I can respect your comment. I think many may disagree with you though. I know personally, I like photos that are doctored a bit. Mine are somewhat involved, yes, but there are others whose are much better and more doctored. I really enjoy them. Also, in terms of scale, I think those who really know LEGO know the scale without needing a comparison. There are the studs.... and a brief look @ something gives on an idea of its size just based on studs. Also, many can just look at a model, nearly automatically discern a piece or element, know its size, and therefore pick up the relative size of the model based on one piece. It happens like clockwork, fast as a computer.... almost automatic

Hello All, I consider myself somewhat novice in terms of building. Currently, I am in the process of moving my family, and therefore most of my LEGO is packed up. However, I still have my laptop and realized the other day that I really needed to update some of by old MOC's photos. I had already doctored my newer MOC's photos, realizing late in the game how important it is to take time to really do a nice job with photos, but my older stuff really needed some work. I have written about and posted all photos here: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/414606 Briefly, here is an example of what I discuss and posted in the link above. As can be seen, one photo gives a much better presentation of the model than another. To many, this may seem like a no -brainer, and in hindsight it really is. But from a somewhat novice's perspective, it is not. I began building with only the intent to build. Then came the desire to share (but without consideration of the importance of presentation). Later, came an appreciation for presentation. Evolution of an AFOL

I consider myself a novice compared to many of ya'all, but recently I thoroughly noticed the need to doctor up my photos. I have written and posted more about it here: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/414606 But briefly, pics are so much better when you doctor them up. To novices, it is a good idea to learn and play with software a bit to improve your photos. Sariel, as well as others have great tutorials in how to do this.... For example, your photos could look like this: Or this... BIG difference..... -
I did a similar project years ago with the Willis Tower. Scaled it 1:333. Just the steelwork frame though... Too costly to do the whole thing. Fun stuff, I hope you enjoy the build. More pics and detailed information at http://mocpages.com/moc.php/355109

[REVIEW] 42037

IMO its the fact that they tried to introduce both the pale blue AND the lime green. Just lime green with the black would have been cool or just the pale blue with the black would have also been great. Build it with JUST one of those two colors and the black and I think you have a much better looking set...... -

This is funny... I am currently working on a whole post for MOCpages.com that will go into the "general" forum, b/c not all of my builds are Technic, talking about the importance of good photos. I am still a relatively new builder, taking on the hobby around 2012-2013, and looking back through my pages I have some pretty bad images (which I am rectifying). It is funny how the hobby is evolving for me, from "oh I don't care about good photos, I just want to build!" to spending hords of time recently to redoing all of my old photos.... and actually really enjoying doing so. Until the whole page is finished however, here are some outdoor shots of my pneumatic Unimog getting dirty............and other stuff... ....and no worries....despite what it looks like no LEGO were damaged in the Unimog photos...it actually climbed right out of the mud no problem. If anything was harmed at all it was the monsterous third-party RC tires.....More details at http://mocpages.com/moc.php/407959 -
Perhaps this thread can be locked as well...... we are sitting here discussing something that, although I admit there may be some weight to a possible "trend" in creating useless posts, this really boils down to an issue of underage posting. I don't think this is really a trend, I just think people really got their feathers ruffled by recent events on the Technic forum. But those "events" were due to underage posting, not an actual theme in my opinion..... ....btw.... just to lighten the mood around this and other related, recent posts..... just have to say, "Called it!!" (see other related posts and you will know what I am referring to)

I just posted on the OP's Airbus Project thread. I won't paste it here.... but it might be worth a read. In addition to my post, and this is purely just a theory, but Chrisf98 - "98" might be the OP's birth date (I am open to being completely wrong). This is just a theory.... but if correct we are dealing with just a young, inexperienced individual. As forum members we should have just a little patience......and subtly steer him in a different direction.

Too harsh..... but I agree with this statement. It could have been stated much more kindly though. I think as responsible members of the community here.... we have to be concerned that we don't engage in cyber-bullying or just plain idiocy ourselves. I agree with this statement b/c I don't know why people are even responding to this post. Stop adding fuel to the fire. I am not just skeptic that this individual can make LEGO fly, I think it is so absurd that I refuse to even respond to the claims. Come on guys and gals, I think we all know that LEGO will not be flying (at least with current part selection). I think we all accept this to a degree that we do not need to push our thinking onto the OP. He will learn for himself. Lastly, and I truly don't mean this in a bashing or mean way, the only reason why I am putting it out there is b/c I can't really send this out to everyone any other way without letting the OP see it. I strongly suspect the OP may be underage, or at least very young and naive. Just the content and manner of items posted thus far, IMO, presents itself as such. So, individuals who respond to his posts, I think, should at least consider this. If it is true, there is no reason to get our panties in a bunch if the OP is underage, or very young and inexperienced.......just smile and move on. @Chrisf98 - If you are reading this good luck on your project. Go have fun.... but I think you have learned perhaps some important lessons on posting in this and other forums. If you truly are in the process of building what you claim to, then lets hear from you when you have something substantial. Sharing and the social media aspect of LEGO building is important and fun, but building comes first. One can still have a great time building and creating without the sharing. Build first, share later.......

This is a great model for sure. But personally, before HOF recommendations are laid out... I would really like to see a different front grill. From what I can tell, there are paper cut-outs involved. It would really be hard for me to vote for this for the HOF with paper-cut outs invovled. Fix this, and I do think that it can go into the discussion.....

I did this only for the purpose of the lift of 8070. I get that they are supposed to be switched..... however, I was not lifting the boom any and for the purpose of the lift needed the top part more stable than any other part of the bottom part. It is corrected when I present the model.... but again, only for the purpose of the lift I switched them.......

Holy crap. This is wonderful. Great presentation as well. Should go in the discussion of HOF.....IMO....

Sorry guys...... just getting around to seeing this.. what exactly would you like additional pictures of? I can try to get the pics when I get home, but to be honest with you it may take a while. I am in the process of moving my family in the next month and therefore we are slowly packing bit by bit. Although I have not yet packed by LEGO models my cranes cables (string) came undone when I had to move it from my office. I can re-string it... but it takes time. I will say this..... in one aspect I used modified parts. The pulley system only works if the pulleys are bored all the way through.... (no axle hole). This allows the pulleys to move at different speeds and therefore leads to the enhanced lifting power. So I bored the Technic wedges http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=1&itemID=823 with a drill. I know Efferman offers these pieces (bored hole) on Shapeways but I thought I would just make the part myself. I did this to mimic real cranes, and tried to lift a modified 8070 at around 1300 grams. Even with the pulley system it did not work. One of my first projects after I move will be to couple two L-PF motors together to increase the lifting power and fit them into the superstructure. I want the crane to lift the 8070!!! I will post it when it is all done but probably will take a while. Lemme know what pics you want and I will try to get them.

I am so happy to see on the box a V2 pneumatic system label. If TLG went to the trouble to create the new molds for this new system then we can expect more and more models with pneumatics in them. I know for a while there was some speculation that pneumatics might be going away in LEGO models..... I was so sad. I was thinking of stock-piling these elements. Happily, this is not the case. I love the MB AROCS but I am also excited to see what TLG has in store in the future with these new pneumatics.....

Agreed.... not saying he would use his current design... or the one that I posted.... just I think that he could really do something great with the new cylinders. Will be fun to wait and see....

Agreed and agreed. Perhaps can't wait mostly though to see what Alex @ LPEpower will do with them. I can see some nifty LPEs created out of the new cylinders.....
