Nice continuation BD, I especially like the Bastion citizen, SR sailor, King's Dragoon and the Order of the Faith soldier. Also, perhaps Allcock has been lost in the jungles for too long, but that Priest of Hades seems to have a rather shapely body....

[COR - FB] Letters to be written
Ayrlego replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That is one very nice looking desk! The ink well is clever as well, NPU. @Legostone/ @Kai NRG I believe it is 20310 Brick 1x1 modified with scroll -
Jameston is quickly developing into the Corlander commercial hub of the paradise isles. As such, the East Terran Trade Company (ETTC) is naturally investing heavily. ETTC representatives have recently come to an agreement with Colonial Governor Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock where the ETTC will assist providing defence to the young colony. Part of the arrangement involves the stationing of a company of ETTC Sepoys in the settlement. Big men from the Mokolei States, these warriors have been retrained to fight with the latest Corlander tactics and equipment. Their fierce loyalty is further guaranteed by the terms of their contract. When signing up they are allowed to bring any immediate family members to the colonies and are awarded Corlander citizenship and a land grant in the colonies after 15 years service. ------ A quick build to allow the ETTC to raise some troops in Jameston. Will be licensed as a small residence (barracks). Full credit for the palm three trunk design goes to Mark here.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Congrats @Maxim I, a huge effort! Leadership, Over the course of the last year and a half Corrington has raised a fair number of troops in the EGS. Not including those being used by members for AMRCAs, I have the job of deploying them around our settlements, however as a faction while we know what we have raised, we have largely lost track of where they are, or they have never been placed. Rather than potentially confusing matters further by attempting to fill in 500 forms, would it be possible for me to PM one of the leadership team with where we want them placed? Thanks in advance, -

Important reminder about ship limits and the MRCAs
Ayrlego replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Just to confirm... is it greater than 10 levels that require extra purchase? For example, if I licensed a level 4 and a level 6 vessel, would I need to purchase an upgrade to use them both?- 33 replies

[COR - FB] East Terran Trade Company Headquarters
Ayrlego replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great wall texturing and I like how the roof matches several other of the MOCs we've seen in Arlinsport! The formal gardens also work really well and I especially like the design you've used for the benches. The green feathers sticking out of the bamboo pieces in the pot plants is also a really nice part use. Great work and a fitting Headquarters for the ETTC. -
Another great series Sir Stig! My favourites would have to be the Chocolatier (I will probably use him at some stage!), The Myzec (I stocked up on a couple of those torsos for that very idea!), the Garvey Trader and Sea Rat Occultist. @Mesabi I believe it is from Brickwarriors
-
Wow, great addition Capt Wolf, you certainly didn't disappoint! And so much activity over the last couple of days and it made it to page two before I could comment! My all time favourite is the Eslandolan Swordsmen, I have one made up identical that I copied from your Mardierian surrender scene that very nearly made it into my series! The Mardierian musketeer is also really cool, I love the SW torso that you use for your musketeers. That's right! @Bregir it's all about the figures - all else is secondary!!!

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Sir Stig: It took me ages to find this last time we had this discussion - it is hidden away in a post in the middle of some discussion in the History and Background thread. I like the idea of putting it somewhere more prominent with some examples! Here are some of my examples for inspiration purposes: Mardier Garvey -
[COR-AMRCA] Mokolei Expedition
Ayrlego replied to Lord Buckethead's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I can't believe I haven't commented on this yet - I thought for sure that I had!!! Firstly I love the idea of this expedition and the chance to flesh out the Mokolei States. Both Lord Buckethead and Bregir's builds are really good at illustrating the story. Lord B I still really like your engineers - I will be using these guys in the future and Bregir the Sepoys look great with the white turbans - now I need to add them to a wanted list as I only currently have one! If you guys need some building support for this expedition somewhere down the line, let me know and I'll see what I can do! Looks very interesting! -
Thanks! I've been thinking that perhaps I should have made the smuggler a she rather than a he.... Thanks Elos. I wasn't sure about the merchant baron's hat - but I didn't want to use the musketeer hat again so I gave it a try - glad you like it. Thanks for the original inspiration - I hope we see some more! Thanks Spud! My highlanders keep re-appearing! I'd love to make a whole (BoBS) company of them (30), but I only have three of the CMF bagpipers and they are too expensive on BL to get any more - well definitely for another 27! Thank you Drunknok. Are there any figs in particular you'd like to know the parts for? I can definitely let you know. Thanks Garm! Please do a series!!!! Thank you Capt Wolf, the priestess has got a BrickForge Tribal Sword. The write ups got a bit rushed - looking back they are full of errors! Would love to see a series from you - your figure combos are some of my favourite here! Thanks Mesabi, just inspired. As for a WTC marine - two issues 1. I don't have any of their torsos! and 2. I only had three spots for Corrie figs. I reckon I could easily do a whole Corlander CMF series - if so then your marines may get a spot! Thanks Kai! I recently (finally) got two lime feathers - I'm finding them surprisingly handy!

