I totally missed this build in the flood of builds last week. A very colourful house and I like the way you have done the transition to the damaged section around the corner.

We thought you guys would probably like to use your own name, hence the idea to take the old name with us. However it's certainly not a condition or anything, so whatever works easiest. As to the automation, we haven't actually licensed anything yet for that very reason, once we are all in agreement we can choose a name and then license everything in bulk with the correct owner. Hopefully it will be no additional work for the automation team.

OOC: All, in preparation for handing over the settlement I have attempted to update the settlement thread here. For now I have only counted properties built by Corries towards the settlement size. I've attempted to list all the others, but there have been so many, so if I have missed your build, please post in the settlement thread and I will add it.

Great tavern and very fitting.... although somewhat cleaner than I imagined a sea rats tavern to be... I guess it is brand new -
Thanks Capt Wolf. Allcock understands how extremely busy Guilder is right now and there is no hurry for a reply. I wanted to make a gesture towards Eslandola and also it was a great IC excuse to build on one of the Prio seas Islands that intrigues me the most! Thanks Elos. It amuses me greatly how these things sometimes work. This was something I literally whipped up in a single night after building the tree the night before as stress relief after a busy week of examinations! Yet somehow I think that the build I put together in a couple of hours looks better than than the other non-BoBS build I posted yesterday that I worked on for over a month (my middle-eastern themed spice plantation). No worries at all Maxim, I don't really don't mind the stories about the money at all, it's actually been quite fun and I'd expect you guys to make a big deal about it IC anyway! The duelling bit wasn't targeted at anyone, it was more just an IC excuse to build on Otono for you greenies! And after @Jacob Nion mentioned duelling the other day I couldn't resist talking it up a bit! No need to build anything, but if you insist, Jameston could really use some love, maybe a MAESTRO warehouse - perhaps MAESTRO could benefit from the vanilla we are planning on exploiting soon (when I get around to building it!). Thanks BD!

Great colour palette here, the tans and brown work very well together. Those are some pretty sweet looking troops as well! Good job! -
Great ruined house Capt Wolf, instantly recognisable as your style! The dark red masonry looks great and the burnt out bits are really well done. Also for some reason I really like the minifig combo of the wagon driver! Nice job, especially given the short production time.

That is one heck of a lot of grey bricks for a quarry - they must have taken ages to get to that height! I like the way you have done the palm trees, any chance of a closer look at how they all go together? Good to see Stormhaven getting some attention, I'll have to revisit for another MOC before too long! Great job!

As Corlander troops filed past the quaint looking farmhouse, Colonel Dirk Allcock couldn't help but think something was wrong with this scene.... He noticed the Eslandolan owners of the farmhouse sullenly watching the Corlander infantry... "Sir" an aide smartly reported. "Go ahead Lieutenant" "Sir, Captain Redding reports his company has swept aside weak Eslandolan resistance, and our forces now have complete control of Otoño " but Dirk's attention was drifting... something was definitely wrong... He focused in on the distraught Eslandolan farmers.... BANG! Dirk sat bolt upright in bed. That was it! He should have known it was only a nightmare! Of course if it had been real the Eslandolan farmers would have been cheering their Corlander liberators with open arms! This current state of raised tension was taking it's toll on his sleep - and furthermore his friend Don Isaac Montoya had to leave Myzectlan before the pair had the opportunity to spy one of the big cats said to be prolific in the area. The next morning Dirk decided he would do something regarding the whole situation. He at once drafted the following open letter to the Eslandolan Republican Council, or whatever that body was calling itself these days.... Dear Sirs, Congratulations in your hard won victory against Mardierian Forces in your recent war. Sadly however, It has come to my attention that I personally have been accused of openly supporting Mardier by some of your countrymen, some of whom seem to hold high positions within your Government. I would like to very clearly and publicly refute such utter nonsense. My own personal actions at all times have confirmed with the officially stated position of the Corlander Crown - one of careful neutrality. My accusers have pointed to a large sum of money that I have been rumoured to have provided the Mardierian war effort. Damn their impertinence! It is a fact that I spent a sum of an amount I shall not disclose in a private transaction with a certain Mardierian. I shall reiterate this was a private transaction and had no relation to the war being conducted against you at the time. I shall consider any citizen of the Brick Seas who continues to publicly make such nonsensical accusations as calling my honour into question, and shall demand satisfaction on the field of honour. Pistols or swords, it matters to me not. I apologise for such an emotional response, however I am sure you can understand my frustration in this matter. As a gesture of my sincerity in this matter, I shall, of my own free will and not as any admission of guilt, make available a sum of my own personnel wealth to an Eslandolan merchant with whom I have a level of trust. The sum of money shall be comparable to the sum I paid the Mardierian for his services. I have instructed my Eslandolan agent to spend this sum of money developing your settlement of Hojaroja, Otoño. I choose this settlement as it is currently underdeveloped, and it's status as a colony of Eslandola can not be called into question. To avoid any further unwarranted accusations of Corlander interference in Eslandolan affairs, I have instructed my agent to hand over all properties developed to the administration of the aforementioned settlement. Please make note that I offer this action as a personal gesture, and it is not an action of my Crown or Government. I hope this situation meets your agreement, and ends any question as to the regard in which I personally hold your proud nation. Yours Sincerely Colonel Dirk Allcock ---------------------------------- [OOC] Eslandolans, please accept this gesture as a result of my misunderstanding of Challenge 5 rewards, and to make up for any disruption my misunderstanding may have caused your plans. I can't seem to find a settlement page for Hojaroja - as soon as you have that organised I shall begin by registering the above build as a small residence in the name of Hojaroja. I will endeavour to do several other builds for your settlement over the coming months, but please give me some time, as my build list is currently very long, and my time seems to keep reducing!!!

