[MOC] Huddig 1060c
Oliver 79 replied to Oliver 79's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks guys. @Milan I'll look forward to seeing your version. I think you are right, it might need to be a little bit taller. unfortunately, the front bucket is a bit small too. I toyed with the idea of a brick built one, but I couldn't get the shape right. @MajklSpajkl Thanks, I am most proud of this part! @Paul Klop Unfortunately I didn't have enough building time to participate in the contest. maybe next time...... @legomarat Thanks, but I'd prefer it to be "very manly" !!! -
[MOC] Huddig 1060c
Oliver 79 replied to Oliver 79's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you all for the positive feedback. @Lipko the outriggers only lift the model for a brief moment. Just enough to take a photo! -
Hello fellow Brickers, Today I would like to show you my new creation. The Huddig 1060c. This has been in the making for a very long time. I have built and re-built this many, many times! Even though the Huddig was my inspiration, I'm sure there are a few differences. For example, I have no idea what sort of engine the real machine has. I did try to keep the proportions as true as I could, which gave me a few headaches along the way. my main problem I had to overcome was the funny angle of the outriggers. This was actually the reason for so many failed attempts. My model has the following functions; Front loader utilizing four of the new 1 x 11 pneumatic cylinders. Back hoe utilizing two new 2 x 11 cylinders and one of the older size cylinders. Back hoe is mounted on a small turntable for left and right movement. This actuated via a z20 gear at the front of the cab. Outriggers utilizing one pneumatic cylinder each. articulated H.O.G steering via the light beacon on top. 4 cylinder engine powered through front and rear differentials. All pneumatic actions are via the hand pump. (no batteries in this model!) There are a few things that bug me about the model. due to the huge amount of tubing in the cab, I couldn't fit a seat or steering wheel. And there is an illegal connection in the back of the cab where the window pillars fit from bottom to top. I would like the mud guards to be a bit rounder, but hey, it's made out of square bricks! Other than these little bug bears, I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I hope you like it too and I welcome constructive criticism. Unfortunately I don't have the means to shoot a video. I could do a quick one on my phone, but I'll have to do it next week now. Thanks for looking, I'll let the pictures do the rest of the work!

New software by BrickLink - Stud.io
Oliver 79 replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've just downloaded this. It seems incredibly slow. I generally design technic models, so when I scroll down to the technic parts in the building palate, it takes about 3 minutes to load them. Then when I scroll down the parts, it takes another 3 minutes to load them. I'm running it on Windows 10 with 64 bit operating system, 6.00 gb ram. I can't believe the programme requires more.... EDIT: It just keeps crashing...... Maybe I'll stick to LDD, but I'll certainly keep an eye on this. -
[MOC] Ferrari 308 GTSi

Awesome build . I'd love to see inside it. Too bad it's a private commission. -
This is so cool!

You should have enough space between the bevel gears to put a 1L beam or longer to stop them popping out. I assume the two bevel gears are on the same axle? If they are, then that is hard coupling. Hope this helps :)

Very impressive. The attention to detail is mind blowing. -
[TC10] Backhoe
Oliver 79 replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Absolutely fantastic! It's one the best backhoes I've seen. My only criticism, like others have said, is the back hoe could be beefed-up a bit. Other than that, I love it. I could only dream about making such a model, but it's inspired me to try! -
Very cool! I love the road and vehicles too.

Thanks. Thank you. Unfortunately, I didn't check the red arches price on Bricklink before I decided on red! Still, I like the outcome.

HI guys, I made the Ford GT with a twist! I gave it the 8 wide treatment. Thanks for the LDD file. It was a nice build. My only gripe is the front is a bit flimsy. My modification made it even more flimsy! To me the front looks a little boxy, but I can't find a better solution. Ideas always welcome.

