Commander, you missed a vote against Jerry in post #111 by Spencer. -

Oh gimme a break. Obviously I wasn't seriously asking. If he was the vig surely he wouldn't be dumb enough to say something like that. And doubly so that I wouldn't expect anyone to claim now. And obviously he's exactly right that not voting is dangerous both in being a vig target AND lynch targets for tomorrow. Please tell me no one took my question seriously even though I didn't put a wink after it! I hope you do show back up, since right now I've got 4 votes on me and 5 on Jerry and we have 3 non-voters, which means no lynch is going to happen. You keeping your vote on the lower vote count target (yes, me) is keeping that deadlock. And that makes no sense. And looks scummy. I know I'm loyal and so is it possible that you're scum trying to protect your scum buddy Jerry? If you're both scum then a no-lynch is better than a Jerry lynch from your viewpoint, just saying.... -

Not sure what you're asking me... Yep, not voting is a total scum-supporting move. (and was that a subtle hint at night abilities there at the end?....) -

Wow. Just wow. Yes, I've placed 3 different votes today. (FYI, so have you spencer!). However, the first two I did exactly what I said I would. They were pokes, not permanent votes. Claire was quiet so I poked. Others started poking, so I unvoted and didn't immediately vote because there wasn't anyone yet I felt worthy of a vote. Then I poked Chris. He responded, so I unvoted him too. So both times, I did exactly what you all should have expected me to based on what I said! How on earth is THAT erratic? Or indecisive? Or fishy? Y'all really need to pay more attention. Claire did made one comment at the very start of the day, so she's followed the rules. She won't get attacked by the commander for that. (and to be technically correct, you made another error there in that he's a commander, not a captain). And there is no rule that you HAVE to vote. But anyone not voting is indeed terribly suspicious and at the very least, a bad American. And on that count, so far, Tervor, Malcolm, and Claire are all unvoting. Means right now we effectively have to get 7 out of TEN to get a lynch and that's way harder than 7/13. Quiet is also being a bad American. Claire obviously has been nearly silent. Trevor as well. A couple others are definitely too quiet (Chris, Adrienne, Patrick, Edward, Boris) But focusing on Claire and Trevor for a moment, Claire has been around during her silence. Trevor has not. I don't like either case, but Trevor's case is less suspicious - if he's been asleep all day that explains his quietness. She has no excuse. I think it's too late in the day to switch votes again, but Claire is definitely on my radar for future days. As is the rest of that list. -

Dang, got a weird situation here. I poke Christopher and now have Spencer saying that's a waste but Chris is almost daring me to keep my vote in place. It's late and I'm going to bed. Before I do, I agree that time for poking is over and so I want to make my vote count. Unvote: Christopher Milton Poindexter (CallMePie) Vote: Jerry Bergeron (JimBee) Christopher DID show up and start talking just like a poke should accomplish. Jerry on the other hand has been talking a LOT but lots of questionable things.... comments about investigating Trevor, etc. I'm not sure why he seems so sure that the miller claim is scummy. It COULD be a scum trick (if they decided to try something like that, a crew this size would be unlikely to have a miller to counter claim) but that would still be a very gutsy move. I'm still more inclined to accept the claim as probably true, so Jerry just seems like he saw a potential weak point to attack and has gone after it hard. -

Uh, no. Nope. Not at all. Your vote on claire came in while I was placing my vote, and there's still plenty of time to change my vote any direction needed to get rid of someone. But as of now, the leading vote-getters are myself and Jerry. I don't like the way Jerry has gone after Trevor, but I'm not ready to jump on that train yet. I think it's more important to TRY to get people active in here. I though sailors were vigorous, active, aggressive types. Instead we've got a bunch of lazy bums around here. Right now that scares me more than Jerry does. (and for the record, I see Christopher reading up on all this right now... so curious if he'll actually SAY SOMETHING for once now that I've pushed a little) (and to be clear, when I said nope, I mean nope, I don't NOT want a lynch today. Aka I DO want a lynch because we've got to find those scummy spies) -

