Selling ones that others release free is arguably not as bad, though i think its a bit more dick-ish

Technic is definitely not popular in Western Australia, many stores have very small if any Technic sections often consisting of the few smaller releases, and its up to bigger toy stores (none of which are near me) to carry the larger ones, and even they get very few. this one large department store called BIG W has a very large toy section, but only got 3 42030s and i bought the last on they had, last october.

Fundamentally 'wrong' renditions
Corvette3 replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That definitely reminds me of a certain movie. -
I know how you feel, the has 42038 has been released here but none of my local stores are carrying it yet.

I have to ask, how does one combine RC with pneumatics? they always seemed a little mutually exclusive, unless you used motors to control the switches or something.
-
And yet if had just a couple fewer functions, we would be lamenting about Technic sets getting too simple... sorry i'm in a bit of a cynical mood about not being able to get one for a while

Can any set carry heavy loads? i did make my Unimog lift itself though using an L-motor and a 24 tooth gear.

[HELP] Pushrod Suspension
Corvette3 replied to Corvette3's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Apparently its suspension is excellent for its use (heavy off-roading) but i personally have not used one. -

I know, like i said i feel like an idiot, i have been interested in purchasing the Williams F1 and/or the 42000 and to think i simply needed a quick glance at their suspension to answer my question. -

[HELP] Pushrod Suspension

I feel like an idiot now, i just saw a picture of the Williams F1 and i had a similar setup, there goes my weird question -
So i was browsing some Traxxas RC cars, and noticed the Summit had an interesting setup for suspension. Its very unique from what types I've seen before, so i thought, is it possible with Technic? I've seen you guys make some pretty amazing setups, but i cant imagine what kind of parts you could use to make this and does it have a name? i thought i knew but forgot.

June? i would have thought July, if that was the case, expect the new ones to be up around then or a bit later.

Good luck i guess? lego is quite heavy, you'll need a lot of power to get it moving, for comparison a good quality RC airplane, weighs less than 1.5 KG, would use powerful Brushless motors and have light, high voltage LIPOs for power. the body is mostly a dense foam with micro servo motors for the flaps and rudder.

Sets that haunt you
Corvette3 replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, my grown-out-of-toys-period lost me the chance at owning 8258, 8043 and 8070 they are all very expensive now in Australia, and exchange rates prevent me from enjoying the reasonable price you can get them for elsewhere. Very frustrating. -
Looks like ill be saving Up for it, but i have no idea when it can be bought in australia.

If they do, i hope they re-release something cooler like the 8109 or 9396, or how about a flagship re-release like 8275!.

If an XL motor can shatter gears and twist axles, then i'd hate to see what a high-torque drill motor could do.

Don't forget, alkaline batteries actually drop voltage under load, in any kind of normal use, they actually give about 1.2-1.3V depending on how much current is being used but a NIMH gives 1.2 much more strongly, so its not going to be 18 volts with 12 AA Alkalines.
