  1. No. The box art is great, but I really don't need the clutter. Andy D
  2. Most of us have a LEGO collection. You my friend, have an addiction. Good luck managing your addiction/collection. Lots of nice sets there! If you build one set a day, how long will it take to build them all? Andy D
  3. Yep, those buggers just seem to spread on their own.;) Making some progress each week is the way to go. I currently have much of my unsorted collection in my build space, that is my incintive to get them sorted, then I will allow myself to build something as a reward. Week before last I built 2 of my Architecture pieces. Sorting is one thing... Getting organized is quite another. Talking about dissappearing parts, kind of reminds me of the sock that dissappears in the clothes dryer, you put 2 in and only one comes out. My hope is that by sorting and organizing I can avoid buying pieces I already have and instead concentrate on parts I need for a build. Andy D
  4. When I saw the first grainy pictures of this set I wanted it. When I saw the hi-rez pictures I liked it even more. Now the close-up video just confirms my desire. The building size is nice, the price-point is great, the piece count is just right. I look forward to this set and I hope this is just a start for more similar Creator buildings to come. I'm in! Andy D
  5. More sorting! The more I sort and try to get organized the more ovewhelmed I feel. 13 hours sorting in the lat 4 days. Andy D
  6. Not just today, but for the last three days... Just sitting at my workstation sorting, sorting and then sorting some more! Maybe in a week or so I will ave a better handle on what I have so I can avoid some trips to bricklink for parts. While sorting I noticed that LEGO has just about every kind of weapon imaginable from canons to bazookas and flick-fire missles, from bow and arrow to blasters, every kind of knife, sword and spear I have seen or can even imagine, but... Not one church. I am not trying to start something here... please just don't. This was just an observation, not a social commentary. Andy D
  7. Welcome to the party that is Eurobricks, I am sure you will have a great time here! Andy D
  8. I really like the steampunk design, however it is kind of large. It looks like it could be a fun build, but I just don't know yet. I may have to wait until I see one to make my final decision. This is rather unusual for me, either I like a set and really want it, or just don't care about the set. This time I'm sitting right on the middle of the fence, could go either way. Andy D
  9. You can credit or blame the store managers and supervision with good or bad service. Bad service, to me indicates poor management allowing employees to not care. Good service indicates good service oriented managers, hiring, training and encouraging people to provide good service. It all boils down to the quality of the store manager. The LEGO stores I go to have all provided service above and beyond my expectations. Andy D

    Coffee van

The I agree with LT. But it is very nice. BTW: what country is this coffee van used in? I notice the driver is on the left side, in most countries that would put driver at the center of the road, but the service is also on he left which would generally put it in traffic. Overall nice van, even the color pattern is nice for a coffee truck. Andy D
  11. Very nice entry! Good luck in the competition. I really like all the little details. Andy D
  12. Your instincts seem pretty good. I just checked Amazon and eBay and there are around 200 sets for sale at $250 and up. I wonder if anyone is actially selling them or just listing them? I have 2 sets but I bought them for me, not or sale. Andy D
  13. I thought you woukd say that... But what about a drying agent so the LEGO doesn't have wter pots after soaking md air drying? Andy D
  14. Well done rriggs! I really like contemporary and Mid-Century Modern architecture. This is very contemporary and great! One thing I really appreciate is the contemporary look without looking "cold" as some contemporary architecture can look. Thanks for sharing this! Andy D
  15. Tkatt mentioned using hydrogen peroxide as a drying agent after a soak in dishwashing liguid an water, this got me to thinking... What else could be used as a drying gent to eliminate spots. How about... Vinegar Automatic dishwasher drying agent such as "Jet Dry" What else could be used s a drying agent for a bulk of LEGO? Thanks, Andy D BTW: eurotrash... Is it multiple smoking cats, or a smoking "cat house". These are two entirely different houses. One is a home with cats, he other is a place of business.
  16. Sorry to drag an old thread out of the dusty places... But I find myself in possession of a "gift" of 10 to 15 pounds of used LEGO. I really want to clean an sanatize it before I integrate it into my inventory. Someone mentioned using peroxide and Oxy as a soak (after a soak in water and dishwshing soap). My question is how much Oxy per ammount of peroxide? Thanks, Andy D BTW: folks be careful what you post, I almost spewed reading about the "smoking cats", some of us may have a cup of coffee while reading EB.
  17. I keep mine flat in 15 quart serelite containers. Andy D
  18. You may need to strengthen the baseplates (which will necesitate disassembly of the bottom floor) to make each model easier to move. I was looking at strengthening my baseplates on my modulars (haven't done it yet) and someone recommended I look at he Micropolos modular standard. It is for a smaller building size, but the baseplate ideas can be adapted to the "full size" modulars. The URL is... http://twinlug.com/micropolis-micro-city-standard/ Good luck with your city. Andy D
  19. I have had good experiences as well. How long ago did you submit the mising piece report to LEGO? Andy D
  20. Very nice! I really like the interesting design and part selection. The ivy in back is a nice touch. The front of the building is very well done and the detailing on the back is totaly unexpected. Even the illusive seagull. ;) ;) Andy D
  21. I believe a positive is in order, afterall, he did refund. I would mention the confustin in the comment. With Bricklink I believe it is usually better if problems are resolved via email. Afterall, most BL sellers are just hobbiests trying to fund their hobby and we all make mistakes. To avoid issues like his when I clean out a seller I always order a few more from a differentseller as it is usually much cheaper to buy a few extras than to pay more shipping. In fact I usually order more of most parts I order just to add to my inventory. Andy D
  22. Here is a video by Jamie that shows how to do angled walls, which can work wih your doors. Look at about 1:40 min. into the video. Check out this video on YouTube: IHIH Andy D
  23. LEGO is like Christmas decorations. I was once in a Costco (big box warehouse store) by the Christmas decorations area and I heard a young man (maybe late 20ish) saying to the young woman he was with (maybe his wife)... "Don't you have enougn Christmas crap?". I thought "you can never have too much Christmas crap, err decorations". Kind of like LEGO... You can never have too much LEGO. (well maybe not) I've not approached that yet. So, kind of hard to have too much LEGO. There's always that set you just have to have, or those pieces you must have to complete your latest MOC. If someone figures out how the normal collector/hobbiest can have enough LEGO, let me know. Andy D
  24. Yeah, I think you are right. It's hard to get white balance right sometimes. Strange that the photo of he box came out white, but tge set did not. Must be partly due to the background. Andy D
  25. Is the set in white bricks (like on the box)? Or tan like the photo of the built set? I think it looks much better in white, make me think of a marble monument. Gotta have this one! Andy D
