i could bump up to larger motor....but i already looked into it and the holes for mounting have different spacing. so i would have redo the whole bracket. and the length of a 550 is so much longer. i would have to re look at the whole chassis and gear configuration i have done. Which.... may be worth it... but I would also have to re-odo the whole backend. Like I mentioned before, when I get going too fast the whole back end jumps around (like can be een in the video) --- I would have to double up the shocks back there.... which it is corruntly not configured for. Really, it would take a ton of work. Whole new project......not just a modification of what I have already done....

i actually did originally used it. I have video and everything.... it is just that the motor was not powerful enough to really push things through for gears three -five. i mean it still drove, just didnt add any speed like a transmission shoul should...

Yea!!! It looks like you and I had similar ideas for the car...... just different methods of doing it. I also had to replace the whole driveline etc.... for my RC (Titan motor) version. Although the transmission on the model works great..... I found it too cumbersome and missing a lot of the gears. Also, although you likely will not have this problem.....I found my RC motor did not have enough torque to drive the model, so..the transmission was not all helpful because gear 4 and 5 burned the motor out..... I also have added a pneumatic motor to a model (unimog). Remember to use some form of lubricant. The high RPMs of the pneumatic motor will burn your elements out if not lubricated. looking forward to your model when completed......

I used a lubricant. I realized early on I would have problems if I did not.

Okay... perhaps not as fast as I wanted it to be ...... but quite a bit faster than the original. Here is Sheepo's Mustang with actual RC racing parts. Traxxas Titan motor to be exact. I had to create a new bracket, drive train, etc. to accommodate for the new rpms, power, etc. To be honest, the drivetrain could have actually used more power, it is the heavy back end that limits performance on this model. I will not post all the details here... that is too exhaustive. But I had done so elsewhere. http://mocpages.com/moc.php/412797 Check it out it you can.... hopefully it is an interesting read. I love feedback, especially constructive feedback, but if you have something scathing I totally don't mind, but please read the whole post on my mocpages before posting something too critical. I love it when people post stuff but haven't read or seen all the videos.... sometimes your question/concern/opinion will be addressed if you read/watch all that has been posted. Also, the post has some things that I think may be of interest to the Technic community... such as how to address the problem of short supply for red flex cables..... and perhaps some additional information as to why Sheepo is now building 1/10 scale instead of 1/8 scale. Dang.... I can't get the videos to post. It is so hit and miss with these things. I use the exact same procedure everytime.....Is there anything I am doing wrong? Grrr.... I guess that is a different post. If someone knows.... please feel free to fix the issue.

Yea.... I have written on several blogs and got some great feedback about it. It cost me only around 300$ compared to the 1200 or so a USC Falcon would cost. It is not as big, and probably not as desirable to most, but I try to articulate there are alternatives to the UCS if individuals want a large MF model. Plus, I built it myself, it contains a full interior, and also has pneumatic landing gear. It is really based on the original chassis of the 7965, just broadened and lengthened. I had to get creative with other parts, but really, once you have the chassis done, you really are all set. I once owned a UCS MF, and have to admit, I had much more fun building my own large MF than the UCS version.....

Just thought I would add a few examples. I have had my share of "failed" projects..... but I learn from the mistakes and incorporate them in my building. A year ago I had wonderful ~ 3,000 piece SW MF that was all my own creation, pneumatic landing gear etc. mounted on my wall in my office by a mount buily mostly out of Lego. Well one day I came home to find that it "failed" - and had fallen. Smashed to bits. What I discovered is that the mount I built did not really fail, it was that I did not place anchors in the wall. I did not think the model weighed that much, and therefore did not think that I needed them. Poor choice. Well, I rebuilt the MOC from memory, built the mount again, remounted the MOC (with anchors) and it was been fine ever since. The lesson learned was to not underestimate the weight of large Lego builds. I implemented the changes, and have a successful MOC on my wall to show for it. My avatar pic is another example. I won't repost, I have already posted on the forum, but I built an initial version of this build (a pneumatically driven 8110, we have plenty that are electrically driven, a pneumatic one is kinda novel) that initially kinda worked, but kinda not. It was not geared down far enough and the drive train snapped out of place when too much torque was applied. I rectified this prob by re-doing the drivetrain (and adding new tires) and it works just peachy now. This time I learned perhaps more testing on the first version of RPMs versus torque was needed before completing the model. Had I ran more tests I prob. could have avoided having to build two versions. But alas, all is good b/c I learned and applied the lessons and have two great MOCs to show for it. ... alas... I forget. I tried to add a video but I am on a connection that really struggles with this. At home I could do it just fine. To see examples of what I am talking about, either click on the link or down below on my MOC pages link

