LEGO Area space design - Crowd Sourcing request
Andy D replied to ie10421's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You do have the room, and I think an island for building is a great idea! You might even think of putting 2 of your tables back to back to give you a great, large center build space. Then maybe use another table on a wall to put more of your most frequently used inventory, within easy reach. TV is a good idea, I use one mainly for background noise and short diversion when building or sorting. For decorating, maybe some art you find enjoyable and inspirational. Mirrors strategically placed can make a closed in space seem more open. Most importantly you need something to focus your eyes on when you look up from your build or other LEGO activity, this will help to rest your eyes give you something else to think about, so you can get back to your build refreshed. Closest LEGO store.... 15 min Biggest LEGO store close to me, Downtown Disney Anaheim, CA... 1 hour LEGOland CA... 1.5 hours I'm in the center of LEGO heaven for So. Cal! (which keeps my credit cards in constant use) But as I tell my wife "at least I never get an invite to the LEGO Black Friday event" she finds that very comforting. Andy D

LEGO Area space design - Crowd Sourcing request
Andy D replied to ie10421's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow! Great space! I really like how the walls are all white. And the studio type lighting, it will give a well lit build space. I would suggest one table on the 10 foot wall and one on the 12 foot wall. For me I am planning to use a couple of my Akro mills cabinets on my build table within easy access, put your most commonly used parts in these cabinets. For your rather sizable collection of parts and stuff I would suggest organizing that on your built-in shelves organized so you can find what you need for projects. Maybe use the third table in the area across from your storage area to give a place for parts gathering from your inventory. You could put some display shelves on the wall on the side of your build space to display ome models for inspiration. Something not directly LEGO related, I would put something on the wall above your most frequently used build space to give you a feeling of openness, maybe a large framed poster of an outdoor scene, maybe a mirror somewhere. Don't forget the design elements just for astetics to make you want to spend time there in comfort. I hope something here is of some help. That is going to be one great studio, I a looking forward to photos of he finished project. Andy D -
Your trucks are incredible! The amount of detail is amazing for such small creations. I did not think that level of detail was possible in such a small scale. I look forward to more. Andy D

Do you guys buy multiple of the same sets for play?
Andy D replied to Chri5kng's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I havebeen buying multiples of some sets (especilly modulars) so I can build one as is, and have another for MODding or parts. Some LOTR sets I bought multiples of just or parts and MODding. Oh, yeah, I bought 2 of the Haunted House just because I like it so much, I will probibly make it a modular. For me buying 2 copies is getting more common for sets I like. Andy D -

LDD and Digital tools: When is a MOC a MOC?
Andy D replied to pinioncorp's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am firmly on the side of credit where credit is due. I guess I was not clear, I thought the discusion was not just on digital vs. bricks MOCs, but when is a MOC a MOC? If one borrows a lot, and gives credit for the inspiration is it still a MOC, no matter whether digital or bricks? To me it doesn't matter, digital or bricks, a MOC is still a MOC. Andy D -
Very nice! This is something else cool about this forum. People build things modeled after things that othrs (like me) didn't know existed. I really like all the diffrent levels, and you color choice is very pleasing to look at. Looking forward to more. Andy D

LDD and Digital tools: When is a MOC a MOC?
Andy D replied to pinioncorp's topic in General LEGO Discussion
How about a structure (for example) where one borrows a window idea here, a door idea there, a wall idea somewhere else and puts it together with inspiration from a real building somewhere else. I guess that is still a MOC (I think so), I think all artist "borrow" some. Where is the line in the sand, how much can we borrow? Does it matter as long as we try to give credit? Andy D -
Queens Bridge Victorian Station by brickbuilderspro?
Andy D replied to Locomotive Annie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I don't know which came first, the "Queen's Bridge Station" or the one at Disneyland in California. This one reminded me of something, so I did an image search an found some images of the Disneyland, Main Street Station and they look remarkably similar. It really doesn't matter, this one looks great! Andy D -
I have a feeling that buying it eBay or Amazon will wind up being cheaper. You migt try looking at some pricing on BL the add in shipping as you will most likey have to purchase from BL several stores. I think this imight be your forum a well. Andy D

The EN. Is still available at only a little over double the original cost. When I BL'ed a Cafe Corner they were still available for bertween $400 - $500, I spent at least $350 on BL and I had to substitute parts that were either not available in quantity or cost more than I felt was reasonable. As much as I learned/enjoyed the experience, if I had it to do agin I would most likely fork over the cash and get it in a box. Back to your EN dilema, if you want it, get it. Playng the waiting game may work, but there's always a chance that it won't and prices for the whole set will just keep going up. Just MHO, Andy D

Welcome to Ameribricks.com - Major Changes Coming!
Andy D replied to Shadows's topic in Forum Information and Help
Without fanning the flames... If we can all refrain from responding to this thread for a few days, it will all go away and the banner will revert to the March 30 banner... Just MHO Andy D -
Great bookends! I have been putting together some thoughts for a Cafe Corner inspired bookend set. Back to yours, they are really well done, looks like you go in one stargate, and come out the outer, after going through books. You Abydos MOC remains one of my favorite as well. Just ine question... Are your bookends weighted? Andy D

Very nice! Huge! Blur the focus to get rid of the studs, put it in a dark room and wait for the ships to arrive. What a wonderful piece of work! Andy D

Great modular! The colors go really well together. I would not have thought of the lime with he dark red, but I really the the result. The upper floor (I assume by no coincedence) is very reminisancent of the Cafe Corner (seems to be every modulr building fan's favorite). Great result! Looking forward to your next! Andy D
