To me it recalls the m-tron megacore magnetizer.

The box art shows normal Jestro so I doubt its a placeholder.

Its been retired for around 6 months and the prices on ebay in the US are still below MSRP. I fully expect it will go up eventually but it appears they made a lot of them.

Wow thanks for linking the pictures. I will say the slide doesn't look too bad in the crystal mine. Decent looking set though there doesn't appear to be much if any interior. Really like the white dragon, glad it doesn't have any pink/purple. The evil castle on the other hand looks like too much of a mishmash of colors to me. Cool curved spikes though. Here's my big question though, the picture of the boxes shows the crystal mine and dragon sanctuary with the spring sets. Is it possible those are spring releases as well?

First mech looks cool, but images are slow to load. If you just add an "h" to each filename before the ".jpg" you can embed them at a reasonable size.

In my opinion the slide pieces are ugly and pretty much useless for MOCing. I'm sure someone can find a novel use for one but they don't much appeal to me. A brickbuilt waterfall that could be used as a slide would be fine.

Disney Princess 2016 Rumors and Discussion
Vorkosigan replied to Amazing Bricks's topic in LEGO Licensed
Belle is there but was not physically shown at a show. Good description here: http://brickset.com/article/18855/London-Toy-Fair-report-Disney-Princess-Elves-Friends -
Brickset has the full descriptions now: http://brickset.com/...s-Elves-Friends There being a slide in the mine is disappointing. The dragon sounds great, white and trans light blue. Could be the first time I buy a whole Elve's wave but I'm not totally sold on the two smaller sets yet.

[MOC] Atlantis "Neptune Carrier Mk.II" Submarine
Vorkosigan replied to Pimbo's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wow so many features, really great MOC! I especially like the torpedo tubes, the conning tower with airlock, and the extra vehicles. I've kicked around the idea of making a large sub and you've definitely set the bar quite high! -
Request: Elves hair on minifigures
Vorkosigan replied to Hidronax's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think so, just like friends. But the sets so far don't use the holes as far as I can remember. -

I'd never seen a friction joint before building the king's mech, but I could use one for the shoulder. Why put them on the legs only? A good set though, very detailed. Perfect for Infernox to fight, so its a bit odd you can't get them at the same store unless you buy them direct from LEGO.

The new CMF and maybe some of the steampunk Ninjago sets if they hit stores early.
-
I don't disagree that those themes probably won't be revived, but I disagree that they "were never popular enough to support more than a handful of sets." They were designed as an offshoot adversary subtheme, but I don't think they ended because they weren't popular. Maybe they were, maybe they weren't. At that time LEGO had much less information on exactly how successful individual sets were and how profitable they were and I don't think they made decisions like that about these subthemes.

I think most of the pink could be swapped for light bluish gray. The crystal hearts could be swapped for either gold frogs or gold cup cake pieces. Flags could be swapped for gold or blue.

I like the look of the sword and shield but ultimately I don't have a use for it. Would be a great start for a kid's Nexo Knight Halloween costume.

[MOC] Lava Village - Nexo Knights
Vorkosigan replied to Vorkosigan's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes the idea is the houses are made of igneous rock such as obsidian. I think given that there are intelligent lava people such as Lavaria and General Magmar suggests that they exist outside the book's magic, in another time, place, or dimension. Since the playmat shows a volcano area, maybe they are transported from a physically reachable place. -
Amazing build, you did a great job of packaging the house into a modular format.
-
Good and mean looking, I like it. Nice job with the backgrounds, definitely adds to it.
-
I don't know about Bionicle, but Infernox from Nexo Knights is a pretty good approximation of a Balrog: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Infernox-captures-the-Queen-70325

After some cursory searches I didn't find a good picture of it, so I wanted to point out the alternate side of the starter pack poster is quite nice:

I feel the lava people of the Nexo Knights world are getting a bad reputation just because Jestro summoned them to battle. They probably would rather be relaxing at home. So I built a small village scene for them. Here are some worldbuilding details I came up with: Moltor is a blacksmith. He uses lava from the stream to heat his furnace, and likes to swim in it when business is slow. Globlins are pets, and Beast Master likes to walk his. Furniture, plates, utensils and other household items are made of gold, which is common. There is no wood or trees. The people get their red appearance from the crystals they eat, much like a flamingo and shrimp. Perhaps they are silicon based life forms instead of carbon?

Nice way to combine the sets into something cohesive.

[MOC] Aquasharks "Spurdog" Fast Attack Submarine
Vorkosigan replied to Pimbo's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Best Aquasharks MOC I've seen. Good use of parts, nice features. I like the look of the figs with the caps and epaulets.