Lol! Brilliant parody Kai, I for one can certainly appreciate your sense of humour here, it must have indeed been fun to write! Nice MOC as well, especially that Sandcastle! Actually I have one small fort to place down with a mirco licence, so I'm tempted to take you up on your offer! Coincidently we are considering the name Agavia for this island - I mention it because in some ways it strikes me as somewhat similar to Argentum!

The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-up and Discussion
Ayrlego replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
All; thank you for the overwhelmingly positive response. I admit I went to bed last night feeling quite bad over the whole thing, so it was with some trepidation I logged in this morning. I don't have time to fully respond as my time is limited, however I quickly wanted to say thank you, and; @blackdeathgr I agree that IC would be better, but I think this OOC pause and discussion has been really beneficial and I'd like to think helped repair some of the damage that may or may not have been done. Anyway, when I return to the game it will be back IC as a (more aggressively imperialistic - because that's what I'm hearing the people want! ) British Corlander officer, and we can continue! @Garmadon For the record, I was in no way bashing Challenge 5. It has been my favourite so far and I really appreciate all the hard work that went into it, especially from yourself. Explaining the Garvey thing was a great insight, thank you. I guess we assumed (seemingly incorrectly) that the result was that the losing side would be expelled from the island, not that the winning sides claim would be legitimised. Thank you for clearing that up. Also it was very helpful to understand that you would have claimed the island initially had not Mardier jumped in. Also I realised I never thanked you for your previous explanation of the mathematics behind the result - so thank you! Anyway, got to go, please do continue- 780 replies

The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-up and Discussion
Ayrlego replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Congrats and all the best! Oh megablocks! Seriously, how on earth did I miss that? In that case Maxim and all Eslandola my sincere apologies. I am totally in the wrong and take full responsibility. I am however, glad we now have it all out in the open. Can we pause a while and work OOC a bit to try and come up with a solution that works for all. In line with my statement above, I have no interest in interfering with legally gained settlements. Yes, but to be fair, we never claimed Malto for Corrington. I believe war would have been (and still will be) an over reaction and I don't think you'd have it as easy as you may think, even with your advantage in builders. A new war challenge against two playable factions should not favour one side as much as Challenge 5 did. Anyway, we don't even have rules for war at this stage. I think you are mixing IC/OOC again. That justification was our publicly stated IC reason, of course an Empire will claim whatever looks best and not reveal it's full justifications. The size of our empire is irrelevant here. I have been upfront here with our real IC motivations which I believe make perfect sense for our nation. I still strongly disagree with this statement. The challenge made it very difficult to remain neutral. We took great pains to ensure our characters committed no actions that supported either side. So I can and will say that we did in no way officially support either side. Thank you, that was precisely my intention, all be it on a flawed premise. Maybe next time I won't cock it up so royally. You were right and I was wrong. I'm sorry. Had the island not been a legitimate prize, I would stand by my decisions, I was however, mistaken. Therefore I completely withdraw my support for our actions, regardless of what my faction decides, I can no longer in good faith build for Nova Malto (I will however build there to defend Corrington and her interests if required and to defend the safety of the Mayor, who despite being threatened by Eslandola, is an honourable man who is only trying to to the best for his people). I hope we can come up with a way to resolve this and I apologise we have had to resort to OOC actions at this point. Regardless of the fact I was wrong, I hope you can see that Eslandola's sometimes heavy handed response can sometimes not be received well. I don't think I am the only player to feel that the rules have been slightly bent to accommodate your actions on several occasions. I am sorry, but your occupation of the Isla de Medio/Victoria still doesn't sit right with me, but I will respect the Challenge 5 rules. In conclusion, I guess I was trying to create some balance but did so on a flawed premise. I still think our actions made sense IC for an Empire such as ours. Again sorry for the mess. Now I really have to go- 780 replies

