  1. Maybe that "little hint" was meant to throw us off? Because LEGO is just that sly.
  2. They aren't LEGO for sure. Look at the legs. They look cheap. And the hands are different. I'll bet you could use them with LEGO if you gave them proper arms and legs, though. Maybe different heads since the style is so different. In any case, I don't really know anything about them.
  3. Well, a Halfling with bare yellow feet wouldn't match Frodo and Co... Which is a shame, really. I would definitly love to see some of those concept figures in plastic. Hopefully at least a few appear in S13. If they don't, I hope whatever does is on par or surpasses them. There are some cool ideas there.
  4. That's... An excellent idea! I second this! In fact, I may consider it myself...
  5. Welcome to Eurobricks. I can see how the camper van got you back, that is a wonderful set. I hope you like it here!
  6. You'd think they'd have caught that... Well, whatever. That puts that speculation to rest. Glad Bionicle is coming back, anyways. I never really collected it, but I had some as a kid, and so I always felt it was sort of a "core" LEGO theme. When it went away, it just felt... Well, wrong.
  7. Welcome to Eurobricks, Elliot!
  8. Oh! I should've been watching this thread more closely! Loving that new Elrond! Tauriel looks great too. And the Witch King... All of them! Spectacular!
  9. If he's 18 then he can use the classic "I'm an adult" line. This would be especially effective if he has a job. Otherwise? He can keep it at your house and just build when he's over. Or hide it in his room, somewhere that his mom wouldn't see it. Putting the bricks in a spare pillow case and leaving that in the closet might work. (Tip; put it in a bag before putting it in the pillowcase for easy switching.) Otherwise? Don't know. You know him and his family better than we do (and we can't possibly know as well as you, as even the best description would still pale in comparison).
  10. Sorry, missed your post. Well, you can, but I just don't think it's worth it. There's no harm that can be done with a petition, but I just feel it's more worth it to support third parties.
  11. ... Well, I ran into a similar situation. It seems to cost more than it's worth. Have you thought of using LDD? I looked into it, but haven't gotten to trying it yet. Don't get rid of what you have unless you have to. That point is important. Mini figures are addicting... I find holidays in which gifts are given are a good solution. Not perfect, since you can only get so much, but you never worry about what you spent on them. And having not spent anything on those few should soften the blow a bit for what you do spend money on. But it wouldn't hurt to take a break if it has gotten to this point. Do what you want.
  12. Oh, I see what you mean. Fair enough. I'm sure this line's ending will bring in lots of new custom Gondor soldiers, so if you don't like this one, I'm sure there'll be one you like eventually...
  13. That's cool. I've never heard of that. Kinda makes me wonder why they scrapp(y doo)ed that (yeah, I know Monster Fighters came out, but it didn't look quite like that. I just used that wording so I could make that pun). That Medusa is very similar to what we got in the CMF Series, I wonder if this is the concept art its based on? I still hope for Scooby Doo CMF (or even a full theme). Monster Fighters wasn't quite what one would hope for. (No museums, lighthouses, etc.) Scooby Doo would still be unique enough. Thanks for sharing that though.
  14. Oh, now I see where I messed up. The price is in pounds. I didn't convert it to dollars. Well, still, that's not a great price, but I don't think you'll find a better deal than that. Anyways, I've heard of official Rohan soldiers going for $11.50 each, so $20 (roughly) for two Gondorians isn't terrible... I admit to having stretched the truth a bit on the prices. Sorry about that. But honestly, it has come down considerably from what it was when I first got into the hobby. It used to be a hundred or so per figure. I'm sure that, even if it isn't ideal now, it will be in the future... I hope, anyways... Which figures are you referring to? I've actually had the opposite problem with the ones I've linked to here. I find them just a bit under-detailed next to official figures (still look awesome though, just not sure detail is quite consistent). There are some printed figures that are too detailed (IE, EclipseGrafx. Oh, I love them, but they really don't fit with official figures), but I haven't seen any Lord of the Rings ones that are... Customs may not be as good as LEGO (well, most aren't anyways) but we can't get official ones at this point. Which is a shame. I really wish we could get official ones. I mean I REALLY do. But we can't. So, we turn to customs. It isn't ideal, I admit, nor do I claim it to be, but I'd take a crude Witch King over no Witch King (and the one I linked to is NOT crude at all, so I don't even have to take a crude one) I apologize that my initial post was a bit harsh. I've had a long couple of weeks. Didn't mean to yell at anyone (if you took it that way). I just wanted to point out that LEGO is not the only way to get what we want.
