmen.", he explained as if he had been there himself. "And see where it has led us? It has formed a nation of anarchists in the Sea Rats, it has disunited nations, started an unhealthy race for further islands and supression of natives, and has even caused wars. Please let us prevent history from repeating itself." He made a brief pause to let his words sink in, as he always did. "But I know, my dear friends, that you will make the right decision. And with that knowledge I can already announce that the ports of Nova Terreli and Montario will stay free of taxes, and am most glad you are all with me on that decision. And someone must take care of our world, must we not?", he said, his voice suddenly changing to a dreamy tone. "We have come far with our Council, and I am glad to have been here by your side. But now is the time to take my leave. There are more important matters I must take care of, though maybe you disagree... But that does not matter. Willem, can you substitute for me and take the lead of this Council till the next elections? Sure you can, so thank you... I will see you all soon, I assume? ... Farewell, then." And Román Fontonajo, the Admius Legistrad of Eslandola, walked out of the Council Hall, his mind already somewhere else. And the world would change.

[OL - FB] New Directions
Elostirion replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Beautiful, very beautiful! And strong, solid. Those colours blend wonderful, just amazing. Did I say "beautiful" already? Because it is! For licensing purposes I suggest fortification, because that's what a gatehouse essentially is, I assume? :-) Else I'd say this one might also be Art&Culture due to its beauty (see Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, or other famous gates around the world), or commerce (like most Eslandolan or Garvian gatehouses would be).- 14 replies

[COR - OCT FB] Temple of Poseidon, Jameston
Elostirion replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Flawless execution - maybe too flawless? I think adding a crumbled piece here and there, a small crack, a little peace of dirt might have enhanced the MOC even further. The construction itself is amazing, many nice techniques and the overall flair is just perfect. :-) -

Fantastic introduction, @Lazer. Nice minifigs, however I'd be cautious with mixing yellow and fleshy faces. May look odd when they stand next to each other. -
The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-Up and Discussion, Era II
Elostirion replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome aboard, great to see someone pay attention to presentation of his MOCs. I am looking forward to see your ship and other MOCs. :-) Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the game. Also as has been stated your first class2 or lesser ships is free. Additionally if you have any MOCs ready for which you cannot pay the license fee as a beginner, I am more than willing to support you with a small donation or a loan (once the MOC has been posted, of course). No problem at all, many of us veterans have made more than enough money already.- 243 replies

BoBS CMF: Corrington Double Edition + Bonus Figure
Elostirion replied to Captain Dee's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Not one series, but two. And not about all the nations, but only about one. 32 Corrie-CMFs, wow! Others will have to catch up, right? Great work overall! :-) The additional scenes (especially for the Courtesan) are great. My favourite one is the cheese monger, just a great little minfig. I really like the coinsmith and the capitalist as well, great style. The same applies for the chocolatier and the cake maker. Wonderful series all around, bringing much life to Corrington's society.- 9 replies

This is just insanely beautiful. The small boat is absolutely marvellous. Stunning work here! -
Such a vivid anc colourful scene. Fantastic. The facades of the houses are really cool, as is the line of flags. That small cart in the front left is beautiful. And such a great variety of visitors.
