  1. What's in a name? A rock band named Petra has a by that name. Are you ready? Alright, then, On your mark, Get set, GO! ( )Ok, here's what's in my name: Seen this show? Especially the Super Sloppy version of it? Probably watched every episode that was aired when Fox Network had it on broadcast TV back in '88. Family DD, also. My family never had cablevision at the time. It was a favorite show of mine, along with This Old House. What a combo! Now, I watch almost 0 TV. I built a DD set out of my LEGO bricks back in '98; too bad I never took a pic of it. Have not built any more DD-based MOCs yet. No, wait, I did: Joe Vig visits the Schleim Factory. I have seen a few episodes of DD 2000 when visiting those that had Nick GaS. My nickname is loosely based on it. I took it on sometime in Fall '04. I've considered other variations: Gaklander (Based on "The land flowing with slime and gak", a friend at church in '03 made that up; a parody of "The land flowing with milk and honey".), and others I could not remember at this time. Some people called me Slimer (of Ghostbusters fame), and Splatter. My splavatar (portmanteau of splat and avatar) is a splat of (insert your favorite sloppy green substance here) on the Physical Challenge floor. In case you've wondered, no, it has nothing to do paintballs. Never even handled a paintball gun. (Someone, somewhere asked me.) Now is the Slime to give it a Splat! It's Splat-astic! Totally Splat-acular! Edit on Feb. 4, 2015: Fixed the broken Obstacle Course music link.
  2. I twice searched Bricklink for that, just to see what it is, and BL both times said, "No Item(s) were found. Please try again!". I'm doubting it's a real set now.
  3. H2Only. If I'm hungry, I'll leave the LEGO room, and eat elsewhere.
  4. And whack 'em over the head with a Bionicle tooth-studded, boat weight-filled LEGO Technic club?
  5. I've used this to rate my used bricks when I sold 'em on BL.
  6. With those teeth, that shark looks more ferocious than in the original poster.
  7. After walking around in that gray world, then stepping into the LEGO Room, it's time to cue some music from the band Out of the grey.
  8. Or use the brown track only in hidden places, like inside tunnels. Edit: I'm talking to Vector Trains.
  9. Even as a kid, I avoided clone brands. Yes, I know, you're talking about toys in general, not just clones. This is an opportunity to teach your kid about how banks and money works. "But, son, only a small amount is mine" "Of course, I could borrow some, but it will cost me (interest) when I repay it". "Hey kid, consider mowing a lawn for someone Then, you'll have some Bricklink/eBay shopping money." There it is: Lessons about bank accounts, loans, and earning cash. Give it a well-educated Splat!
  10. If it's like Redbox, they have your credit card number. so if you keep the set beyond a specified length of time, you'll be charged a Late Fee of sorts, every X days you do not return the set. After Y late fees have been charged, the set's yours; like rent-to-own. The late fees would add up to some value greater than the cost of the set, like in some other rent-to-own schemes. I never checked out the service, so I'm only speculating. If a set is returned with missing pieces, you'll probably be charged the replacement piece cost. The company will probably order replacements via Bricklink. If you find a missing piece and return it, there's likely some sort of refund thing.
  11. Did you say a few years ago, something along the lines that those studless bricks were an experiment, the results of which were put in those sets under their "Throw nothing away" policy? IIRC, you theorized that these were "too advanced", and so were officially not produced. That would sure explain this oddity. Today, those studless bricks would probably look right at home among cheese slopes and tiles. How ironic.
  12. Bart + Darth Maul headpiece = Bart Maul.
  13. That must the the biggest Why question of all.
  14. That would be more of a Typo than an Error or Oddity. Image typo, if that is what to call it.
  15. Self-checkout machines weigh everything after scanning. "Please place item in bagging area", the machine says. The bagging area is built on a large scale. A barcode-switched set would most surly raise a red flag, and therefore, would never leave the checkout area, much less make it out the door. Self-checkouts are common where I live (western Washington State), and probably throughout the US also. More likely, a traditional checkout with a new clerk at a busy time, like in the afternoon when everyone gets off work, and goes shopping on the way home, or on a holiday.
  16. The differences, such as the solid vs. hallow tubes, are likely due to molds simply being replaced as they wore out, wearing out at different rates, and so new molds being used alongside old ones, resulting in a variety of mold variation.
  17. When I used to sell bricks on Bricklink, I used this for grading my used bricks. (Scroll down to "Numeric Grading Criteria for Single Elements", near the bottom).
  18. Saw this today on DRB: http://www.darkroast...nstruction.html Warning: If you like viewing pix and vids of crazy random stuff, DRB is an extremely addicting site!
  19. Me too. Hidden Valley Ranch, to be specific.
  20. This takes the cake!
  21. So, Chemist = Pharmacy in some parts of the world? And I was thinking it was a chemical supply.
  22. One thing about 42Km of LEGO track: The whole World will hear about it! And you won't even need a computer, TV, radio, or newspaper. Even the tribesmen deep in the Amazon jungle will get the news. Which translate into more brand awareness for TLG. Then they better get ready for (by then not quite) unexpected surge in demand for LEGO Sets, especially Trains. Yes, I read the above posts; it's not 42Km, it's 42 point 195 meters. No where near 1Km, let alone 42Km. Or is everyone else reading it right, and I got it wrong? 42m seems like child's play.
  23. The flag would probably look better if it was made of 3 1x2 plates, though, that would be a very little flag. 6 1x3 plates (2 of each color) would be better proportioned, and have a more accurate aspect ratio. Instead of the top and bottom 1x3 plates, use a 1x1 plate with clip + a 1x2 plate, so it can be attach to the pole. And, like Dat Lego asked, is it Germany or Belgium?
  24. AFOL = Adult Fan Of LEGO. MOC = My Own Creation. SNOT = Studs Not On Top. CMF = Collectible MiniFigs.
  25. Looks like you got the screenshots by taking pix with a camera. Did you know you can use the Print Screen key? Then start up Paint (or a similar program), and click Edit > Paste. The screenshot should then appear. Save it in .JPG (if it has a bunch of pictures, like what you're showing us) or .PNG (best for shots with mostly solid colors, with or w/o text, and with few or no pictures) format. AFAIK, the Print Screen key takes a pixel-for-pixel image of what's on the screen. Including S@H oddness.