  15. No, I think he's looking for people who have used the Rancor for the basis of customs...
  16. Those rock! I'd love to see them as official figures. Great find. Did some thinking... What about a Nickolodean CMF line? Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, etc. (yes, I know Sponegebob is held by Megablocks now, this is just an idea). It's what I watched when I was a kid, and is still popular today. On that note, some folks at Classic Castle were discussing Scooby Doo. That would be PERFECT! It's a darn shame that a competitor holds the license. It was on when I was a kid, when my parents were kids (they didn't watch it though, HA), and I'll bet it'll still be on when I have kids. And with so many recognizable characters and monsters, there'd be no limit to what they could do. It's the perfect fit for LEGO, and I really hope something happens that allows them to get the license...
  17. Holy LEGO Bricks, Batman! I LOVE this! It is SPECTACULAR! You've done a great job not only making it recognizable, but also making it look really cool in this medium. Nice work!
  18. Looks great! Excellent work. It's a shame they didn't include one in the house (though I see why they didn't). On that note, do you have any pictures of it with the house?
  19. If it is true that the director has been in promotional material for two years, then I'm gonna have to retract my earlier statements. That's almost definitely not series 13. Maybe it could be, but I doubt it. The only real chance of it being in series 13 in my opinion is if it undergoes a significant change and that the one we see here was just a prototype that they used because they needed a director and just had that design. I doubt that though. That really sucks, because I kinda wanted one...
  20. There's already a topic for this, a few good suggestions there; http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=99890#entry1995966
  21. I thought it was 7.50 for 2? Maybe I saw it wrong. And I may have stretched the truth a bit, yeah, okay, I admit to that. It is a bit more expensive, but I've heard of Rohan soldiers going for 11.50. You're right about the printing. I admit, customs still haven't reached LEGO quality... But it's all we got. LEGO isn't listening. That isn't a problem we can solve, it's a fact of life. All I wanted to say was that since they aren't listening, why don't we support the people who are?
  22. Well, I asked, he's just confirmed that these will be made in ABS. I think they'd look great on one of these:GONDOR SOLDIER by smallgreenpealtd, on Flickr Which are not only custom printed, but for sale. I think it was 8 bucks for 2? About what one would pay for an offical one. I want to leave all of you with a thought. What do you suppose is a better way to complete your collection of LEGO Lord of the Rings? Do you think that it is to constantly beg and petition LEGO? Or would you say that its better to support people like these who make custom parts to complete the theme? Would you say its more effective to protest LEGO (who doesn't care, by they way), to sign hundreds of petitions, to support all of these Ideas projects... Or would it be better to look for alternative methods of getting what you want? Even if you don't like the helmets and figures I've linked to here, I'm sure you could find one you do. And if you can't, I'm sure that you could ask. You can petition customizers. You can ask them and they will respond. They care. LEGO doesn't. What about Treebeard and the Balrog? They're too big to be made by customizers? Or what about Minas Tirith or Barad Dur? This is LEGO after all. You can build them. If you yourself can't design one, then find one you like and ask for instructions. That is literally just like buying an official set. Literally, the only difference is that you have to gather the parts yourself. In this day and age? That is no problem. It's too time-consuming to go on bricklink... Well, true. But I'm pretty sure that LDD offers a service where you can build the model and have it shipped to you (I don't know if they still do that, though). That should take care of the Balrog, Treebeard, Minas Tirith, and whatever else you wanna build. If you REALLY want LEGO Lord of the Rings. If you REALLY care. You'll stop posting the same wishlist over and over. Stop talking about how LEGO "failed". Stopped talking about "what they could've done" all the potential, etc. Stop with the petitions. Stop yelling at LEGO. LEGO is NOT going to listen. They do NOT care. They will NEVER care. Support the people who DO care. Help them get you what you want. Sign petitions to have some customizer make an Eowyn from the game. Buy those Gondor helmets. Buy lots of them so the creator makes more good stuff. Buy customs! Petition customizers. Advertise for customizers. Do whatever you can. Even a simple "Check out this guys store" photo on Flickr will make a difference. LEGO only gave us so much. Now, we have to get the rest. I don't mean to sound rude, and if I do, I am sorry. But frankly, this has gone on too long. What we here are doing does no good whatsoever. We have a right to be angry. But why waste our time being mad when we can find ways to, at least partially, ease the pain ("pain" is too strong a word, but I don't have a better one). Edited since upon rereading, I was a bit harsh. Sorry. Didn't mean to do that. No hard feelings?
  23. They can't do that. They can't justify the cost of new molds for such a giant set. As much as I'd love Moe or Duffman (that one wouldn't happen anyways) they'd have to be in the CMF series or some small set, otherwise, we won't see them...
  24. Well, maybe. I don't think there'll be one in the 2016 wave, but I'd not be surprised to see one eventually if this is the Batmobile that the entire DCCU will use.
  25. Yeah, that's just the Lumberjacks torso in brown. It even has the "Kel" nametag (that I HATE, by the way. So limiting!). Also, the face on that kid below it is... Disturbing. He doesn't look too good.