My Red #3 connector hunt....
nerdsforprez replied to Richard Dower's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
As a member of the BL community and the owner of a small store I participate regularly to the forum. I recall several forum conversations regarding the topic of bartering/requesting discounts at times. I was surprised to find that the majority of store owners do not mind discussing prices or discounts. I, personally don't consider such requests, but I was surprised to find that many don't mind them. Clarify: the BL forum (as well as the EB forum) -
Where is the love for exo-suit?
nerdsforprez replied to TakeaBrick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That is too bad Looks like my little sci-fi sctory isn't going to play out the way I wanted after all....... "It's the year 2028 and two years since the first release of an Exosuit. Orders for these babies have provided a flood of money for the world's Tech industries, providing a second "dot.com" revolution. Some have even termed the "Exosuit Boom" as the second internet of the modern world, flooding the Tech industry's pockets with more money than they can handle. With more money comes more Research and Design opportunities, and the Tech industry all around is flourishing. With the flourishing Tech industry has come many adaptations and versions of the original Exosuit. Here is the Exosuit MG (Military Grade) 2.0. The Exosuit MG 2.0 is roughly twice the size of the original suit, with all military applications. Large cannons on the shoulders, rockets embedded on the ribcage, additional armor and plating throughout. Built to withstand nearly anything that invading enemies can throw at it. Other adaptations to the Exosuit 2.0 exist, such as Exosuit EG (engineering grade) 2.0, to be released later this month.........." see http://mocpages.com/moc.php/396276 for more details -
Such is life. There are many examples of this (red #3 connectors - crazy prices). Compensation (building in other colors, using liftarms to build a panel) is a technique that every frugal collector/builder needs to get used to. My favorite is using third party RC tires for large trucks instead of power puller tires. I think third party tires are so so so much better, and I can get them for half the price of PP tires.

I think some can get lost in the meaning of building with LEGO. It is a hobby for most, but for some a profession. Some a means of release whereas for others it is means of identity. I say this because most will approach questions such as the OPs with a relaxed, friendly approach. Their definition will be like many posted above "as long as it is different than an original (i.e. original LEGO set or MOC of someone elses, then you are good to go). Others, particularly those that use building with LEGO as a means of identity, will take things a little further, and will be more stringent with their criteria. They will debate the nuances of MOCs versus MODs like scientists debating classification systems. I certainly agree with the more relaxed approach. I think the thing to consider is: can it be considered a MY own creation? or simply a modification from someone else's work? I think that with enough tinkering things do eventually become one's own work. Examples: below is a modifcation I did of LEGO 8070. I say modification b/c I only modified some things, and I think it too closley resembles the original to be called my own. However, also below is another build I did. Although looks like the original 8110, I think has so many changes that it is a MOC. None else, that I know of, exists like it and therefore I call it my own. Check out my MOCpages for details. On the 8110 build, there is much more than meets the eye in terms of what it does.

Your Best Technic Bargains
nerdsforprez replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The Super Street Sensation (that I have modded; on my site) was only 100 bucks USD. NIB!! Bought it around 2013 I think. -
I have to be honest. I read the guildelines and they are sufficiently vague. I didn't really get any clarity on the issue. Really the only main message I got was for old topics one should not post on the specific "themes" forum, these topics seem to go fast and therefore things get bumped rapidly. However, not posting on a specialized Technic forum I think would greatly reduce the OP's chances to get his/her question answered. Given the nature of the question. Kind of confusing......

[MOC] SUV Racer
nerdsforprez replied to KirTech LAB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am not sure what to be more jealous of... your build..... the fact that you even have four RC motors, or the fact that you were camping in such beautiful wilderness! Great job!
