Love these, might have to build them to go with my mixer :)
-
Got one last friday at the local Lego store. Built over the weekend. Love the interior furnishings, some clever designs there (crib, etc). The outside is bland compared to modulars, but it looks like the "real thing" so can't really complain. Just tedious to build. Main complaint is that the walls with the house-garage pin connection are WEAK. Most of the time when I try to attach the two, one or more of the walls collapse and need rebuilt. You pretty much have to push from inside the house and garage to attach them.

Why are people fighting to pay more than it is worth?
mostlytechnic replied to Vee's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's buyers who don't know that they'll be able to buy it direct from Lego in a few days, or otherwise are uninformed. Same as people who pay through the nose at Christmas for stuff, although then there's a time crunch and sold out issues to "justify" it. Basically, most people aren't hardcore Lego fans and don't know. The simpsons house is selling for almost $300 shipped on Amazon, so it's not just an ebay thing. -
Random quick car question for the Europeans amongst us...
mostlytechnic replied to mostlytechnic's topic in Community
Thanks - that's exactly the sort of info I was looking for. Basically, in a tire design discussion, it was stated that US tires are typically marketed as long life - 40,000 miles or more. The rep from a big tire company said their Euro section designed very differently - the goal was wet traction and people were ok with tire life of 20000 miles. Here in the US, that tire would never sell. So I was curious how much was explanable by the tire life in years being similar or not - if Wolfram there is accurate, then tires in either continent are looking at 3-4 year life. So if the tires cost the same, then $/year is similar between the two and Europe gets better traction at the same price by virtue of driving less distance. -
How many miles (or km, I may be American but I work in the science field so I do know how to convert) do typical Europeans drive in a year? I'm asking cause I'm employed in the tire industry, and was reading about how different tires are designed for American vs Euro markets. My particular business is heavy truck tires, so I'm not as knowledgeable about differences in consumer use.

If $1700 in spending got you in, then I'm sure I'm in again at my store. I've got 2000 VIP points right now and I know I've spent way more than that this year. Probably $3k easily for the year. Guess I'll call today...

Thanksgiving Black Friday sales?
mostlytechnic replied to kermit's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Or check online at midnight - often stores put stuff online as well. well, depends on the sale of course... Just looked at the TRU ad, and the town square set (the one I was interested in) does say in store only. So sad... -
Anyone get an invite to the Columbus OH (Easton) store? That's my local one and I've been invited the last 2 years (two years ago I was the #1 invite in fact) but haven't gotten one this year. I definitely have had lower spending this year, but dunno if it's enough lower to be out of the top numbers. I mean, it's lower for *me* but it's certainly not low. Might have to give them a call...

Ragnarök Now Redux - Sign-ups

Looks like fun, but I'm gonna sit this one out as I REALLY don't have time to put into a game right now. -
Minimal Mafia Conclusion
mostlytechnic replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Just gotta say for the record, our art sucks. Seriously, paint thrown on a canvas and sells for millions? My 3 year old could do just about anything shown in this game...- 52 replies

Here in the USA I got two of these in recent S@H orders - placed online from a computer, not mobile site or app.

Fun reading there in the deadboard - looking back, yeah, I see how scummy I was. At the time I didn't see it, but heck, it was my first scum experience. -
1. What Mafia experience have you had? Aperture, Silver City, After Dark, Mafia Mafia, CMF 2. What was your favorite Mafia role that you played and why? Molly, Silver City mafia because for some reason it was the most fun character to be. 3. What was the moment in your EB Mafia experience that surprised you the most. Surviving and winning in After Dark - I can't BELIEVE they didn't lynch me! :)

Mafia After Dark - Conclusion: City of Gods
mostlytechnic replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I was actually very surprised how well balanced this ended up being - I thought the no private talking would hurt much worse than it did. Well, I guess it hurt town hard for a while, then it finally started to get more obvious and they killed off scum pretty quickly near the end. -
This is a common scam - happens a lot with lego for some reason. I've seen it like this, and seen people who order direct from Lego shop at home with stolen credit cards.