[COR - SEP FB] Celestia Royal Sugar Plantation (LDD)
Ayrlego replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you Prof, the Southern feel was what I was hoping to achieve with the house!! Wow! That is definitely the effect I'm going for, no idea even where to start to get it like that... How did he even.... I have no idea how any of that attaches!!! Thanks Elos, I agree:- 18 replies

Capt Wolf sums it up well. Especially this bit: And I think that is the most important thing of all. Some players like to build more 'toy' like designs, keeping in the spirit of Lego as a toy. Others like to go more realistic. I think the game needs to be flexible enough to be able to include both types of player and everything inbetween - and I think we are pretty good at doing that! A good example of flexibility is the range of military units depicted. When I started playing, my troops were quite Napoleonic era in appearance. In contrast players like Capt Wolf went for a mid-late 1600s feel. Eventually I changed out my shakos for tricornes and tried to slide back a century as I realised I wanted to change the style I was building in. I guess the point is that you can be flexible and modify your style depending on what you want to build. I think the only official red lines are 1. No slavery. and 2. No steam engines. (although 2 has been slightly bent - Corrington's Royal Cocoa factory has a prototype steam device, but this is justified by history as it was first used within our time period, and is only used in a very small and isolated way. Hmmm, I kind of agree with Mesabi here (he's probably pretty surprised to hear that!) I wouldn't say I have a problem with it. but personally I think that the more fantastical elements should be able to be explained in some sort of rationalistic way and their definite, confirmed existence should not be part of official lore eg. nobody else saw the kracken, and it is widely believed the first officer was drunk at the time and hit a submerged reef... and again I think we have done that pretty well with the Kraken. Having said that, I wouldn't want all fantasy banned from BoBS - it may not be my thing, but it is others and it brings something different to the game. I think if we all stuck strictly to historical reality not only would we drive people away, but the game would become (even more) serious and loose a lot of the fun aspect. At the end of the day, if you don't like someone else's story arc as it doesn't agree with you perception of the BoBS world, I think it's pretty easy to just ignore it/appreciate it as being a different perspective and move on with your own - and the game needs to be flexible enough to be able to do that.

Awesome, and pretty much exactly how I imagined the flat south eastern plains to be like (minus the ruins - that is an interesting twist!!). Those dark orange stalks are really coming in handy here! This! Specifically a breakdown of the body where the legs and head/hairpiece attach. A fantastic brick built bird which I'd love to steal take inspiration from someday!

[COR - SEP FB] Celestia Royal Sugar Plantation (LDD)
Ayrlego replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks Spud! Thank you Puvel, the placing of the canes was a little tedious, but after a while it became automatic. The real pain was LDD crashing every 2 minutes after the initial build got too big! Thanks Elos, coming from you - King of the cotton - that means a lot! Thanks Mesabi, not sure about bedside tables - it's supposed to be pretty Spartan you know! Thank you Garm! I've seen the frogs used as door handles somewhere before, can't remember where though... I always knew they burnt the fields, because I remember driving through the sugar belt in Northern New South Wales during burning season, but I never realised why before I researched this build. Thanks Kai! The sugar mill is going to be challenging to get the round shape. Here is the inspiration pic I'm hoping to work from: ALL: Any ideas on how to get the tapered round tower - feel free to let me know!!! Thanks BD! Thank you Captain Wolf, yeah I found it strange that no one had really ran with sugar until now... ALL: I got the telescope pieces from BL this afternoon, here are the canes in physical bricks. I used Alt-Bricks to get the tan stalks. I was going to then use green Lego stalks but decided to try the different Alt-Brick colour... not sure if I like it or not - let me know what you think- 18 replies