Alright, something needs stirred in this pot. So, I'm going to Vote: Christopher Milton Poindexter (CallMePie) Why? He's made just 4 comments today. Three were normal fluff, and then jumped in once to place a vote on Jerry. He did use solid logic and reasoning behind the vote, which makes me wonder, but his was the third vote against Jerry. Easy place to hide as a scum - just repeating the legitimate logic that others have used against Jerry. The first two votes were pretty quick together, so even is Jerry really is a spy, I can see an experienced spy jumping in against him to try to shore up his own defense for later. And since making that vote, he's been around plenty but completely silent. I don't like that. So this vote isn't just a poke, it's stronger, more like a prod. Maybe a push. -

Well, now that I'm done cooking dinner for you all, guess I need to defend myself a little here since you (Jeremy, Patrick) misunderstood what I did. Yes, I made a weak, tentative vote against Claire for being quiet. It was one of the people mentioned by someone else because THOSE WERE THE TWO QUIETEST PEOPLE. And it was a weak, "it's just a poke" vote because that's exactly what it was. I was just trying to get someone to talk who had been around without saying anything. I later unvoted her because it felt like a bit of a bandwagon might be forming. Adrienne voted against Claire as well, another was thinking about it, and I didn't want that. I had no real suspicion of her so I unvoted to derail anything from happening without cause. That's all. And I explained that I didn't want others piling on her for still being quiet because she hadn't been around. It's one thing to poke someone who's around but not speaking, another to keep adding votes against someone who hasn't been around to say anything. I responded to Philip's legimate concern that voting for inactive people is not a great strategy by unvoting. Clear enough? Oh, and Patrick, you seem so concerned about my fluff? Go back and check the logs - yes, I've been one of the most frequent posters. But after the day 1 fluff, I made one further fluffy post poking our commander for using meters in the US Navy. After that it was helping Jeremy understand the miller claim, discussing suspicions, and other things trying to move things along here. Day 1 always sucks because there's not much to go on, so I'm trying to get any discussion moving that I can. -

Exactly - I have never said I trusted Trev as being loyal, just that if his claim is true, he handled it correctly and therefore I'd not make him my first choice of lynchee. He still has to prove himself one way or the other over time. Anyone seen Boris or Edward around lately? Been pretty quiet from them too... We've still got about 24 hours, but we're a long way from a majority vote on anyone. Edward was around earlier but didn't say anything. Not a whole lot had happened for him to comment on though. -

No, just that he's a very experienced sailor and so someone that the town I'm sure would want to check out soon to determine his loyalties Many of us have served with Trevor on other ships and have some experience with him. -

Why thank you. Seeing as how we're in the 80s and Futurama won't start this meme for another 30 years, I do believe I should quickly trademark this phrase so I can get rich when I'm older :) -

Ah, but you DO know how deep we are (and how deep we were), you just aren't sure how to process that data. Technically correct, the very best kind of correct. Now sir, would you like something to eat or drink? We've got a long voyage ahead while we hunt these scum... Very true, crewman. That's why I was clear in my initial vote for her that it was only a poke. Since then, she's gotten another vote against her and a third person threatening to. However, a quick check of the logs shows she hasn't been around since my prodding. Makes me think that first, I should Unvote: Claire Novak (Calanon) and second, that I should keep an eye on Adrienne and Jeremy as potential scum since they seemed to be trying to bandwagon her... -

For now I'm keeping my vote on Claire, but I too agree with Philip that Jerry was too anti-Trevor. Jeremy was suspicious, but responded properly when educated on millers since he's a newer crewman, but Jerry is a pretty experienced torpedoman.... -

There's still plenty of time to change, but to poke the sleepyheads, I'm going to Vote: Claire Novak (Calanon) Why? Only one fluffy post but she's been seen around the sub since without saying anything. Philip could have gotten my vote for exactly the same reason, so it's just a coin flip at this point that she got it first. Plenty of time though to change it to Philip if he needs some waking up or anyone else who looks suspicious. I don't think Trevor is deserving of a vote; his claim is too risky to be a likely fake. And Malcolm doesn't seem to be behaving atypically either, so no reason to vote for him yet either. -

Um, so you let Malcolm off but vote for me for the exact same thing, when I am like this in every single game on the sub too? Seems fishy to me... -

