"They must have found another way in. Something we missed"
Andy D replied to Missing Brick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
How well I remember that scene from the movie. Using the dialog is a great teaser for the full MOC. I am looking forward to seeing more of the MOC. Did you do Ripley as well? Andy D -
The more I look at this set, the more I like it! It will make a great center piece, like a town square for my Winter Village. Now to arrange the buildings around the WV Market, Christmas Tree from the Toy Store and the Ice Skateing Rink from the Bakery. I also plan to make a smaller version of my church (St. Mary's of The LEGO Brick) to fit in with my Winter Village. My WInter Village is really growing, and Christmas is my favorite season for so very many reasons, among them is decorating. Andy D

With a gun like that there will be no evidence that the rabbit ever existed. Great MOC! I hope to see it in bricks. Andy D

Discussion Topic: Should there be a 2 storey modulars series.
Andy D replied to Legoofmyleg's topic in LEGO Town
I've been thinking more about the "Creator-Modulars". I believe that an option to combine 2 or more Creator buildings into a modular could be a viable option as well. I would also like to see a modular series between the Mini-Modulars and full size modulars. So we could have the Mini-modulars, Midi-modulars and full modulars. The Midi modulars could just be an option within Creator 3 in 1 buildings and would not require rhe introduction of a new series, just aditional instructions for an existing series. Andy D -
Discussion Topic: Should there be a 2 storey modulars series.
Andy D replied to Legoofmyleg's topic in LEGO Town
Rather than restate what the previous posters said, I will just add a "me to" about what they said. Particularly with integrating with the current modulars and interesting build techniques. Something that could be done, I don't know how easily would be to make one of the options on the larger Creater 3 in1 buildings a modular option. That way it could be both a Creater 3 in 1 and a smaller modular. I would buy that as a smaller modular. Andy D -
I am getting ready to purchase a new, or redo my LEGO nativity scene. What I really need is a new vail for Mary. I found a Mary on eBay, but I am not particularly fond of the vail. The Mary I found is from Minifig.com they eBay listing is Custom Lego Holiday Gift The Nativity Mary | eBay The vail is not bad, but I would like something a little more traditional. Can someone recommend a theme I can search on Bricklink to find a different vail? If I can’t find something I like better, I may just go with this one. Thanks, Andy D

From what I have read in the book so far I really like it. I can see myself using the book until it is ragged, so think I may have to buy another copy of be set just to have a pristine book to put away for me, and an extra set of he white parts can't hurt either. I see myself using the ebook on my iPad when I am relaxing and be print copy at my build desk. The more I get into his set, the more impressed I am by it. I agree, this set is not cheap, but I think that anyone who has any intest in it at all and any interest in learning some new architectural information/techniques (which should help with MOCing) and can scrape the $$'s together should get it. This set is way more than a book and a bunch (or a few) parts. Just MHO, YMMV. Andy D

I hope you are wrong about the error. I believe that there are two types of people who will download this book... 1. People like me who want both the book in paper and electrons. 2. People who cannot afford to buy the set but want the information. Either way LEGO will sell parts. Either this set, on PAB or through the secondary market. I also believe having he book available as a PDF promotes a lot of good-will from LEGO, which is something I believe they do very well. But just in case caprberry is right, get it while it's hot. Wow! Thanks rollermonkey! I would not have thought to look for the book there, nor would I have thought LEGO would have put it there. I continue to be very, very impressed with LEGO as a company. Now i have a beautiful reference book that came with the set and I also have the book on my iPad for convenience. I totally agree with a 4.5/5 as a score for this set. I plan to get some round small and large cones and other round pieces and other small pieces to enhance the set for building. I also agree with the bargin, $100 in parts and $100 for the book! Andy D

I just picked this box (set?) up tonight. I won't have time to do much with it until next week though. The first thing I noticed is how heavy it is. It feels heavier than a 2000 piece modular, when I opened it I found out why... it is because the book is heavier than the parts. Of course I bought it for the book as I am sure I already have all the parts. I am looking forward to reading and learning more. Oh yeah, I looked on Bricklink and eBay and folks have it already listed for $180 to $200+ Will people really buy it at those prices? Why not just go to Amazon or direct from LEGO Shop @ Home? Andy D P.S. Thanks for the great review. It is the reason I bought it so early. I to look for more open-ended sets from LEGO.