The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-up and Discussion
Ayrlego replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
All, I have to take a break for a couple of days as I have some important tasks IRL this week that need my full attention and don't have time for drama here. As things are moving quickly I would like to clear a few things up given the tense atmosphere around here at the moment. In the interests of transparency I will do so here, in public and fully OOC. Also I want to save Bregir the pain of having to deal with this by himself and apologise to him for the work created. It was my party, I take responsibility. I admit to being the brainchild behind Corrington's actions (except the WTC bits, that's all on Mesabi ). There was nothing malicious in my intentions when I proposed the initial concept. Actually I never seriously thought my fellow Corlanders would run with the idea. OOC I bear no faction any ill will. The plan was meant to be an in-character action and meant to resemble something a real life Empire would consider. I will try and explain this. Hopefully if you Eslandolans take a deep breath and take a step back, you can understand my perspective. Then maybe you can rationally respond and I can attempt to understand yours. Then we can get back to enjoying the game. My idea was simple. Really it was simply an extension of where we were headed before the Mardierian presence was revealed. I have always thought of Corrington as very similar to Britain. British foreign policy was simply and clever, with a smaller base in manpower it had to be. In European conflict they would support the weaker side with the intention that no one side would ever become big enough to be a serious threat. In character I see this as Corrington's goals. That is why 2 out of 3 of my challenge 5 entries supported Mardier - the weaker side. Not because I hate greenies, in fact some of my best work has been in collaboration with Eslandolans and if I wasn't a redcoat, I'd be wearing green. Also the fact my entries were pro-Mardierian doesn't make my character pro-Mardierian. I strongly resent the statement we won an island by supporting Mardier. We won that island by winning category E. In-character none of us did anything to overtly support either side. I think there is some confusion here between what is OOC and what is IC. Happy to explain this further if required. My justification for a neutral settlement on the Isla de Medio/Victoria was equally as simple. Despite however many times Eslandola may protest it, their settlement on the island was never legal. The island was not a prize the same way all the other islands claimed by all factions were. I would never, ever interfere with a legal settlement - and would put my full support against anyone who ever did. I saw the island as like Berelli. Disputed territory. Free for all. Now don't get me wrong here. I'm not saying I don't support Operation KMA. I do. Fully. It was a great move. It made sense. It was, in short, fantastic. It generated great story, probably the best challenge yet and most importantly, so many great MOCs. I didn't like the way the Mardierian presence was handled, but that is history and we worked through it. Now challenge 5 is over. Again, don't take this the wrong way, but a playable faction vs. a NPC faction, it was really only ever going to end one way wasn't it? (again, not necessary a bad thing, I mean why have NPC nations if you can't beat up on them?) Anyway can you see why some people may perceive this as being an unfair advantage to Eslandola? Also you guys suddenly make an alliance with another NPC nation - I mean seriously, who is making this up? None of this has been communicated which is probably leading to these misunderstandings/frustrations.... perception is important. Leaders need to remember, we the unwashed public don't see all the inner workings, nor should we, but there needs to be a balance. At no time did I understand that by wining challenge 5 Eslandola's claim would be legitimised. If that was a major misunderstanding on my part, please point out where it was clearly stipulated. Then I will have to seriously re-think my actions and assumptions, because as I said before, and I am very serious on this point - I would never, ever interfere with a legal settlement. Nova Malto was never intended to be anything sinister. I thought in-character we could have fun with accusations of being a puppet etc. Some friendly rivalry etc. But I fully expected to come to an agreement to either withdraw our troops or, maybe in the future even hand over the settlement. It was never meant to be Corlander territory, although you know what? If it was nothing would change, as I still don't see the Isla de Medio as a legal Eslandolan settlement. I had hoped we could have some fun and create some stories. Unfortunately it seems we can not do that without excess drama. Personally I'd rather be building up my own settlements, but I honestly thought this course of action would be better for the game. Clearly I was wrong. If I made any incorrect assumptions please point them out. Hopefully you can see where I was coming from. I will check in a bit over the next couple of days, but won't have time for detailed replies. Hopefully this weekend I can get around to commenting on some of the awesome builds. I apologise if I have offended anyone, please feel free to raise any issues with me. Hopefully we can resolve this in a calm, respectful manner.- 780 replies

Name: Nova Malto Ownership: Eslandola Location: Isla de Victoria, Prio Seas Mayor: TBD Who can own property in Nova Malto: Anyone Who can freebuild in Nova Malto: Anyone Description: After Eslandola's decisive victory over Mardier on the Isla de Victoria, all Mardierian forces withdrew from the island and with them fled most of the settlers of wealth and status. Before leaving, Mardierian troops conducted a scorched earth policy, determined to leave nothing of value behind for the victorious Eslandolans. Left behind however, were the poorer Mardierian settlers and those without the means to flee, or with nowhere to go. Fearing reprisals from their new Eslandolan overlords, but more so from the natives who the Mardierian forces are said to have savagely repressed, these refugees, their homes and crops burned, gathered in the ruins of the former settlement of Malto on the north of the Island. Former Mardierian Captain Giovanni Lorenzini turned to the Empire of Corrington for help. Corlander colonial authorities, fearing a humanitarian disaster on the war torn island, authorized armed support for Lorenzini's proposal of a "free and neutral" settlement and temporarily recognized Nova Malto as a separate entity from the Eslandolan colony of the Isla de Victoria. After intense political talks, Eslandola guaranteed the safety of all refugees that stayed, and agreed to help build a settlement on a Corrington island for refugees that wished to leave (among whom were the aforementioned Capt. Lorenzini); and Corrington recognized Eslandola's authority on Isla de Victoria. Corrington withdrew their troops, and now the Eslandolan settlement of Nova Malto rises from the ashes of the former Mardierian settlement of Malto.
