A LEGO reality show... a good idea or a bad one?
Borador replied to XAxles's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, I'd think it'd either be the US or Denmark. If not, probably either Sweden or the Czech Republic (since there are factories there). But I'd say the best bet would be the US or Denmark. I don't know how reality shows work- can you just "sign up" or would you have to be recruited? -
Welcome to Eurobricks! You mention that you buy too way too much of what you like, but I must point out that there is no such thing as too much LEGO. Sometimes it seems that way, but actually the real problem is space and finances to keep up with the LEGO. Too much LEGO simply cannot be.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Borador replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Some of my thoughts... Season 1 was not that good. Eccleston was a fine Doctor, but they put him in a lot of bizarre stories that I for some reason couldn't get into. Most of the earlier ones were good, (except for "Rose") but as the season went on they just got weirder and weirder. The Tennant years were good in general, with only a few bad episodes here and there. He had a fairly good run, I think. For me, the show really got good at Season 5. The Eleventh Hour was the perfect way to introduce the 11th Doctor, (even if the next few episodes were lackluster) and remains one of my favorite episodes of the show. And Season 6 was a great story. Most of my favorite episodes came from the first half of Season 7 (before Amy and Rory left). Those were just a lot of fun (though the constant foreshadowing of Amy and Rory leaving was annoying). The last Season with Smith was not good. It almost felt like they wanted to get us sick of him so we wouldn't mind it when they got rid of him. Clara's story was interesting, but the episodes they set them in were generally not good. A few good ones (The one where they went to the center of the TARDIS, the finale and the premiere were pretty good.) but in general, it was just not good. The 50th Anniversary Special was good... Until they decided to reverse the Time War... I mean that was just dumb... It would've been so... I can't think of the word, but seeing the three Doctors make their biggest mistake, two of which we know and love, would have been just unforgettable. It would've been a perfect way to celebrate 50 years. The idea that the Daleks would just keep shooting even when the planet was gone, and that somehow they'd all hit each other and destroy themselves... What? Oh well, it was still pretty entertaining. And then Smith's final episode was... A bit boring. Really didn't care much for it. I mean we all knew he wasn't going to die. There was no tension, It was just... Boring. I've only seen the first few episodes of this years season (up to Robots of Sherwood). I don't really know what to think of the new Doctor. He plays the part well, and is quite likeable, and is definitely a good fit, but there's something about him that seems... Inconsistent? He seems different from one minute to the next... Might just be me (or it could have to do with the fact that I can't tell what his accent is. Sometimes it sounds more English, sometimes it sounds more Scottish... I really don't know). I'll have to watch a bit more to be sure on my opinion... Overall, good show. I've considered looking into the old series, but I just don't have that much time to dedicate to it. -
I doubt it. Guardians worked because MARVEL had already built a name for themselves with more popular characters first, so the brand name helped sell them. DC hasn't (and won't have) done that. So it's iffy. That's not to say it won't work, though, if its really good, I guess it could. Honestly, I know nothing about the Suicide Squad (nor do I care to, frankly) so I could be wrong. To me, it makes sense that Aquaman is so late. Why? This is a character who's name is usually followed by "sucks" or "is lame" or something to that effect. Whether he is or is not lame or does or does not suck is irrelevant- when people think of him, they hear Raj from Big Bang Theory saying "Aquaman sucks" and that is a bad reputation that DC has to overcome. Waiting a little while to build a name for themselves makes sense (although, that begs the question- why the Suicide Squad so early?) Flash probably got pushed back due to the CW Show. I think we all know why Green Lantern is so late. To be honest, this list doesn't really interest me. I'll probably end up seeing them eventually, but I can wait. Frankly, I'll probably end up waiting longer than I have to simply because I don't care... I'm thinking of giving Arrow another chance. I stopped after the first season because it seemed there were too many low points and too few high (The highs were quite nice. That arch with the mafia was pretty neat). Hearing all of these good reviews of it here make me want to give it another shot when I get the time. I'm not really big on the Flash, so I'm skeptical about watching that one, but perhaps I'll give it a chance. Gotham actually sounded interesting to me, so I'll have to catch up when I get the chance...

I don't know about that... I mean, would these things be in the movie? Would there really have been that many villains (Cold, Grodd, Braniac, Manta, etc.) in one movie? It just seems like too much. Though it could be, that certainly lines up. I mean it is odd that they just randomly decided to stop overbatmaning it and diversify their hero range.