In response to @Elostirion's awesome CMF series, here is my own (series 2?) effort - featuring an all yellow line up!!! Anyone else care to do series 3 on? Enjoy! In faction alphabetical order Corrington Corlander Highland Grenadier Recruited from the wild Corrish Highlanders, these are some of the toughest and most well renowned troops in Her Majesties service. A feature of every Corlander military campaign, these troops are also present in protecting Corlander interests in the new world. Currently stationed in Port Woodhouse, this veteran Grenadier drills almost constantly. His discipline is unquestionable and most days he can achieve five shots a minute - a phenomenal rate of fire for a musket! Corlander Sea Captain Part merchant, part explorer, this Corlander Sea Captain has made a life on the high seas. Whether it is carrying a valuable trade cargo, or charting unexplored waters, he is the undisputed master of his vessel and expert in his trade. Currently based out of King's Harbour, he prepares for an expedition to chart islands in the New Haven region. Corlander Keeper of Time Keepers of Time occupy an important place in Corlander society. Responsible for the local Office of Time, they promote order in a chaotic world. Part bell tower keeper, part town planner, the Keeper of Time occupies an almost spiritual place in secular Corlander society. The Time Keeper in Mooreton Bay is a former army veteran, who lost a leg in some long forgotten skirmish. His life is now dedicated to order - and nowhere needs order quite like a newly established settlement in the New World! Eslandolan Musketeer Don't be fooled by his old fashioned appearance, Eslandolan regulars gained a hard fought reputation as some of the finest troops in the recent conflict on the Isla de Medio/Victoria. While his equipment may not be as advanced as his counterparts in Corrington or Oleon, Eslandolan troops ware their old fashioned uniforms with a perverse sense of pride. Now, flushed with victory, this musketeer spends some well earned rest in a quite posting to the new settlement on Otono. Eslandolan Merchant Baron The MCTC, EWTC, MAESTRO, Eslandolan Trade companies are giants of commerce in the new world. Such powerhouses are driven by powerful men, driven by the almost obsessive need to accumulate riches and power. This successful merchant baron is currently on Nellisa, overseeing the the establishment of his Trade Companies cotton interests there. Eslandolan Assassin An intense war and ruthless trade competition promote an environment where a professional 'problem solver' may thrive. She is one of the best 'problem solvers' in the new world. Usually in the employment of the King, with the decline of the monarchy she finds herself seeking new employment and was last seen stirring up trouble during the Terraversan rebellion against Mardier. (This is an approximation of one of Elostirion's characters - you may recognise her from Challenge V!) Oleon Guardsmen Only the tallest, fittest and most experienced men are selected for the elite Oleon Guard units. These moustached veterans install fear whenever present on the battlefield, renowned for their stubbornness in both attack and defence. Currently he is stationed in Breshaun, patiently waiting for orders on which puny enemy to crush next. Oleon Naval Officer With some of the grandest ships and one of the largest fleets in the New World, The Oleon Navy is well represented throughout the colonies. Known for his steadfast ability to defy the odds, and his deep piety for Poseidon, this Naval officer captains a Royal Frigate, currently hunting down pirates in the Sea of Thieves. Oleon Priest of Hades The most shadowy of the Oleon Priesthoods, not much is know about Priests of Hades expect that their bright red robes install terror in most men. Currently he is rooting out heresy across the New World. Sea Rat Pirate Mercenaries, pirates, bandits, it doesn't matter what you call them, these are some of the most ruthless men in the Brick Seas. This one is known for his use of pistols. It is not know how many he carries at any one time, but in a boarding action he always seems to have one loaded to dispatch his enemies. Sea Rat Captain An independent contractor, this master sea captain will taken on any job... if the price is right. Fiercely independent, he owes no man his allegiance. He is the master of his own destiny. Sea Rat Smuggler Need something... unsual? Maybe some fell of the back of a ship? This man, based in Tortuga, can find anything, or anyone for a suitable amount of gold. Why does he cover his face? Probably because his torso has a large about of flesh he is wanted by most of the major empires! Mardierian Officer Although humiliated in the last war against Eslandola and Garvey, it would be foolish to discount Mardier as a major power just yet. As the long civil war on the mainland comes to a close, many Mardierians look to their lost colonies, and those who they blame for this, and long for revenge! Garvian Infantry Steadfast allies of Eslandola in the last war, the small but well trained and professional army of Garvey played a significant role in Mardiers defeat. Now back in Leopoldis, this soldier awaits his next assignment. Myzec Apprentice Priestess Her whole life has been spent training for a leading role in Myzec society, still she has always earned to discover life outside the hidden valley of the Myzec. Now the redcoats have come, and her opportunity has arisen. Appointed by her leader to accompany the leader of the red coats back to his towns, she will finally explore the world beyond the confines of her beloved valley. Terraversan Inn Keeper Rebelling against the Mardierian crown hasn't changed much in King's Port. Business is still booming as the port remains an important hub and entry point into the new world. She takes full advantage of this, catering to visitors in the busy port... and if she earns some extra money for what she over hears in her tavern... well that would just be good business!