Greetings brickers. I'm usually found lurking in the Technic forum. But recently my interests have led me to this rather fascinating forum, full of all sorts of wonders! The project I would like to show here started with the 4404 "Land Busters" set. I saw one for sale on one of those well known auction sites, but it was very dirty looking and I didn't have the necessary funds at the time. So I decided to build one out of the available parts I had at hand. All that was missing where a few red panels and arches. A small Bricklink order later, and I was building! I loved the shape and feel of the official model, but I was upset by the lack of steering. It soon became my mission to add the features that I felt it lacked. It was actually a bit more tricky than I imagined due to lack of space in the body work. The project was abandoned and I went back to building strictly Technic models. And then the Class xerion came out. suddenly it hit me like a slap to the face. 4404 monster truck with the class tires! It was perfect. all the mechanics could be underneath the body without the worry of spoiling the look of the 4404. So without further ado, I introduce to you, the 4404 monster...... Other than being red instead of yellow, I wanted to keep the body as close to the original as possible. I kept the opening doors, hood and back and tried not to mess with the interior too much. But because of the modified chassis, the seats suffered a little and the foot peddles had to go. I cant help feeling that the side view makes me want to shift the body forwards a little. The middle is centered, but I just can't shake the feeling....... I changed out the old engine, and put in a Technic one that is connected to all four wheels via two differentials. I think it gives a slight realism to the otherwise static show engine it had before. Here's a close up of the interior. The suspension works wonderfully, even with all the weight of the bricks. I used the large shocks and tweaked the angles of them to get the best feel. It's nice and soft, but still firm enough not to sag. I'd love to see it crush some cars and bounce over dirt ramps! I added four wheel steering, which gave me a bit of a headache to implement. It works, but there is a lot of back lash from the amount of U joints and CV joints it passes through. The black gear in the back is the HOG wheel. I decided to use a linkage system rather than a rack and pinion. This helped with the space issues I had, but turns out the reality is not so good. I may change this at some point, but I can't see an alternative at the moment. Any suggestions are always welcome! Thanks for looking. I hope you like it. Constructive criticism and comments welcome.

Very cool! It reminds me of when my brother and I where young. We used to make "little people" buildings and space stations using 1x1 round bricks for people. I'd love to see a whole town made from these.

Lobst3r, a walking robot
Oliver 79 replied to Aswin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's an awesome machine! Did you model the legs in linkage yourself? I've just downloaded it myself, but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.- 15 replies

[MOC] Street/Drift car
Oliver 79 replied to HorcikDesigns's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice car and cool video! Those things look dangerous. But strangely intriguing.... :-S -
It is a tricky debate indeed. Personally I would want Model Team left in the Technic forum. If you put it in with special themes, I think it would get lost. I do drift outside the Technic forum occasionally, but mainly to look in Lego Town. I'm a bit torn by Edwin's ships. There is no doubt they are very impressive. I like looking at them on the Technic forum. They have PF. But are they Technic? I had the same dilemma posting this a while back; http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=123744

(Help) outriggers
Oliver 79 replied to Oliver 79's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Such a simple solution! I'll give that a go. My only worry is the space I have behind the wheels are limited. I can live without the model being lifted. It's the authentic look that's more important to me. And yes you are right, keeping them from sticking out too much when retracted is another headache I'm trying to overcome! Thanks for your input. -
Hi there. Welcome to EB! It's a difficult question to answer. All the parts I regularly use come from official sets. You have a couple of decent kits in your list which have an excellent selection of parts. Personal, if I had your budget, I would by the 42054 Class and maybe the 42054 volvo EW60E. The only Bricklinking I do is for specific parts for other peoples MOC's. Or I'll make the model in LDD to see what I need. Do you use Rebrickable? This will tell you the parts you are missing for other MOC's. It's like RohanBeckett already said, "what do you want to make?"

Hello folks. I've been working on this project for some time now. I'm trying to make a huddig 1060c. My problem is the outriggers. Because they are at a funny angle, I can't figure out how to mount them. This is what I have so far (pink). Obviously it's very flimsy. It was more to get an idea where to put them. My main problem is making them strong enough to lift the model, while staying sturdy. Linkages are not a strong point of mine! Does anyone have any ideas? They don't need to be motorized, I plan on having pneumatic functions. They also need a locking system so they have some functionality. This is the LDD if anyone wants to take a look. Many thanks guys.
