  1. In case people haven't seen, the 30315: Space Utility Vehicle (previously gift with purchase) can now be found in some Targets in the US. I picked one up today, that had a bunch mixed in with the go kart set.
  2. Brown horses appeared on some PAB walls months ago but I've only seen them in person at the Schaumberg store during Brickworld.
  3. Where is this mom and pop store? ;) Best bet for resale is probably unexpected gathering, but you should check sold eBay items in your country.
  4. I'm not saying you're wrong, but one thing to keep in mind is that some people buy truly massive quantities of LEGO for all sorts of reasons. I think someone buying and opening really a lot of sets could get to a point where they are banned even though they aren't being excessively picky.
  5. Nice variety of play features.
  6. I don't know about the weight but there are several "boats that float" hulls between the one from 4011 and the largest version. Bricklink calls them "boat hull unitary". For example this is 32 studs long vs the 24 stud version in 4011: http://alpha.brickli...lor":11,"ii":1} Dutchiedoughnut: I think its assumed he will use a hull that is made to float, so there are no below water seams to worry about.
  7. It is surprising that they didn't have the monkeys in this year's pirates but I guess they didn't want to update the mold and no longer make animals without printed eyes. Monkeys last appeared in 2009: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=2550c01#T=C However they aren't so rare and expensive like goats so they're available to those who want them. Back on top: ANCIENT ROME, and also civilian oriented medieval and space themes.
  8. Disappointed in the Gargoyle, the main one I was interested in. It REALLY should be dark bluish gray, not light. Also the wings should be folded back more, and all the little black dots don't look good IMHO.
  9. Personally I don't like it, but many people do use it and it seems to get a good response. However I think it works to use it systematically to represent a different kind of material (not just random weathering).
  10. I get what you're saying but there are several reasons I don't do that. 1) Personally I live in a fairly small city with only one Target and saying that location is a bit more specific than I generally like to be on a forum, your feelings may vary. 2) Because of being in a small city in fairly rural area I think its very unlikely that there are more than a couple people who regularly read this thread who are within in driving distance. If you live in a major metropolitan area the specific store would be a lot more helpful. 3) In this particular case the information is valuable because it indicates the July toy section reset has occurred at my store, and should therefore occur at your store already or within the next couple weeks. This is a nationwide occurrence in January and July that every Target is involved in, but with some variation in dates. Here is another source of info about the reset: http://www.allthingstarget.com/category/clearance/70-off-toy-clearance/
  11. The laundry room is my favorite, but they're all incredible! I like the way you did the dining room glass table.
  12. Thanks everyone for the many kind comments!
  13. I've seen them in a couple local stores, and my Walmart still has half a dozen. The only other set left is a bunch of the helicopter. It looks like this line has sold well.
  14. My Target has quite a few sets on 30% off clearance, some at 50%. Of course this will vary by location. I saw LOTR BofA, some older super hero sets, all ultra agents (surprising to me because all these are pretty recent, like the helicopter), some older city sets including the arctic mobile base, some small TLM set. Friends Olivia's ice cream bike was 50% off. I don't think any Star Wars were marked down.
  15. Finally picked up the Battle of Five Armies. I was on the fence about getting it at all but seeing it at Target for 30% off I figured it was now or never.
  16. I put two of the Gallimimus I got into a small Dinotopia themed MOC: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=111542. Made me wish even more that they made a petting zoo set complete with saddles for small triceratops, those would be great for Dinotopia builds. I'm disappointed that this theme is so predator focused even though its for obvious reasons.
  17. Incredible build! The dock, the water, all the small buildings, and the lighthouse stand out to me. The use of the window lattices as exterior details on the middle building is great too.
  18. Good idea, I have another concept for this scene as well so I may make a couple more variations before I disassemble it.
  19. I wasn't sure where to put this, but saw some old Dinotopia MOCs in Sci-Fi, so here goes. This is a very small build but I was pleased with the result. I felt a couple classic adventurers figs would fit in the Dinotopia world. When I obtained some of the new Jurassic World dinosaurs my first thought was of the original Dinotopia book I enjoyed years ago. I thought a sort of rickshaw pulled by dinos would fit in that world, and maybe some like that was even in the book. I did find this image of concept art from the TV series (which I haven't seen): My version is obviously a very loose adaption. Some might point out that these dinosaurs are called Gallimimus by LEGO, but I'm taking the creative liberty to dub them raptors for the sake of alliteration.
  20. Thanks everyone. I got the idea from a tree technique thread on here. Basically its a stack of these: set at 45 degree angles. You can put 1x1 plates between them to make a slightly sparser tree. I did 1 flower stem around the top, then 2, then several rows of 3. Of course you can vary this as you like.
  21. I had the idea to do a MOC of a tower under construction, and from there decided to extend it into a three part build showing the transformation of the landscape. In the Beginning Progress The Watch
  22. I picked up 3 Gallimimus at my TRU. They had them behind the counter at checkout but were perfectly willing to sell them. On one hand, maybe this prevents them from selling out fast which can be a a good thing. But it seems like it would sell better and people would be more tempted to try to get one free if they actually had them out on display. Anyway I was surprised the dino is rubber as was already mentioned but he's still really nice. However I would have preferred him in a yellowish tan color like in Jurassic Park.
  23. Looks great to me, I wasn't really expecting to get this but I probably will. However I am not a really serious car fan, it just looks like a nice build.
  24. These have not been discounted on the US S@H and are still in stock. Interesting to have this forewarning, I wonder how long till this hits us.
  25. You can't convert it to plug into the wall. I believe the best option is rechargeable batteries, I've heard good things about eneloop batteries from panasonic. There is an official LEGO rechargeable battery pack but it is expensive and seems to never be in stock.
