[MOC] Rick and Morty: Cthulu (from opening theme)
Vorkosigan replied to Jared's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great looking Cthulu, I like the use of Smaug wings. The ship is nicely detailed as well, good use of trash cans.- 9 replies

Very cool! Do you have any larger pictures? Is it made of yellow or is that a tan color?

Very innovative style and lots of great details. I like the table tennis table and the little weeds on the roof. Now please replace all the exterior dark red with masonry facade bricks.

Regarding 41108: We really need a 1x1 brick facade piece, and honestly a corner piece as well (either 1x1 or 2x2 L shape) I wish they'd made the scooter in a new color, so far all we have is this mint color and red. Pearlescent silver, or black would be great. Given this is Friends maybe I should be glad its not magenta or lavender, but a medium azure would work nicely like the jungle motorcycle. Why is the ground floor of the shop a light azure plate? Is it flooded? Honestly a nice set in general though.

Thanks for the nice throwback review. This is a neat little set. The (suggested) pointless STAMPing of the gauges wouldn't happen these days, probably there would be some SNOT pieces and the printed gauge plate that is commonly used. The sticker does have the advantage of being possibly unique. Its nice you were able to find all the correct stickered pieces, for me its hit and miss in my childhood collection though I do have some nice OCTAN STAMPs that survived the decades intact.

Our hero has faced many dangers and defeated many foes on his great quest. He approaches the base of the dark wizard's power, an ancient temple built on a source of great magic. Evil experiments have corrupted the land for far around, turning the once vibrant landscape into a barren hell. Trees weep blood, carnivorous vines sprout from the ground, and the bones of would-be heros litter the land. At last our hero will defeat the evil sorcerer and restore balance to the land, or die trying.

Literally no one said that, Sir_Basil_Ashton said that the inclusion in Dimensions suggests LEGO still has faith in LOTR (despite possibly poor sales). No one really knows how well the themes sold but there are more indications that the Hobbit did poorly then there are that it did well. I'm not saying that it was a "failure" per-say but it doesn't look like a hit. The small third wave of the Hobbit with very little retail support shows that the Hobbit (at least 2nd wave and beyond) did not do well. A lot of people on here jump on these sorts of comments (rather rudely), and your only evidence to the theme's success is that you like it. Well I like the Hobbit and LOTR too but that doesn't change the fact that little shelf presence in major chains shows that retailers had no faith in the 3rd wave. Other people have observed this on here and I have personally seen it in many stores in my area. The canceling of the BoFA DLC for the Hobbit video game is also a likely sign of poor performance. The inclusion of LOTR in Dimensions likely has to do with it being an available WB license and its fit to the theme of the game. All the characters in the game are based on some sort of story, they wouldn't use just generic Castle figures as they aren't named characters.

Incredible details, and great overall design!

Picked up Uruk-Hai Army as well as 4738 Hagrid's hut, and 4183 POTC The Mill on craigslist. Good deals all around but Uruk-Hai Army was only $12, it is missing the green shield but otherwise complete so a great deal compared to BL and ebay.

Awesome plane! Great details throughout. The view in from the rear ramp feels very realistic.

I think the bracelet name is a reference to this sort of set: http://shop.lego.com...Listing=listing The pieces are used as decorations on a human sized bracelet and necklace. Bricklink's name "Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Flower Edge (4 Knobs)" makes a lot more sense.
-
That is a neat little set, but unless you want multiples of those figures bricklink will be cheaper for accumulating foliage.
-
Yea I'm also wondering what set you are referring to. The 1x1 round flower piece is more flexible in how it can be used than the traditional flower head, but I have plenty of the old kind as well. Both have their uses.

No reason the RFID code can't trigger a download of new content. Games these days are updated all the time.
-
Pretty confident they RFID chips just have a code to unlock the content. It doesn't make sense from a cost standpoint to put much data storage in the toy, also RFID data links are not very high bandwidth to be transferring actual content.

I gotta disagree on this point. Obviously there are a lot of good options for how to do a roof, but for some styles of building the oldschool slope style roof looks great. Also not everyone is into the excessively greebled look (not saying that all-non sloped options are like that though). Personally I think they should make a textured version of the cheese slope to fit in with the rest of the slopes. I do agree in general that there are a lot of simple parts they could be making. As for colors, it would be great if introducing a new color required a core set of parts to released in that color. Even if they were only available from pick a brick online.

LEGO in Film & TV: Index of Appearances
Vorkosigan replied to Izzy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In "Fresh Off the Boat" season 1 episode 10 (2 weeks ago) there was a couple scenes with LEGO minifigs. The middle son was making a volcano science project and it had the Caesar CMF, a princess figure, and I also saw the Space Miner CMF. They were there to get wiped out by the "lava." This show is supposed to take place in the early 90s so these particular figures were anachronistic. -
Incredible set, thanks for the pics! So many details and unique prints and colors. I'm not that into the Simpsons but definitely a top tier set.
-
I wouldn't worry about extra pieces in a large lot, in most cases they probably did it on purpose to avoid complaints from miscounts.
-
Its a neat build, I like the underwater view and the way the fish are positioned with the trans pieces. However to be in line with EB policies you should probably make your post more about the MOC (pics etc) and not just a request for support.

Can I have more than one bag on pickabrick?

Edit: I misread and answered as if you were talking about bricklink. I don't think they will sort it for you but a bricklink seller might if you ask. -
Anyone else notice its actually a "Wiched" Witch? I agree about the monkey, I think they could put a hat and wings on the old pirates monkey and get a better version!