Gotcha, but like I said, immediate claim is very common for millers. So now we have to decide - is he telling the truth, or is he a spy trying to use a miller claim to hide his scumminess? Trevor is definitely an experienced sailor, so he could be playing either way. Also I'm looking to hear from Jerry, Boris, Claire.... you've been very quiet.... And back to Trevor, you really played the "I'm gonna go re-read and post my thoughts in a while" card this early? It's day one and only like 20 posts had been made to that point, all fluff... For now Trevor, I'm willing to accept a miller claim and look for more promising suspects, but we'll see how the days go... -

Wondering what you're looking for here - a reason within the game (ie explanation from the role pm) or not understanding what a miller is? By definition a miller is what Trevor stated. A loyal American that'll falsely appear as a spy if investigated. Claiming that immediately is a common strategy, though it runs a risk of getting vig killed or lynched to test the claim. But I guess if you DON'T claim and get investigated, you're guaranteed to get lynched.... -

Is it possible that our commander is one of the spies? He just gave us depth readings in those commie meter things. All good Americans know we measure in feet here. -

Bah, a spy!? We must find him (or her, since this sub is apparently totally PC like that). Now, how to help as a cook? I shall keep you all well fed! And perhaps at breakfast today I'll serve both black tea and coffee. Anyone who drinks coffee is obviously a good American, and the tea drinker must be the Ruskie spy! Job done in one meal! Oh, and if you want, there's lots of ice cream available. See how the freezer door is open with Lloyd's head in there? Well, all our ice cream started melting so better eat it quick. All the other food is fine. The big freezer is still un-contaminated with dead bodies. (and let's keep it that way! When we find the spy he goes out the torpedo tubes) Only the small ice cream freezer got opened. -

Wake up you lazies! Breakfast is served - eat now or be hungry till lunch. You try sneaking food outta my galley again and I'll break your fingers with a rolling pin. Hey, that's not a bad idea, might help find those @#$%@# spies while I'm at it! -

Hey Mr Torpedoman - what's with this getting wet? If you screw up and sink the sub because you forgot to close the torpedo door, then NO SOUP FOR YOU! Oh wait, I'm from San Diego, not New York. No arugula strawberry compote with reduced balsamic glaze for you! -

I am here to cook. You can not work if you are hungry. Stay out of my kitchen! And I am worried about our commander. Does he not understand how subs work? He says we will be drenched to the bone, but if water is in the boat, that is bad! -
Red Menace Mafia: Sign-ups

Just saw this, so I'll throw in in case the game is still going to happen! 1. What is your experience playing mafia games on Eurobricks? Several - Aperture academy, Mafia Mafia, Silver City, CMF 2. Will you be able to post frequently and keep up with night action deadlines for the 6-8 weeks? Sure will. Haven't been around EB much lately, but I'll step up for a new game. 3. What is your favorite submarine-themed movie? Hunt for red october, and not because it's the only one I've seen :) Liked that it was actually pretty faithful to the book, unlike all the other Clancy movies (of course, it was easier since RO is 1/4 the length of any of his other novels...) -
Picked one up yesterday and build it last night and today. Great set! It's got the common Lego scale issues (ride seats are way in the air instead of near the ground on a real one, the semi with the ride is 8 wide and the other truck is 6, etc) but it's still great. I was a carnie back in my high school days and so I've set up many rides in my day. The fact that the designer went to the effort to make this whole festival fit onto the trucks is a fantastic play feature. Sure, you could argue that so much play features makes it less of a fit for the expert line, but whatever. I think it's not a city themed set because it doesn't really fit scale-wise with other sets. I mean, this thing unfolds into a ride bigger than any of the modular buildings, bigger than the police stations, etc. It just seems out of place alongside other buildings. But as a set it's awesomely cool. Pretty good build (not TOO much repetiveness, other than the fence, and that's simple and quick). One beef though - since the cars on the ride are yellow, blue, and red, WHY OH WHY are the trans elements on the red section trans-orange? Oh, and why not have some way to get it off the wheels when unfolded, rather than having MORE wheels come down as support? Makes the whole thing slide around while you crank it if you're on a table. A couple more sections of fence wouldn't be a bad addition too; the fence just barely encloses the ride if you're really careful setting it out. Too bad my wife is out of town with the good camera this weekend - I would have done a full photo review of it otherwise, but oh well.
