Paid Membership with perks? Any interest?
Andy D replied to Siegfried's topic in Forum Information and Help
I do not think you should just flat out remove the adds. I have subscribed to sites where subscribers got an add-free site and others got adds. The adds can help make up for those who choose to not subscribe, you pay with $ or you get adds which pays as well, either way everyone contributes. Maybe EB should be a tiered site for subscribers and non-subscribers, also that would encourage more subscribers. Just MHO, YMMV I'll pay. Andy D -
Paid Membership with perks? Any interest?
Andy D replied to Siegfried's topic in Forum Information and Help
I am willing to pay to play. I don't mind most of he adds, like most sites I visit the adds have just become "white noise" and ignorable. I would prefer a donation box, and not a monthly auto-pay. I don't like auto-pay as it is just too hard to discontinue when I lose interest in a thing. From Eurobricks I get the value similar to a magazine (only better), so a yearly donation similar to a high quality magazine would be good, maybe $30 per year, as high as $60 per year. I do not feel it is right to have a few pay and thousands use EB though. Maybe the paying subscribers should get something in addition to removal of adds, this might encourage more to pay-to-play. Maybe premium contests or raffles for subscribers or something else. Put me down as a supporter. Andy D -
Very nice! Nice neighborhood restaurant. Looking forward to more of it. Andy D

Excellent! The best yet! This world make an excellent Christmas set add-on to the Winter Village. Good luck in the contest. (I see first place here) Andy D

Fun day with my family! Parisian Restaurant Maybe some architecture sets Duplicates of any of the modulars Anything on my Amazon Wishlist. Andy D

This is very nice! I just ordered the Big Ben today. When I get it and build it I may just come back here for inspiration on MOD. BTW: I really like the boat. It fits in so nicely. Thanks, Andy D

My order finally went through. I checked and they have charged (or pre-charged) my credit card. Maybe the mad rush on he S@H site has settled down. I just ordered a few Architecture sets. Now besides the modulars, and Winter Village I'm starting to get involved with the architecture sets. LEGO got me yet again.... Andy D

Phones overloaded also. I got my order in before the website went down, but it did not finish processing. Got an order number and message to call customer service and I got an "all circuits busy, try later message" Oh, well... Andy D

Wow! You put a lot of work into this and it shows. The Haunted House was already a great set, but you made it better. How long did this take you? Thanks for sharing this, Andy D

This just struck me as funny... I hope I did not offend anyone. Back to LEGO... At one time I heard that the top 25 or so spenders per store are invited to the event. My wife is glad each year that I do not get an invite. To be honest by this time each year I am usually all spent out anyway (I have all the sets I want of the year's releases). Andy D

Look at al the colors! Look at all the parts! Build something! I look at LEGO parts as art supplies. While I do keep some sets assembled, I keep them displayed. If they are not on display they are in pieces to be used for other things. Break them down, build something! Andy D

Buying a digital camera for MOC photography
Andy D replied to Brickadeer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have been using the Panasonic Lumix DMC - ZS (or TZ) series "Travel Zoom" cameras for several years. They have good zoom, macro mode and video mode. There is a table on this page: http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Sensitivity-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B00728ZBA2/ref=pd_cp_p_0 on Amazon that shows cameras fro $119 to $300. Andy D -
260 categories! I have about as many pieces, but I may only have 10 - 20 categories. Even with a spreadsheet just thinking about 260 categories makes my head hurt. I am glad you found a system that works for you, I hope mine works as well for me. Andy D

Very clever! Nice addition to the Winter Village Market. What would it look like to have a couple of red elements in the garland in the front? Andy D

Action Themes Halloween: Monster Bash Voting

3) 1 point 7) 1 point 8) 1 point My votes, Andy D -
Very nice fun MOC.! Great for Halloween. I guess the safest thing to do is to not only stay away from drunk zombies, but drunks at sporting events and on steamboats. Thanks for the fun fact about about drunk zombies ;);) Andy D

MOCs...detail as you go, or when you're done?
Andy D replied to punkkid364's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For me the details usually happen as I go, or if I see something the end I will go back and take some apart to add details. Andy D -
I really like these sets! I like steampunk, but I haven't taken be time to try to figure one out. I second that you should sell the instructions. Maybe open a Briclkink store and sell instructions and the parts required, I did not say sell sets as I am not sure of legal issues. No matter what you do, keep on building these great MOCs! Andy D

Do you build Lego models without using the instructions?
Andy D replied to henrysunset's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Every now and then when I have a set around 200 pieces I also do a "puzzle build". I agree, I is a fun way to learn and experience more. Andy D -
Oh, congratulations! You mean finished for now... of course sorting LEGO is never really finished I found some more sets that I needed to disassemble today, so... This is what I got after 8 hours (thats’s 8 hours over three days) of presorting unsorted bricks and disassembling 5 assembled sets and presorting all those bricks. I got 10 Glad entree food storage containers with various amounts of bricks, two 15 quart storage containers which contained 4.5 1 gallon freezer bags of bricks. Now I figure it may take at least 3 hours per freezer bag to to a complete sort maybe 4 hours (or more) for the mixed sort bag (didn’t fit into a category). I sorted by bricks, slopes, plates and misc which included minifig accessories, doors, door frames, hinges, special use plates, tiles and who knows what else??? Anyway does this milestone look familiar to anyone from your own sort and store process? 8 hours of presorting by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Two 15 quart tubs by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr 4 1/2 1 gallon freezer bags by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Well as they say... Forever Sorting... It's "A Love Story" Now to rest from sorting. I will sort again another day! Andy D
