[COR - Jul FB] Jaguar Tower, Myzectlan
Ayrlego replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks Bregir, hopefully Montoya can resume exploring Cascadia again very shortly! Thanks Garm, It's good advice (and such a simple little thing!). I have changed the lengths for a reshoot I am going to do for LoR. Thank you Mike! Thanks Professor, I do find the black background really highlights the greens in a jungle scene. I didn't take any pics from other angles, but the build is still assembled if their is anything in particular you'd like to see. Thanks! Thanks SilentWolf. The brown patch is a reddish-brown slope from a tree trunk that I started building before changing my mind and going with a different style of trees. I forgot to remove the trunk, thinking it wouldn't matter - but regretted it as soon as I'd finished editing the photos (typical right!?). It was the first thing I removed for a reshoot I have planned for LoR. Thanks Kai, I too am really excited about the new big cats! Soon we will have builds using all three (because @Elostirion just could help himself and managed to obtain an outrageously expensive tiger! ) Feel free to drop into Cascadia anytime for a MOC or two! Thanks Elostirion, I can't claim that as an original technique of mine, I copied it from this build: IMGP8086 by deborah higdon, on Flickr I'm eagerly awaiting the completion of your tiger build! Great advice, thanks Jacob. When I was building the ruins at the base of the tower I actually 're-discovered' my grey cheese slopes and cursed myself for not using them on the tower!! Feel free to dabble in Azetc style on Cascadia any time you like, I can only imagine how great a similarly styled build from you would be!! Thank you! Allcock would never shoot such a magnificent beast!!! He's quite ahead of his time with things like that! Thanks BD! The more cats the better! (even better than cows right???? )- 17 replies

I love the colours in this build and the way you have covered them in trans clear plates is a really effective method of muting them slightly but not detracting from the brightness (if that even makes sense!). The background is also fantastic. Some many 1x1 round plates that I didn't even notice you'd used at first. Fantastic job overall - an underwater scene that will be extremely difficult for anyone to match!

Great idea for an educational building and well executed as well! The proficiency with which the recruits are handling their firearms made me laugh. Nice job!

[SR - FB 2 July 17] Essential turtles

Nice little scene, the transition with the sand is especially nice - I haven't seen light yellow used before as sand, probably because it is so rare in real bricks! -

@BodiNo need for a commission, consider it licensed as a large factory! -

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before somewhere and the conclusion was that both artesian or factory were acceptable. I can definitely think of at least one example that was licensed as a factory. Anyhow, Do you need someone to licence it for you (as in you can't access webforms)? Or do you need instructions on how to use the webform? Or are you asking your fellow Bluecoats for a loan? If option 2, access the webform here, then follow the bouncing ball. Builder Name: Bodi Faction: Oleon Free Property: No Challenge: N/A Thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/152296-ol-fb-the-royal-shipyard-in-eltina/. Size: Large (I think - it is >48x48 yes?) Type: Factory/Artesian (your choice) Property Type: None of the above Settlement Location: Eltina (make sure your spelling is correct or it won't automate) and submit! -

Colonel Allcock has lingered in Myzectlan, learning the culture and customs of the Myzec people. Despite having been on Cascadia for some time, he has yet to have seen one of the islands famed large cats. Although at night he has often heard them, they have remained elusive. Learning of his interest, one of the Myzec warriors with whom he has become friendly with, has offered to guide him to a watchtower in the jungle just outside the hidden valley in which Myzectlan is located. The watchtower is part of an overgrown fort complex, and although the jungle has long ago reclaimed most of the structures that once stood here, the watch tower remains standing and functional. The Myzec simply call it the 'Jaguar Tower', so named as the jungle cats frequently travel along the small stream running past the tower at night. After a long night waiting, Dirks patience finally pays off as, in the early hours of the morning, a jaguar strides past, its powerful muscles highlighted by the moonlight. ------- A build mainly to use my brand new jaguar I recently acquired! The tower is in the style of Gideon's jungle temple, a style I decided I liked much more than my own last attempt at Meso-American! Will be licensed as a small fort for Myzectlan.

[ETTC Cocoa Factory] Roasting the beans
Ayrlego replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another fantastic addition to the Cocoa processing factory SilentWolf. I really like how you have managed to use both your own style while at the same time blending with features in Bregir's component. The ovens themselves are a highlight and I like all the details you've crammed into the factory floor. Great job explaining the process as well. Overall a very high bar for me to try and match, I am afraid my fermentation plant will be rather disappointing after the efforts of the team so far! -
Perhaps Lady Mesabi can keep her husband under control... Although I feel she'll probably encourage him to further excess! A very humorous story, keep it up!

Very nice furniture and a great little scene.

Eslandola with a disproportionate advantage... What a surprise! Sorry, I just couldn't help myself Seriously though, I have thought about this myself. I was considering building drill grounds as educational. But it's still only one option. Bigger more established settlements definitely have loads more possibilities, but you are 100 percent right about new settlements. Compared to other property types, especially commercial, the balance seems off. Not sure about forts/upkeep, that probably needs to be kept the same across all factions so that defensive stats are even. Maybe we need to add EGS benefits to science fraternities, or significantly increase the bonus yield for educational properties (but cap the number per settlement level?). or maybe factories also get a slight bonus, after all, if our science and education is high quality, wouldn't that have flown on effects into industry? These are just some ideas, At the end of the day, I'm really not too concerned.

Explorer's Cabin, Camp Isaac, Cascadia
Ayrlego replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
As I commented elsewhere, great jungle scene and log cabin. The hanging details, especially the drying fish are great, and it is exciting to see the cleverly concealed panther. Although I believe Felicia to actually be Eslandolan (science knows no boundaries!) I'm sure she will avoid becoming cat food! I'm also sure the Royal Society will welcome any papers from her! Dirk Allcock is currently in the jungle nearby also searching for big cats, so maybe they will cross paths!- 16 replies

[ETTC Cocoa Factory] Grinding and pressing plant
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Fantastic build Bregir, it's going to be very difficult to match the level of detail in my fermentation section - which is basically just large piles of rotting cocoa beans! The masonry columns really add something to the facade and I like the overall clean feel of the factory. The steam engine, gears and grinder are really cool, but my favourite part has to be the press, that is very nicely done! Great job all over! I shall have to get working on my section now, I can't keep Cooke waiting too long!- 17 replies