Nice storage, very nice collection of 1 x 1's. With a collection like that you should have no trouble having or finding the piece you want, when you need it. Is that multiple Plano boxes? I just transitioned away from Plano boxes, but your solution shows me that the Plano boxes can have a place in a multiple, different types of storage containers in a sorting and storage system. I keep reading this thread for inspiration, and my sorting and storage system is ever evolvilng. Andy D

Very nice! I am also a fan of your blue columns, they really do a lot for the building. I lkie how the front looks so nce nd the back looks like a service area in an alleyway. Looking forward to your next creation. Andy D

I did not get the impression that the arches were a marketing point any more tha when Jamie introduced the Tower Bridge and said you get some 500 tan cheese slopes. I for one am glad they reintroduced the dblue arch, now it will be available on PAB as well as in the set. I am tired of seeing the arch for sale fo $9 to $10 each. Now it will be more available for a much more reasonable cost. For me it was not marketing as much as just putting some people on notice.. Cheap dblue arches coming! Just MHO, YMMV Andy D And I still plan to get multiples of the set.... One to build, one to mod, one for parts!

When did your collection reach critical mass?
Andy D replied to Arigomi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think ShaydDeGrai has the only reasonable solution! In order th have enough room for all the LEGO we collect we each need a "LEGO room TARDIS". Nothing else can contain our collections. The LEGO collection for each of us will reach critical mass at some time. Start saving up for your LEGO room TARDIS, start saving today, that's what I'm doing! I figure my collection is probably going to grow at the rate of 12,000 to 15,000 pieces per year even if I am conservative with my purchases. Thanks to ShaydDeGrai for the wonderful idea/suggestion! Andy D -
This is the system I am currently trying out. A combination of all these things. My Zip-Lock bags are in plastic bins in my cabintes, so hidden from view. My crates in a closet are Glad food storage bins in the closet on shelves and I use 2 Akron Mills storage cabinets on my build desk. So far, so good, but I've only just started. I will have to check back in a few months to let you know how it's working. I agree, I think a LEGO Room TARDIS is the "only" reasonable long term solution. Andy D

Jluckhaupt --- well,it's been over a week. How did you tell her? How did it go? Andy D

This is really a very nice reimagining of the HH. Is what you presented so far bricks or LDD? Either way, quite nice. I really like both bay windows and the new chimneys. I assume you started with a 10228. How many additional parts were required for the outside? Thanks for sharing this and please do keep us informed. Andy D

LEGO is a much less expensive hobby than a boat (unless you remodel a room to build LEGO), I don't know about golf, but a boat could definately be a much more expensive hobby. Also with LEGO you spend more time at home than either boating or golf. Like TomLego, my LEGO hobby didn't reallly take off until after I was 60. My wife looks at LEGO much as I do... An art form. Just tell your wife you need to express your artistic needs, and that LEGO bricks are the ultimate reuseable art supply. Most adults who look at the things I have on display wheither MOCs or sets are really amazed how far LEGO has come. Many people are used to the primary colors and simple forms usually assocated with LEGO. Lots of good ideas in this thread, just pick what you believe your wife would best respond to, or just buy a modular, build it and say... Look honey... LEGO. Good luck and enjoy your hobby, Andy D

Your modulars always amaze me. So clean, so much detail, such good color combinations. This one is no exception, the town home with these colors would look right at home on the beach. I really like the balcony on the top floor in the back, but I can see what you mean about maybe being a little to abrupt, softening it somehow would make it just perfect. Keep on amazing us with your wonderful modulars. Andy D

These are just outstanding! I really like the E.T., Star Wars and Indiana Jones posters, Maybe it is because I liked the movies better than PoTC. The Aliens and Harry Potter are also quite nice. I can't quite make out what he one just to the right of Harry Potter is, what uis it? Was this purley a graphics exercise? Or did you build vignettes, then photo rearrange for he posters? Or just how? You have really peaked my curosity just how it was acomplished. No matter how, I also am looking forward to seeing them on your Palace Cinema. Thanks for sharing this. Andy D

Well, I don't have a scale that is on the US Government restricted list, but I did find a fairly nice digital kitchen scale that can be swithed among multiple units (grams, ounces and pounds). Weighs up to 11 pounds. Bricklink has the weight of individual bricks of each type, but you must look up each brick. Eleven days for a doable project. You really are an optimist, to me sorting looks like a never ending project, but I guess that's all part of the obesession... er hobby. Andy D

Very nice "construction site"! Even down to the construction cones (very clever). The crane an bulldozer are also fantastic. There is a lot to be said for the Micropolis scale. This appears to be a different scale than things like the mini modulars. I guess the Microplois Standard could also be used to showcase the mini modulars as well. Thanks for sharing this (and your other Micripolis builds). Andy D

The question for me was not somuch "how" I found Eurobricks, but why was I hunting. Back in 2010 when I was more interested in Mindstorms and Technique I was hunting for information on the new 8043 Excavator and I found lots of info here. I soon discovered the Cafe Corner and my interest in Modular buildings soon followed. Andy D