A LEGO reality show... a good idea or a bad one?

Yes! "Imma bill me a gator trap from these here blocks. That rascal'll never get way dis tahm." -the gator breaks the trap- "Wha? How'd he get out? Haha. I guess dese blocks ain't as sturdy as I thought they'd be. Dern gator." I cannot wait. -
All they had was that mask? Really? They didn't even reveal the line? Or anything? I don't mind that it was Bionicle, in fact, I'm glad it was. It was such a core part of LEGO (even if I didn't care for it after the first few waves) that it just felt.. wrong when it ended. I'm glad its back. But really? Just that mask? Lord of the Rings is forever. I'd bet that it'll be around as long as humans are, in some form or another. And I bet LEGO will be around for a similarly long period of time. But if LEGO does not want to make any more Lord of the Rings, that is their decision. If they have truly made that choice, they made it based on fact and research. It does not matter how prominent or present it is. It doesn't matter how long it has or will be around. What matters is how many sets sold. It may be alive and well, but that doesn't mean the LEGO sets sold or are selling. And that doesn't mean they will sell. It is alive and well, but that doesn't mean anything. Fortunately, we don't know that the sets didn't sell well. It sure seems that way, but I don't think there's any real proof. So maybe. Maybe there might be more... I hope there might be more. I really hope. But I think at the end of the day, all the evidence says its done, so I wouldn't get my hopes up just because the property is popular. Speed Racer was a popular property (even if the movie wasn't). Pirates of the Caribbean, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Spongebob were popular too (although Pirates is coming back, they say). They don't have the same status as Lord of the Rings? True. But they do appeal better to the target audience (or they did, Avatar has been off the air a few years). And they still went. I'm not saying if its done either way, all I'm saying is not to get your hopes up since this is not looking good...

I like the Batman face, but I wish they'd given him a neutral expression instead of that big grin. I wish they'd cut out the eyes like that on more Batman figures, though.

A LEGO reality show... a good idea or a bad one?
Borador replied to XAxles's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't know about this... On one hand, it would be cool to see what they would build on it... On the other hand, there is one big problem; reality TV. I've seen a few that were okay (the one that comes to mind was this cooking show called "Halloween Wars") but usually they're just dumb. I'll wait and see. I can't help but wonder, though, if this works well, and they create a lot of really awesome stuff... I wonder if this would make public perception of AFOLs better? I mean, I always hear people say how their friend is like "that's a toy. Grow up" and then they show them all the great MOCs that people make and they shut up... I wonder if this show would make more people see what can be done and make it less of a toy... -
I literally didn't know that the cartridge was LEGO. I still really can't- that is crazy realistic! This is an excellent MOC, one of the best I've seen in a while.

That's an interesting idea to use those bobble heads. I may look into them myself if we don't get Skinner and Willie in the next line. Excellent work. All they're missing are custom torsos.

I don't know a ton about Japanese mythology, but these figures rock! I especially love the Kappa. I actually have heard of that one, and your rendition is excellent. Though I'm not familiar with the others, I really like the way they look. And using that big Ninjago figure was a great idea. Good work, keep it up.

If Sauron's helmet goes over a minimate head, would a minimates head fit on a LEGO body? If no... I can improvise...

Lego Batman spinoff will replace The LEGO Movie 2 in 2017
Borador replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Really? I don't care for this. I don't really care for the LEGO Movie, and have little interest in its sequels, but this is really feeding into the "too much Batman" thing. They're overdoing it, I think... Then again, Batman is always good. Here's hoping they go back to the Adam West format. -

I mean that's pretty much it... I'm sure if there was Lord of the Rings in the retailers catalog, we'd know about it. But we know the opposite; it isn't there. Plus all that other stuff... On top of all that, Brotherhood Workshop's comments... He's dead, Jim. Now for the real reason I'm commenting. Can I put that Sauron mini mates head on a LEGO body? I think it would look spiffy on Shredder from the TMNT movie line.

My unique acylic minifigure display mounts
Borador replied to Wayno's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh wow... On your Facebook, it says the price is 7.80 Euros? Did I read that right? Whats that... 10 USD? With shipping, I'd guess around 20 bucks a frame at the most... Not bad. But definitely something reserved only for special parts of the collection.... I can't tell you just how lovely that Classic Space one is... I mean, wow! That's one of the most beautiful things I've seen on this here website... -