Mafia After Dark - Conclusion: City of Gods

And I waffled back and forth on him, vig vs SK, but finally took him out when I had the kill at the end. Either way, I had to have him gone :) -
Mafia After Dark - Conclusion: City of Gods
mostlytechnic replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
First, for the record, I was totally telling the truth at the end about not having seen the massive wall of attack until I responded. No way would I have let that slide in the end game. So two vs 3 votes for me would have made no difference. Although perhaps I might have fought *less* with 3 votes, assuming there was no way to pull it out given how much suspicion there'd been on me all game. As for why I killed you - just a coin toss. I knew (I was the scum protector) that protectors could protect themselves, so I didn't really factor that in. Tam asked if I could send in my kill early (before the end of the night) so as to possibly wrap things up - so I decided either I'd get lucky and the game was over, or I'd fail and then have to hope to argue my way through another round of votes. But honestly I didn't think it really mattered who I picked (was thinking that maybe since Tam asked for it early, there might not be any town NAs left), and even if there was a protector left, odds were in my favor so I threw a name out. -

*delusionally thinking she's won an oscar or something* Wow, I'd like to thank Tam for hosting a great game, and my fellow scum for supporting me and being great to work with, and the losers in the town for somehow NOT lynching me last night, and the city coroner who had to deal with all the bodies, and God cause all celebs thank Him like they actually care about Him, and my parents for raising me a Ferrari, and.... ********************* Seriously, how did you not lynch me at the end? When Ceb got killed by Colin, I thought it was all over. I picked Colin to get scumkilled, hoping it'd work, but assuming then I'd get lynched and town would win. So when night 7 started, I just threw a vote at Pen and somehow you crazy people bought it and went along with me! Loved playing the other side finally - and with a darn good group to help me. Main question - if the vig didn't die till day 3, where were the kills? And what on earth is a Baseball Star? -
For the record, yes, earlier I said Colin was the vig. Note that all your quotes there are from night 5. More recently I flipped and was pushing hard for him to get lynched. I'd go find quotes to prove my case, but I don't think there's time left in the night to do it. Found them - guess I wasn't as adamant as I was thinking I was, but still, I was definitely saying SK here on night 6. Pretty sure I also was pushing it EARLIER but gave up for a while.
-
Gonna start from the end this time, since it's the things Priscilla 2.0 actually said/did and so I can explain more fully... 6. no, I was looking for truth. You know, like the town is supposed to do! It kills people (literally) to make assumptions and stick with them if they're wrong. And as for what have I contributed? Um, who was the one who called Colin out as SK OVER AND OVER AND OVER, and was RIGHT? Yeah, that's right, ME. If people had listened, we'd have possibly saved a couple town from his kills. Yes, he got Ceb at the end, but he was still, what, 4 or 5 town to 1 scum? Pretty piss poor record there to have been a vig. 7. WIFOM, but maybe you were thinking you'd make a pointless obvious scummy move to make yourself appear not scum. Like you're doing right now. "See, if I was scum I wouldn't have done something so dumb". Whatever, scummo. 8. Yep, got the usual day 1 fluff and then got down to business. Not trying to get on your good side - you just were actually posting something decent in the scum hunt. In hindsight, I think you were just trying to stir up distractions in the analysis of the list, but had to make it look good so you weren't obvious scum. At that point I hadn't even gottten caught up on reading all the history books, so I wasn't making any judgement on YOU at all, just on what you were saying at that moment.
-
Yeah, tell yourself that all you want - the Malones will be victorious (though mostly dead) and hunt down all the Ferraris - particularly that final one, Penelope Ferrari. You need more? Ok, give me a few minutes to go over things. - though not sure it's really worth my time, given that the vote is 3-1 and it's not like I'm going to get you to vote for yourself.
-
Objection, your honor. Asked and answered. But sicne you obviously aren't paying attention - I don't know why tou saw me on here. I did not see the post until I answered. I might have been still on EB, or I might have left the page open, or EB just didn't change to show I wasn't here. I don't know. You really think at such a critical time I'd just IGNORE such a massive accusation?
-
You can imagine anythign you want, but it honestly was just the chance of when I happened to read the night thread. However, since the vote was tied (I was assuming Peter's change would count, making it a tie vote), that's bad for the town - means no lynch, and then the scum will kill one of us. The only thing worse today than a no lynch would be a town lynch, in which case it's over (scum kill another town, and then it's tied, so no lynch and then a scum kill for the win). Either way is very bad - and since I know I'm town, I'm not going down without fighting hard. Hence the lengthy posts both defending myself and pointing out why penelope is scum. With penelope being lynched, I'm confident we will win.
